Avatar m tn I do 15 Mins of treadmill (avg 10 speed), 10mins of cycling followed by 5 mins of skipping (rope jumping) everyday. After that I do 1hr of weight training (single body pary) 5 days a week. Would this schedule help me lose weight. P.S I do follow a diet, but mostly I tend to binge eat once or twice a week max.
484167 tn?1210001396 anyone heard of this? about "cycling" calories and giving up on low fat/carb diets?
Avatar n tn Exercise is 20percent of weight lose while diet is close to 80 percent. remeber that I did not say NO CARB....only low carb. Maybe a consult from your doctor to see an anesthesiologist in a pain management clinic can help. They can perform an epidural injection with local anesthetic and corticosteroids(Anti-inflamation med) that can relive the pain for a while. however it does not fix the bulge. Because your back and abs are your CORE.....
Avatar f tn your blood sugar may be cycling up and down, which may suggest eating a way that reduces the cycling. To do this, eat low carb diet, moderate protein and balance of calories from fat. Stabilizing your blood sugar will likely help the ups and downs you are experiencing after eating.
Avatar f tn Low carb no carb diet! It's perfectly safe.

Avatar n tn Ive read many problems concerning the Diabetic diet posted on the diabetes website that it hurts the diabetics more than helping them. Is this true? What do you think?
850029 tn?1238857820 What you are witnessing is a severe mold allergy reaction as well as yeast overgrowth in the gut, which causes the brain fog you describe. He needs to go on an anti yeast diet and the use of probiotics. Primal Defense Ultra or I Flora are good ones. Also you should rotate about every 3-4 weeks antifungals such as Thorne 722 (undeconoic acid) , Uva ursi , olive leaf extract, all of which can be gotten from the internet.
Tbd even the US CDC says cholesterol in the diet is not a concern. Also when carbs are removed from the diet then some other form of energy is needed... fat. I eat under 50 gr of carbs a day and have been since 2000.
Avatar n tn For example, you can increase light exercise (walking/ cycling), make sure you eat light meals, drink a tall glass of water every hour throughout the day, use a natural stool softener or herbal colon cleanser capsule, and add more veggies/fruit to your diet. Stay away from heavy, carb laden foods and stimulant laxatives. If none of these suggestions seem to help, speak with your doctor for further advice.
2053729 tn?1330435506 In regards to the diet. I DO NOT like to diet because I feel deprived. I started the high carb/low carb because of an article I read by Chris Powell who did Extreme Makeover - Weight Loss. The idea was to stoke the thyroid by confusing it. When you cut out carbs, the thyroid slows down so by having high carbs on alternating days, you confuse the thyroid and it keeps working but then you get the low carb days to help with weight loss. I have really cut back on sugar and junk.
Avatar f tn As suggested by Dr.St.Amand I did get mapped by my PT a month after titrating to my cycling dose, her findings: My left quadriceps had almost completely cleared of all lumps and contracted tissue just as described in the book. I had been on the support group for two months before starting this protocol to make sure this wasn't bogus. After reading all of the patient's testimonies and graphic details about their symptoms and the effects from guaifenesin, I decided to give it a go.
Business woman2 I have had good results by tight carb control. Experts recommend 45-65 grams of carb per meal. My doctor insists her patients eat only 30-45 gms. per meal. I tightened that down even more and try for less than 30 per meal and only eat breakfast and dinner. No snacks; although you can have them if they are 10 or less grams. I have lost 30 pounds since starting in June and my fasting blood sugars went from over 190 to being 129 or less. Most mornings, I get a reading of 115-118.
Avatar f tn This is going to really get Gymdandee going, which is fun, but there's no such thing as the Paleo diet. It's made up by people trying to make money. I don't know if there are any long-term studies that would give some idea how well it works for health and long-term weight loss, but nobody in the world eats like that naturally and nobody ever did. Certainly no "paleo" people. And "paleo" diets aren't all the same.
Avatar m tn well the first time it happened had had some mac and cheese with bacon, other minor times i was low fat. can blood sugar spikes only last for a couple of seconds and go away? seems odd that after an episode (within 2-3min) i take my sugar and its normal. I did go to the docs yesterday and ruled out my heart, which is all i needed to hear really.
Avatar f tn Belly fat is responsive to cutting out grains and added sugar from the diet. The most important grains to eliminate are wheat, barley, and rye. Some people also cut out fruit. If you cut out fruit, as well as grains and added sugar, it makes for an extremely low-carb diet, but to me, cutting out fruit is going a little too far. Look into the paleo diet. Some people on paleo eat fruit, and some don't, but there is no paleo diet that includes processed foods, added sugar, or grains.
451075 tn?1210258648 One of the arguments people have against low-carb diet is that you regain the weight you loose when you go of it again. Well, of course this is the case, it's so for all diets that causes you to loose weight, exercise aswell. When you dive back into the sugars and starches you will certainly gain weight - that's a promise whatever your way of loosing weight.
Avatar n tn for reading material only. http://www.lifeclinic.com/focus/diabetes/diet.asp Ask your doctor and you can always seek out a diabetes educator and a nutritionist to help with his diet.
Avatar n tn There are many diet plans for diabetics, but the ones that work best are usually custom-made for individuals, tailored to their specific needs by their nutritionist/dietitian. Was the diet plan your doctor gave you created with your input and have you discussed your concerns with him? I think it's very important to be able to communicate with our health providers, although I know very well that sometimes it's difficult.
5536886 tn?1455827346 That comes from people who don't realize that your brain needs carbs to be healthy. My sons doctor literally just told us "do not cut out carbs, they are important for the brain and body to function correctly, just monitor what he is eating and use insulin as directed.
905197 tn?1282232033 I was given a high carb diet to follow as well. But from my understanding that varies from doctor to doctor. I passed even with the high carb diet..so I was happy as well. I fasted fro 12 hrs but was told to fast for at least 8 hrs.
Avatar m tn Dr. W. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "fat and happy." Well, it's not just folklore. The same carbs that make you fat (and contribute to diabetes and other problems) also make you happy. It's simple science: Carbs allow more of the amino acid L-tryptophan to penetrate your brain. The L-tryptophan triggers your brain to make more serotonin, and the serotonin makes you feel happier. It's as simple as that!
Avatar m tn When one cuts down on calories, the body sends a signal to the brain which in turn turns on the ‘stress hormones’ and the body switches into the ‘starvation mode’ and paradoxically one may notice an increased weight. One would need adequate amount of calories to support the basic metabolic functions. A healthy diet should consist of adequate amounts of carbohydrates, proteins, fat and plenty of fruits and vegetables to supply vitamins and minerals.
