Avatar n tn Is it normal functioning if the right side of my thyroid is enlarged and the left side almost nonexistent? My bloodwork always comes back ok.. Also is there any relativity with thyroid issues and frozen shoulder? I have had it in one shoulder without injuring it and am almost certain it is in my other one.
Avatar f tn My daughter who is 5 1/2 is being sent for an ultrasound because her doctor said she has an enlarged thyroid. Does that necessarily mean that something is drastically wrong or what are some things that could be causing this? I am very nervous because I have read all these things on the internet that it could be cancerous. Plus at her last visit her blood work was off they said her diferential shifted some...she is getting more blood work this week.
Avatar n tn Greetings, I have an enlarged thyroid and I'm interested in take an iodine supplement with 225 Mgc. Is it safe to take an Iodine supplement?
Avatar n tn 2 cm. the nurse i spoke with said that the thyroid gland was enlarged by 6.5x2.1x1.9 what does this mean????
Avatar f tn The ENT told me the CT showed no tumors or anything and my thyroid was fine. Now a year later I am being told my thyroid is enlarged. What could be the cause? I had a scan done in January right before my ablation and nothing was noted about my thyroid then. What are the chances of this being cancer? Thank you in advance for your help.
Avatar m tn I increased my dosage of Armour Thyroid to 90 mg per day about a week ago. Now my thyroid is swollen and my heart rate is 90. My normal heart rate is 70-72. Has this happended to anyone else? I used to take Levoxyl and Cytomol and never had this problems.
Avatar m tn I am just wondering what could cause the thyroid gland to be enlarged but blood test normal? Is there another possible disease or something that I could have causing the thyroid gland to enlarge? My doctor I'm currently going to doesn't seem to think its a thyroid disease anymore but can't answer my question of why my thyroid keeps enlarging.
Avatar m tn The scan showed that my thyroid was a large, asymetric thyroid, predominantly involving the left lobe with a low density lesion at the inferior pole of the left lobe of the thyroid. It is a lower density lesion measuring 1.6 x 1.3 x 1.3 cm containing a punctate calcification at the lower pole of the left thyroid lobe. Is this cancer or a goiter. Should I see a surgeon first or an endocrinologist?
Avatar m tn I have had numerous tests which show normal thyroid profiles (TSH, T3, T4, etc) however ultrasounds and CT scans have shown that I have an enlarged thyroid with nodules. I have also developed food and environmental allergies, as well as chronic lymphdenopathy in my groin, armpits, and neck. I have increasing ANA levels (1:300+) and a high Rheumatoid factor. While my TSH has fluctuated in and out of range, it has not stayed high or low.
Avatar f tn I've noticed that my thyroid seems enlarged as of the last few weeks and I've an apt this THUR with the Endo. Also the areas below my neck (in between neck and shoulder) look a little swollen. I cannot feel any lymph nodes---just feels like water or fat. I am 4 months postpartum and my thyroid has. Been very well controlled and monitored. The swelling seems to have started after my Endo added T3 cytomel 5 to 10 much per day.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response this Dr. was a endocrinologist he put me on it cause I have enlarged thyroid gained weight and been real tired I kept telling him how bad I was feeling that I wasn't getting any better I actually told him I felt worse he said my labs were fine it just takes time but I know that wasn't right cause hospital told me it was the thyroid meds said tsh level are 0.0 I might find another Dr.
1109439 tn?1259290757 5cm the left lobe and the isthmus of the thyroid are enlarged. an 8mm slightly hyperechoic nodule is seen in the lower pole of the right lobe of the thyroid. two large nodules are seen in the isthmus towards the left lobe and the lower poleof the left lobe of the thyroid measuring 2.9 x 4.2 in diameter respectively both the nodules appear well defined, solid and slightly hyperechoic in appearance. diffuse heterogeneous appearance of the entire left lobe of the thyroid is noted.
Avatar n tn Anyone know what a visibly larger/fatter neck means? It's not a thyroid problem, as I've had 3 tests done and they all show I have normal thyroid. And it's not swollen lymph nodes because the doctors I've seent his month have checked and said no. Any idea?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with an enlarged Goiter around 2 years ago. I am 47 and 9 years ago my doctor took out my left ovary and uterus. To completed my luck, I have been fighting with gain weight for more than 14 years. I used to be 135 lbs and now I am 180lbs! My thyroid doctor (2nd opinion doctor) says I don't need medications because all my hormones test are "normal". I do exercises and NOTHING happens...
