Avatar f tn i have just gave blood samples for SHBG but i dont know if the testosterone test is for bio-available or not, my doc not up to scratch on this hormone thing and my endo is all for keeping ;me in the dark, i wish i knew more about the whole system. I am on 50mg of DHEA DAILY which makes no difference at all and on fluoextine 30 mg and the testosterone patch but nothing seems to make any difference. moods are all over the place and depression can set in occassionally as nothing seems to change.
Avatar n tn To Hensley258 To get tested for low testosterone is very simple, just a blood screen. Although I was told to fast for 8 hours and get the test in the morning when your natural testosterone level is typically at the highest level.
401095 tn?1351391770 I am also very interested in how the testosterone shots go. I have thought about them for myself. it is not unusual for women to be low in testosterone. it occurs natuarlly in women too but is counter balanced by estrogen. maybe i need some of that? lol, i don't think so. i have noticed that adrenalin is great for fighting pain(as are other naturally occurring chemicals)and have often thought about getting my levels of all these chemicals checked. maybe i should. Avatar f tn I'd like to ask about how effective is testosterone booster for boy who has small penis in measurement. 10 years almost 11 years old Asian boy with 4.3 cm length penis. It is not micropenis in the table but in the gray area and the doctor said that the penis will be small in size. He didn't suggest the injection but also didn't tell that it is not allowed to inject. Doctor said we have to check bone scan before doing injection. And what is the side effect for a long term?
Avatar f tn Where can I find the latest medical advice on using Testosterone gel 13 years after prostate removal? Removed because of cancer. Doctor keeps saying that Testosterone Therapy is not proper for patients who have had prostate cancer. I feel like my energy battery is just about depleated and seem to have all of the symptoms for need of T Therapy. Is there any good medical research that I can use to further discuss with Primary Care MD?
Avatar f tn fatigue, unexplained weight gain, headaches, memory/concentration difficulty, dry eyes, moodiness/irritability, shorter periods, increased PMS. She tested my hormones and my testosterone was low (5 in a range of 8-48), so she recommended that I see an endocrinologist. This is where the fun begins. The endo indicated that low testosterone in women is a good thing and isn’t the source of my problems. She suspected PCOS and ordered her own battery of tests.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your question. Biochemical failure after prostatectomy is defined as elevated PSA between 0.2 - 0.4 ng/mL. Depending on the primary therapy and where the disease has extended to, this may warrant the use of radiation therapy in conjunction with hormones. Thanks again for your question. Ash K. Avatar m tn Hi Bob at your age your OK for DHEA its a hormone we have in our bodys, so all you will do is boost it up, with this take some Tribulus its a herb, now both of these run along the same lines, boost your testosterone, lift your libido and kick up your energy levels. DHEA your start low 25 mgs a day and work it up to what you think you need, I'm on 75 mgs a day, but please read up about it first it can have the odd funny side effect with the odd person, anything goes wrong you just come off it.
Avatar n tn So it might be the right drug for you, or it might be the wrong drug for a problem that needs some other treatment, or it might be the wrong drug becaue your problem is resolving itself anyway. You need to be evaluated carefully by a doctor. Please, please don't just try something on you own. Message me if you want to discuss further.
Avatar n tn In the past members noted above have discussed the potential for Testosterone Replacement Therapy for their low testosterone after doing tx. I just got test results back showing I am at the borderline of low normal, and low....about 300 ng/dl. After doing a LOT of reading about T ranges, and replacement, symptoms from low 'T', etc. I am beginning to think this may be a major part of my post-tx problems. The sx for low Testosterone are plentiful, and can be overwhelming.
Avatar f tn I had my first estradiol and testosterone implants and am taking progesterone pills at night. My hot flashes have stopped and my libido has improved some, but I'm bloated like I've never been before-even when I had regular periods. I always exercise and try to eat healthy most of the time-but I've gained 5lbs. over the month- and it's all "jelly-belly" fat. My appetite is ravenous!
Avatar f tn Taking synthroid for 2 months. Returned to dr office. He said last visit his testosterone was 475 but his free testosterone was low. When we asked what he thought was going on, he said aging. The thyroid was low and testosterone low so he wanted to put him on testosterone. We get home and they called saying not to take the testosterone and come back in to have a thyroid stimulation test. His cortisol was critical 1.0/1.1. We took the test 1 1/2 weeks ago.
Avatar n tn It might, at that stage in life, suppress penis growth (anyone know for sure)? No one in the world seems to know what testosterone does psychologically but believes people should wait until adulthood. Testosterone pills are the only versions of testosterone that are known to cause blood filled cysts on the liver and even cancer. If he needs to do this he will need to man up for shots for the rest of his life.
Avatar m tn Hi, How are you? Testosterone has been used for many decades for the treatment of testosterone deficient males.Today options for treatment include topical testosterone gels and creams, short and long acting injections of testosterone esters, application of testosterone through skin patches, subcutaneous testosterone implants, and oral testosterone capsules. The injection is given deep intra-muscular and is quite often painful.
Avatar f tn My question is if ah continues to abuse pills and his tolerance continues to grow would he also have to keep going up in dose on whatever the dr prescribes for this? Do testosterone levels go down in connection with the amount and strenght of opiates used? IE, vicodin causes it to lower a bit so they just dont think about sex, percocets cause it to lower more to the point they have trouble getting aroused and then oxy's just wipe the T level and the sex drive out?
Avatar m tn As of now, all my laboratory tests are within normal level except my testosterone. I’m on testosterone replacement therapy since August of 2009 but I’m afraid of the possible side effects like prostate problem. My question, is it possible if I decide to discontinue my testosterone replacement therapy? I really need your opinion.
