Avatar f tn I have done the carpel tunnel wrist test positions that my general prac taught me when I was having neuropathy and urgent care tried to say it wa carpel tunnel. Anyways long story short, no pain when I do this position. Only pain when pressure is applied. I did nothing to injury it and I'm right handed so I'm unsure what to think of it. The only thing that is different is that i have been sick with a flu bug that turned into a cold. I don't have a fever anymore just congestion.
Avatar n tn small bump has arrisen on the area of the wrist where the thumb and wrist attach. painful to use thumb. can move thumb with other hand no pain. skin in this area also sentitive to touch. hard to grasp anything with right hand. I wear a small brace on this hand during day hours to be able to do my job.
Avatar n tn I have some pain in my right wrist where my wrist and thumb connect. When I pick up heavy things it hurts, not unbearable but not pleasant. I can pop the third thumb joint every now and then by pulling on the thumb or squeezing the wrist and it feels wonderful to do, usually in the morning when I wake up. The pain stops. I have no weakness at all, just pain. I skateborded as a kid and had my share of falls, I'm twenty six now.
Avatar n tn It has been about 2 weeks now since my wrist started hurting. The pain is on the thumb side of the wrist. It don't think it is a fracture because there is no swelling or discoloration. But it sure hurts a lot. When I wake up it hurts a lot - even for the slightest moment and then the range of motion improves as the day progresses. I am not sure if it is a a ligament tear.
Avatar f tn Hey all, About a month ago, I woke up with some pretty sharp wrist pain in my left wrist (I am right handed) with some swelling over the thumb side of my wrist. It is very localized pain and swelling, radiating from just behind my wrist bone to the base of my thumb.
Avatar m tn Every site I look at says it is felt at the base of the thumb or wrist but although I know I have De Quervains (the test was quite painful) the worst of the pain will often be not those two tendons next to each other but the thumb tendon that is closer to the top of the wrist and if i pinch my thumb and forefinger together there is a sharp pain where the finger and thumb tendon meet on top at the wrist.
Avatar f tn I was pulling up my pants a few weeks ago when my left radial side of wrist gave a huge pop! Since I have a popping & painwith every movement of my thumb or twisting of hans/wrist. As well it feels like bones(?) are being pulled apart in the wrist. I also have some numbness on the left side of tip of thumb to the first knuckle. I use a splint, have tried both topical and oral anti inflamatorios, as well as ice. Not getting better.

Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I work on the computer and have a lot of typing work every day for 8-10 hours. Of late, I have noticed mild pain in my right hand and wrist especially when on the computer. The pain is more neuralgic type and not necessarily bone or muscle pain. I feel it is also finger specific, especially all my fingers other than my thumb and pinkie all of which I use to move the cursor. I am afraid I may have carpal tunnel. Please do suggest what to do now.
1091980 tn?1295541431 Over a year ago I felt a sharp pulling pain in the fleshy part of my thumb The pain and aching in my wrist pasted after a day or so. Many months later I felt this pain again. It usually passed quickly. Seven months later I noticed that I could not support things like a coffee cup and went to the dr. X ray result indicated normal, no obvious arthritis. I began to experience a rapid increase in loss of strength, grip and dexterity.
534810 tn?1213327718 I have developed a trigger finger and dequervains tendonitis in bilateral wrist w/thumb pain. Had to go off med for a month and also have sites injected w/cortisone. Never had any of this before. Oncologist said she had seen trigger finger before no dequervains tendonitis? Wondering if anyone out there has had any of these side effects? And what do you think of this? I am miserable w/all this discomfort.
Avatar f tn I am 27 and otherwise healthy. I have had soreness in my left thumb, and my Doctor said it was carpal tunnel. Suddenly it became so painful i could not move it, and the er doc. said it's dequervain's tendonitis. I have redness, swelling, and slight bruising, but no pain in my wrist. ( also there was no injury ) I have been wearing a splint and taking nsaid's for 3 days now with no improvement. Does anyone know what is wrong with my thumb?
1308443 tn?1302693321 I started having (left) wrist pain about 3 weeks ago. By the end of the first week, I was hurting enough to pay attention to it. I iced, heated, rested (as much as possible), and wrapped it at night, as well as taking NSAIDS. The pain kept getting worse all week despite my efforts. It was mainly at the base of my thumb, but would shoot up my arm towards my elbow. That would simply leave me in tears. I couldn't twist or grab anything.
Avatar f tn The books I was pulling out slipped and crashed down onto the thumb side of right wrist. It hurt but I continued working ( I have good pain tolerance and stubborn). Thumb side of wrist has some bruising , swollen. Doesn't looked deformed. Icing and taken advil. The area that is painful is scaphoid and down to the bone that is roundish (radial?). Today something happened..