Avatar f tn The doctor told me that my thyroid felt swollen. A scan was done, my thyroid was enlarged. I had a cyst removed and nothing was done with my thyroid. Last week I went into urgent care for a lingering cold, well it was getting worse instead of better and I could barely breathe. The doctor I saw there said I had an infection and prescribed me antibiotics. Then he started feeling myneck and asking me all kinds of questions and asked if I'd ever had thyroid problems before.
Avatar n tn An enlarged thyroid, known as goiter, is often a sign of thyroid disease. Because an enlarged thyroid can indicate a number of different conditions, including thyroid cancer, one should consult a physician for an examination. While goiters are typically a thyroid disease symptom indicating either hyper- or hypothyroidism, they can also be the result of a nutritional deficiency, a lack of iodine in the diet.
Avatar f tn I recently had and ultrasound that showed a mildly enlarged lobular thyroid to small 0.4 cm solid nodules in the left lobe. All thyroid functions were normal in fact right in the middle of normal. Then a thyroid scan was ordered which showed a normal thyroid size and that neither nodules was dominant, hot or cold, and that the thyroid uptake was slightly elevated 36% at 6 hours and 18% at 24 hours.
Avatar f tn i have been on synthroid for many years...hypoactive....i recently went for a ultrasound of my thyroid...which results were enlarged thyroid lobes which demonstrate diffuse heterogeneous echotexture and nodularity w/o evidence of definite discrete nodules. thyroid lobes are symmetrically enlarged. right thyroid lobe measures 7.6x2.5x3.4cm. left lobe 7.4.x 2 x 2.5 cm. the isthumus appears thickened and measures 6mm.
Avatar f tn I had all tests 6years ago and discharged. If my thyroid levels are normal why would my thyroid be enlarged and 'mottled' in appearance on the scan? I'm scared this may be thyroid cancer? Can you have thyroiditis with normal thyroid levels?
Avatar n tn The report indicates that your thyroid is normal - the texture (homogeneous) is all the same and though the isthmus (middle section of the thyroid) and right lobe are slightly enlarged, you have no nodules or cysts. Basically, the Impression says it all: “Unremarkable thyroid ultrasound” What prompted you to have the ultrasound? Have you been diagnosed with a thyroid condition or had any thyroid blood work done? If so, what tests were done and were the results within normal ranges?
Avatar m tn Both the thyroid lobes are enlarged and studded with multiple nodules and diffuse heterogenous pattern. Bilateral multinodular goitre noted." Please let me know whether these nodules are nonmalignant or malignant. Whether further test like thoroid scan is required. This discussion is related to Multinodular goiter.
Avatar f tn But would a FNAB be the protocol for a hypoechoic thyroid nodule coupled with an enlarged submandibular lymph node, instead of waiting 6 months for a follow up ultrasound? Would a CT scan show anything different than the ultrasound?
Avatar m tn TSH normal, thyroid scan showed enlarged thyroid, thyroid uptake showed enlarged thyroid due to goiter - no hot or cold nodules. Now, it's up to me - what do I do? My doctor said I could go to an endocrinologist for a consultation. ?? What more will the endocrinologist do? Wondering what I should do. Do I need a biopsy? Do I need it removed?
Avatar m tn this just happened to my daughter as well her tsh level is normal but we also had her thyroidglobulin ab and the anti tpo done and those were extremely high levels which means that something in her system is attacking her thyroid and killing it. her thyroid is also enlarged which they refer to as a goiter. hopefully this can help. and see and endo dr as well.
Avatar f tn I am taking all of the necessary tests now to be a candidate for a total thyroidectomy. All nodules are benign. Is it normal to feel pain with an enlarged thyroid? I always have this full feeling in my throat and it's very tender. Eating sometimes is a challenge. Sleeping is a nightmare! I can not get comfortable enough to sleep well. And if i talk for long periods at a time it hurts. I have one more scan to take before my head and neck surgeon gives his opinion.
