Avatar n tn An iso or slightly hyperechoic nodule with hypoechoic rim measuring 1.3 cm is presin in the lower right thyroid lobe. A tiny .4 cm hypoechoic nodule is present in the lower left thryroid lobe. Impression: Heterogeneous thyroid gland may reflect a thyroiditis, possibly Hoshimoto's. A 1.3 solid nodule lower right thyroid lobe. I cant get into an endocronologist for 3 weeks. I am concerned that the solid mass may be cancer and dont know if I should wait the 3 weeks or find a new doctor.
Avatar n tn I am 31 yrs old and had a goiter about 3 yrs ago so I had my thyroid partially removed. I have a 10 yr old daughter whos thyroid looked enlarged to me so I brought her into her doctor and blood tests were all normal. I pushed for an ultrasound on her thyroid, and it came back with a small cyst on the left side. They tell me not to worry and to come back in 3mts but I am terrifified does anyone know anything about this?

503801 tn?1217647595 Uncles, never had thyroid disease, but my sister and I both have thyroid cnditions, both of us have enlarged thryoid, I was diagnosed hyper today, my sister is borderline hyper. My mom is type II diabetic, and no one else in our familiy is diabetic. She is the only one. So according to my family, one person cannot pass on a health condition to another.
Avatar n tn I originally brought him to the doctor since he was feeling pretty bad, alternated between warm clammy skin to being very cold, including a wide range of other symptoms, including depression. Since autoimmune thyroid runs in the family, checking the thyroid is where we started.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 7. For about a month now, she has been showing a kind of breathing difficulty. At certain times of the day, it sounds like she's huffing and breathing out in spurts or sorta panting. This is worse when is running, eating or has gas. When we went to her pediatrician, she said my daughter's thyroid feels enlarged. Is it common for such little kids to have thyroid problems? (Me and my father have had thyroid issues). What are the typical diagnosis/treatment steps?
Avatar n tn I've read the asian community ususally eats many times the daily allowance in iodine in seaweed/kelp in their diets and they stay very healthy. And that Dr.'s in the US are conservative wtih iodine, but in truth naturopaths know and will give people very high dosages and that's not that unusual to be on higher dosages.
Avatar n tn Thyroid very asymmetric in appearance. Right lobe measures 4.9x1.8x1.7cm. No obvious focal mass but is quite enlarged and slightly heterogeneous. The isthmus is thick in the right side and thins towards the middle and the left side. Left lobe measures only 2.4x0.6x1cm in size and it contains a small 7mmx5mm cyst. My PCP had informed me that they really didn't find anything but my own review of the report has me worried. My TSH bloodwork came back in normal range. What does this mean?
Avatar f tn The ENT told me the CT showed no tumors or anything and my thyroid was fine. Now a year later I am being told my thyroid is enlarged. What could be the cause? I had a scan done in January right before my ablation and nothing was noted about my thyroid then. What are the chances of this being cancer? Thank you in advance for your help.
Avatar f tn i am really concerned about my health, i have been told that i have an enlarged thyroid, it was 2 other doctors that asked me if i have had my thyroid checked when i went in for something else at an out of hours clinic, so i went and saw my doctor and told him about it. My Gp has made me an appointment to go and see an ender something i cant remember what they are called.
Avatar m tn I have had numerous tests which show normal thyroid profiles (TSH, T3, T4, etc) however ultrasounds and CT scans have shown that I have an enlarged thyroid with nodules. I have also developed food and environmental allergies, as well as chronic lymphdenopathy in my groin, armpits, and neck. I have increasing ANA levels (1:300+) and a high Rheumatoid factor. While my TSH has fluctuated in and out of range, it has not stayed high or low.
Avatar n tn We have a 13 yr. old neighbor girl who comes to visit when our granddaughters are here. I couldn't help but notice that her neck was puffy. In between where the lines are in her neck, it is puffy. Does she have cancer or something or a thyroid problem?
Avatar n tn ve experienced with thyroid disease (I had pregnancy induced hypo-thyroid, my ex husband has hypo-thyroid, and 2 of my children have hypo-thyroid), cysts alone, with normal thyroid levels isn't something that can be treated at this point. What it could mean is that you may develop abnormal thyroid levels in the future, and that your levels should be tested once per year. A few years after my youngest daughter was diagnosed, my middle daughter had goiter (a significantly enlarged thyroid).
Avatar n tn Is it normal functioning if the right side of my thyroid is enlarged and the left side almost nonexistent? My bloodwork always comes back ok.. Also is there any relativity with thyroid issues and frozen shoulder? I have had it in one shoulder without injuring it and am almost certain it is in my other one.
Avatar m tn I increased my dosage of Armour Thyroid to 90 mg per day about a week ago. Now my thyroid is swollen and my heart rate is 90. My normal heart rate is 70-72. Has this happended to anyone else? I used to take Levoxyl and Cytomol and never had this problems.
Avatar m tn The scan showed that my thyroid was a large, asymetric thyroid, predominantly involving the left lobe with a low density lesion at the inferior pole of the left lobe of the thyroid. It is a lower density lesion measuring 1.6 x 1.3 x 1.3 cm containing a punctate calcification at the lower pole of the left thyroid lobe. Is this cancer or a goiter. Should I see a surgeon first or an endocrinologist?
Avatar m tn I am just wondering what could cause the thyroid gland to be enlarged but blood test normal? Is there another possible disease or something that I could have causing the thyroid gland to enlarge? My doctor I'm currently going to doesn't seem to think its a thyroid disease anymore but can't answer my question of why my thyroid keeps enlarging.
Avatar f tn I've noticed that my thyroid seems enlarged as of the last few weeks and I've an apt this THUR with the Endo. Also the areas below my neck (in between neck and shoulder) look a little swollen. I cannot feel any lymph nodes---just feels like water or fat. I am 4 months postpartum and my thyroid has. Been very well controlled and monitored. The swelling seems to have started after my Endo added T3 cytomel 5 to 10 much per day.
Avatar f tn My daughter who is 5 1/2 is being sent for an ultrasound because her doctor said she has an enlarged thyroid. Does that necessarily mean that something is drastically wrong or what are some things that could be causing this? I am very nervous because I have read all these things on the internet that it could be cancerous. Plus at her last visit her blood work was off they said her diferential shifted some...she is getting more blood work this week.
Avatar m tn My fiance is worried to tears. She has an enlarged thyroid gland with nodules and is going to get a big needle stuck in her neck to check for cancer. We met in a diet program and if the prospect of her children losing another perent to death wasn't enough (yes she is considering the cancer worst case senario too.) she is worried we no more than get married and then she will have to have her tyroid gland removed and it will inevitably make her "fat"!
Avatar f tn I also have had palpitations and thought maybe I was hyperthroid and just getting too much thyroid so I cut my dose in half which has not helped and finally went to the doctor and found out I had extremely high blood pressure which the doctor felt could be causing some of my symptoms. I was put on blood pressure medication but the pulsatile tinnusits in my right ear and bilateral ear ringing have not stopped.
454366 tn?1211245301 Monitoring the dosage is critical to proper lithium treatment. I have been on 300mg in the a.m., and 600mg in the p.m. and my liver and thyroid are both fine. I also take (in treatment of bipolar mania) 60mg Geodon 2x's daily, 1mg Ativan 3X a day, and .25mg Xanax 3X daily (as needed). Since I increased my Geodon to twice daily, I feel like a new person. The lithium is the most benign of my drugs. It's the Geodon I hate.
