Avatar f tn So at your age, it very well could be a thyroid issue. I had similar things when my thyroid was functioning slowly called hypothyroidism. I also naturally produced too much estrogen. You can take a simple blood test for that. Go t a new doctor. They should do some blood work. At the very least, this may not be a match in birth control pill for you. But it all sounds hormone related with regards to either a thyroid issues (which impacts hormones) or hormone balance.
541196 tn?1293552936 Type 2 diabetic, but controlled. High Blood Pressure, not controlled as well as it should be. I also have Hashimotos thyroid and a prolactinoma brain tumor (see what I mean that she's already overwhelmed with me?). Other symptoms I have noticed in addition to the pain and cloudy urine are fatigue, swelling/water retention in hands, feet, legs and face, and Vitamin D deficiancy... which my dr. thinks could also be from my thyroid. I see an endocrinologist as well as a primary dr.
Avatar f tn So I was diagnosed when I was 17 with premature ovarian failure and ADD. My FSH levels are pretty high in the 80s-90s. I have osteoporosis and I'm 19 years old right now. my TSH level is 1.12 but I'm having all the thyroid problems symptoms.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Thyroid diseases, including hypothyroidism, are among the conditions now known to often coexist with migraines especially if there is failure in treatment response. Hypothyroidism results when the thyroid gland fails to produce enough hormones and may be attributed to a variety of issues. It affects 5-20% of women in the elderly group and the occurrence varies with genetics with a high prevalence in Caucasians, as well as in populations with a high iodine intake.
Avatar n tn Tell your Dad to start thinking of you too....as without treatment your Dad is at risk of heart failure and thyroid storm. Nothing 'natural' will stop this. He needs to see a Doctor urgently.
Avatar f tn A consensus exists for early treatment of such patients with thyroxine if anti thyroid peroxidase antibodies are present in the serum, because the risk of overt thyroid failure in future years is high, and it makes sense to anticipate morbidity rather than risk loss of follow up." Drs Anthony D Toft and Geoffrey J Beckett, "Thyroid function tests and hypothyroidism", British Medical Journal, 8 February 2003, 326:296-7.
Avatar f tn No-one can really say what cause chronic heart failure...it could be due to thyroid, it could be hereditary and could be from a lot of other conditions. But being aware of this early...gives you a head start in life to prevent it. My Father was diagnosed with Cardiovascular Disease (as was 6 of his brothers who have all died now) . I have checks done but this doesnt mean I will or will not get it. Its just something that has to be watched for and checked.
Avatar n tn Your diet is unlikely to cause high TSH at the levels that you have. Likely due to real thyroid failure. However, it is important to minimise soy foods that can have a thyroid suppressing effect. Veges like brocoli, cabbage etc. are very healthy and in normal portion size should have no problem. 2. You will need thyroid meds. It is not likely that your thyroid would resume function again. 3. Failure to treat would put you at risk of hypothyroid coma....
Avatar f tn After tons of blood work (repeated twice), an ekg, and thorough examination, he diagnosed me with an unidentified endocrine problem causing poly glandular failure. I was referred to my endocrinologist that treats my hypothyroidism. He repeated the blood tests (four times) and said that my thyroid meds needed adjusting and I had prolactinemia. I had the prolactinemia previously. He had taken me off the Dostinex about four months earlier.
Avatar f tn I visited my doctor in June, and he ordered a thyroid test. My results were completely normal. I shrugged everything off to stress and went on with my life. Unfortunately, the hot flashes became worse. I went to my doctor again two months ago, and he had my FSH, LH, estradiol, and progesterone levels tested, as he said there was a small chance that I could be experiencing premature ovarian failure. He said the results were normal.
4822967 tn?1367656696 I have had two chest xrays, a couple of weeks apart, that showed pulmonary plethora. I was in hospital at the time and no one said anything to me. When discharged I was given a discharge summary and told to follow up with my family doctor within 7 days. I was reading the discharge summary and it said that both xrays showed "pulmonary plethora" The hospital doctor had then written "suggestive of background cardiac failure" and suggested cardiology follow up.
Avatar f tn Uses litter box, but still urinating frequently and drinks fair amount of water. Is there a way to tell if she has kidney disease/failure and not pyelonephritis without doing an ultrasound?
Avatar m tn .42 , high CRP: 68.80 , Anti Thyroid Peroxidase Antibio: 185.0 , Anti thyroglobulin antibody: 3,000 . Two questions: One what brought this on? Two: What recommendations for treatment?
Avatar n tn Your high titer of thyroid antibodies means that you have a thyroid autoimmune disease (Hashi), you need adjustment to your medication (or change) , you need to go to a ENDO that has experience in thyroid.
Avatar n tn Renal failure may be either chronic or acute. Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) is a progressive, irreversible deterioration of kidney function. Because cats hide their illnesses and the very early signs of CRF are subtle, this disease may only be recognized when the patient reaches the 70% deterioration level and more dramatic symptoms are observable. The seemingly sudden onset may appear to be an acute condition but is most often a crisis point of CRF.
Avatar n tn She might have adrenal failure. Adrenal failure or fatigue has most of the same symptoms as hypothyroidism. This in turn can cause the thyroid to not do its job well. Have her blood tested for DHEA, cortisol, Vit D, B12 and a full metabolic panel. She might be deficient any any of these areas.
219609 tn?1210348114 On the ACTH test that was a good call on your doctor. If you adrenals are in failure mode (which that is why your cortisol is low) then this test would prove the Dx of adrenal failure. If this becomes the case the HC will be given in smaller doses to help the adrenals start functioning again - then your thyroid meds will balance - then your symptoms will leave eventually.
Avatar f tn no known heart attacks, but had chest pain on/off all year d/t thyroid problems(total thyroidectomy 5 yrs ago)-cannot get a good dose of synthroid, many times had chest pain, sob, arrhythmias, palpitations, racing hr 120-140, went to ER several times, EKG would show ST, with unspecific ST abnormality (ST depression), enzymes would be negative, nothing outrageous on cxr. Thyroid function studies would always be off the chart-tsh completely out of ranch either hypo or hyper....
Avatar m tn Thankyou for all replies.
Avatar m tn Synthyroid is a thyroid replacement drug which provides the body with only the T4 form, where as Armour thyroid supplies with both T3 and T4 forms of thyroid. Side effects are usually associated with over dosage and they are vomiting, convulsions, coma, heart failure, hypoglycemia etc. Discuss with your physician regarding this and follow her advise. Best.
Avatar n tn Although a definition of failure as a thyroid cyst volume of 1 ml seems rigorous, it is based on clinical grounds. In most published studies on PEI in thyroid cysts, a success rate is defined as near disappearance or marked (>50%) size reduction of the cystic lesion. In our experience, most cystic nodules vary in size, and although size reduction is often seen during follow-up of cysts primarily evacuated, they tend to increase gradually given enough time.
Avatar n tn If you have Graves Hyperthyroidism then medications like carbimazole are needed to slow the thyroid back to normal to avoid complications like heart failure and stroke -- weight loss is common with hyperthyroidism and many will regain some of the weight as the thyroid is normalized.
