Was nothing serious but I still continue to have discomfort and pain bending/mobility wise. Chiropractor thinks it was a disc I messed up. Anyways. Just recently I started experiencing a Tingling/numbness in the tip of my left thumb. Similar to the feeling when your leg falls asleep. After reading around I am curious if this is connected to my back problem. I am a 22 year old male of good health. Any help will be great.
Very similar story, earlier elbow/arm,shoulder pain that disappeared, but no known injury and 62 year old female, use computer mouse, keyboard a lot. No pain in thumb, just doesn't work to bend last distal joint.in right thumb. Same story, first noticed with trying to use a lighter. First joint seems to work fine. Just thought it was a curious mystery "fluke" associated with age, and not a big deal. But I guess it's been about 5 weeks so wondering how others have fared.
When bending thumb more than (approx) 35 degrees the bone seems to pop / rub out of place at the base by the trapezium
this might have come about because I started to snap my fingers (thumb and forefinger) constantly during the day to alert my dog that I was approaching (he became extremely hard of hearing).

It swelled and bruised immediately at the base of her thumb and on the pad of her thumb by the inside wrist. Also, pain and swelling on the outside down low between thumb and pointer finger. It hurts to use it but she can pinch her finger and thumb together in a circle. We iced it last night and saw an orthopedic doctor today. The swelling has come down a bit. She xray-d it and said that she either broke it through the growth plate at the base of the thumb or sprained it.
Baring in mind at this point i still cannot move my thumb (there is no pain in the thumb itself), the base of my thumb is very swollen and bruised, and it still hurts a hell of a lot, mainly right between the thumb and index finger, and around the base of the thumb.
My ultrasound she had to move my thumb around to get a proper look, i cried in agony while she was doing this. BUTTTTT the results showed nothing wrong with the ligaments. Been put back in plaster now...
What causes the twitching of my fingers and toes? At this very moment I am experiencing this with my left thumb. I feel it as well as see it. ty move my hand up or my fingers / thumb, tingly feeling numbness feeling from thumb fingers to almost elbow looks like near tyhe wrist is also swelling alittle even if i use other hand to move my hand upward i cant hold there. Thumb feels the most tingly numbness also thumb barley moves in any direction, what on earth could it be? sometimes pain in the wrist..... can't squeeze anything hard.... i probably should go to the walk-in clinic but it costs a pretty penny....
are the pain i feel when bending DIP coming from the muscles or from the fractures?evrytime i try to move DIP it feels like my nail is gonna peel off. is it advisable to keep pushing because im worried that pushing would make the fracture deformed when healed.
m i making good progress? any tips would be appreciated.thank you!!
This then presses on the nerve which then causes a pain right up to the elbow. Thumb and pointer finger are first to be affected. Often proper working style, working without bending wrist, using smooth movements to operate the mouse and key pad, and relaxing the joints of finger, wrist and arm in between helps. A wrist support or arm support too helps and you have computer chairs with support for your spine and arm.
Im 20 years old male 6'3 175 pounds and im a roofer for the past 6 to 8 months when im working while bending over like when im laying shingles i get really bad migraine's. The pain is behind my eyes top of my head and back of my neck. Its so bad it brings me right to my knees. I was in a car crash in august but i had a MRI and a CAT SCAN done that showed no prolbems. Most of the time if i sit up for a few minutes it goes away but as soon as i start bending over again its back.
I have done the carpel tunnel wrist test positions that my general prac taught me when I was having neuropathy and urgent care tried to say it wa carpel tunnel. Anyways long story short, no pain when I do this position. Only pain when pressure is applied. I did nothing to injury it and I'm right handed so I'm unsure what to think of it. The only thing that is different is that i have been sick with a flu bug that turned into a cold. I don't have a fever anymore just congestion.
To reduce swelling , which can make any exercise more difficult, raise your hand above your heart level using a pillow when in bed and during the day use a sling to hold it up.
For the stiffness, if you have access to a vibrating exercise machine do
about 10 minutes daily at low vibration, holding the handle using the "other"hand only.
Any bending, flexing exercises for your fingers and hand must be done very gently at first and gradually increase intensity.
My thumb is not bruised or swollen but I have shooting pain when I bend it. I can bend it all the way but it shoots pain and it hurts in between the two joints. I have tried icing and wrapping it but nothing has helped and it has been nine days. My hand is also very cold but like I said before it is not bruised or swollen.