Avatar f tn i can still move my fingers except my thumb but there is very little swelling but severe pain. when i try to move my thumb or wrist pain shoots through my arm up to my shoulder and brings tears to my eyes now i have a very high pain tolerance as i have had stitches with no anesthetic so this pain is BAAAD. can it be broken and i dont know it? what do i need to do?
1271506 tn?1271041933 Hi Nicky, sorry about the wrist and thumb pain, i've been going through thumb joint pain for a year now and for me its not good. my suggestion is find the BEST "orthopedic hand doctor" and yes the specialize in hands. don't just go for the closest to the house unless he's the best. don't get a youngster and find out if the doctor has had complaints against him through the internet.
Avatar n tn I still cannot have pressure on my wrist, but I no longer get flaring/shooting pain in my wrist, but I also have this now; The tip of my thumb, pointer finger, and middle finger on my right hand are numb, my thumb is the most numb. When I write, I feel a lot of tension in my wrist, so I fear i may have pinched a nerve which is why my fingers are numb and why i no longer get the pain in my wrist.
Avatar m tn Afterwards I was pretty sore and stiff all over, but was fine after a few days, except for my wrist; I have had a small amount of pain in my wrist at the bottom of my thumb, where it meets the wrist on the palm side which I thought would eventually go away, but is still there now. It doesn't hurt much except when I move it in particular ways, e.g., if I bend my wrist forward the whole way, and even then the pain is not too much.
Avatar f tn t swelling anymore. I still have pain in my hand, on the top of my hand (mostly between my thumb and pointer finger) and under my thumb on the side of my wrist and hand. It also aches on the opposite side of my hand. I am able to use my hand and wrist to do most things. My hand is still slightly swelling at night and I wake up with a stiff hand. I am noticing the most pain when my hand and wrist are at rest. Could I still have a fracture somewhere and not know it.
Avatar n tn s office (by a nurse I hope - no gloves or uniform) and when she inserted the needle I felt like I had been electrocuted with severe pain on the under side and thumb side of my wrist. She said that has never happened before and I just let it go but it bothers me. There is soreness in the inside of my elbow and I get that sharp nerve pain when I use my hand in a way .. writing, picking up things etc. Should I see a doctor? Should I be patient and give it more time or will it get worse?
Avatar f tn I've had both thumb weakness that comes and goes for a few years. It really got bad after pouring a bottle of wine, where my thumb went weak, numb and tingled and i almost dropped the bottle. i've never had pain per se, it's just uncomfortable, just like when your arm goes asleep. i saw an ortho doc who got an emg which showed bilateral carpal tunnel. he even got a cervical spine MRI b/c it seemed to occur in both hands at the same time.
Avatar f tn Last night I suddenly had strong cramp-like pain in my left wrist just below the palm on the side furthest from my thumb. Looking at it I could see what looked like a swolen vein, like the blood just couldn't pass & was stretching the vein. In relation to the rest of my hand/wrist that location felt quit a bit warmer. The pain lasted approximately 20 minutes then was gone, only hurting when the location where the bulging vein had been was touched.
Avatar f tn The last few days I have had severe pain in my left wrist. It is near my thumb and sometimes radiates into my other fingers and into my low forearm. I have also had muscle and body aches for the last few days but it is mild and my wrist definitely hurts worse than any of my other body aches. I also read that too much vitamin a can cause bone pain. My nutrionist put me on a high dose of vitamin a, about 100,000 iu for two weeks to get my vitamin a up.
Avatar n tn s more to the upper side of my wrist where the thumb meets. Now also on the picture if you look at the movement I can't move my thumb past about a 45 degree angle forwards from my arm (if I were holding my hand flat on the table). Another way to explain it would be if I hold my hand out like I'm "thumbing" for someone to pick me up on the side of the road walking.. when my arm is extended outwards, I can't get my thumb up past but maybe a 35 degree angle upwards =(.
Avatar n tn I used the splint for 9 days (it was a thumb/wrist splint which seemed a bit overkill for a thumb sprain). It was stiff from the splint at first but after a day or two I could move my thumb better, but it still hurt below the metacarpal joint when I pressed on it. So I went back to the dr, who said it would take time to get over the stiffness, also it didn't seem to hurt on the spot that day. That was 2 weeks ago, and this spot is still hurting enough that I'm worried.
1454009 tn?1285191093 ve noticed the higher weights I get into, I get a sharp pain into my right wrist once I release the weights. the pain is on the top and bottom of the left side of my wrist. I have this problem whenever i put any stress on it like barbell curls and preacher curls. I used to get the pain farther up right around the middle of the forearm but now it has moved to the wrist area. the injury occured 3 weeks ago when i was maxing out on incline bench press.
