Avatar f tn I have had Vitaligo also for years - and Hashi for more. My knuckels, and hands look scared / blotchy as these areas dont tan from the summer sun. But I'm a guy, so its not that big a deal. Used to do a lot of research on vitaligo treatment. There is very , very little that can be done. Treating the thyroid does nothing for Vitaligo. Is an autoimmune disorder of skin pigment.
Avatar m tn Hallo i was hopping that someone would know what this these dots are on my shaft and the white on the head. It has been there for 3-4 month now, its not itching or anything, but i would like to know what it is. Hope its enough.
Avatar m tn Hello, If the spot is itchy then it can be due to ringworm or nummular dermatitis. If it is non itchy then vitiligo and lichen sclerosis needs to be ruled out. Lichen sclerosus is a chronic disease which effects usually the genital areas. The exact cause is not known and can be too active immune system and hormone problems. Some people have also proposed a genetic and hereditary basis of disease. Treatment consists of strong cortisone cream or ointment on the skin.

Avatar m tn Hello, Treatment options for vitiligo include steroids, psoralen photochemotherapy(PUVA),depigmentation and surgical therapy like skin grafting, micropigmentation or tattooing and autologous melanocyte transplants. However the choice of therapy depends on the number of white patches; their location, sizes, and how widespread they are and the option that is convenient to you. Elidel is an immunomodulator and is used for vitiligo when used with UVB narrowband treatments.
Avatar m tn I’ve had small white patches on my pinus balls for about 2 years ago but they were very small back then and now they’re just expanding and spreading, plus during masturbation these patches would turn to light red/pink. I feel no pain or anything but it’s very embarrassing. All of these patches are located at the “balls area” and some are just above. Is it because of friction or dry masturbation?
1282890 tn?1281364683 Hello, I am a fifteen year old male who first developed Vitiligo when I was twelve. Since then (and particularly) in the past few months, it has spread to about 30-40% of my body. Half of my face is now de-pigmented. It is distressing for me, so I personally made the decision to see a councilor about it, he has helped as much as he can, but thinks it would be a good idea to get it fixed. He seems to think I will not be satisfied unless I have it fixed.
Avatar m tn s biopsy and lab numbers clearly show him heading down the road to fibrosis and cirrohsis, would it make sense to push for trying the new drugs at least the approved ones for non-transplant such as teleprevir and bocepavir? Otherwise the patient is looking at another transplant which would seem to be quite a negative option.

Avatar f tn It sounds like vitiligo, but why would your doctor not have said so if that is what it is? Vitiligo is harmless, and not uncommon, some famous people have had it (I believe Michael Jackson was said to have had it, and there is a well-known model who has it). But no doctor would shrug it off as a birthmark, they would call it by its proper name. You could google it and see if it looks familiar.
Avatar n tn In fact, about 30% of vitiligo cases run in families. Statistically, 10 to 20 percent of people who have vitiligo fully regain their skin color. This is true for the those who are young, whose vitiligo reaches its peak in less than 6 months and is located mainly on the facial area. 358699 tn?1297646442 Is there any truth that Vitiligo may be caused by vitamin deficiencies? I have Vitiligo for over 25 years and have never been tested for vitamin deficiencies. My primary care physician did test my thyroid when I first met him when he noticed I had Vitiligo and I found out I have hypothyroidism. I am being treated for that but I've read that this autoimmune disorder may be caused by vitamin deficiencies and my doctor has never mentioned I should be tested.
Avatar f tn The main goal of treating vitiligo is to improve appearance. Therapy for vitiligo takes a long time—it usually must be continued for 6 to 18 months. Current treatment options for vitiligo include medical - topical steroid therapy , oral and topical psoralen photochemotherapy and depigmentation using hydroquinone; surgical-autologous skin grafts and micropigmentation, and adjunctive therapies- sunscreens and cosmetic products.
Avatar n tn I think they should start looking towards hormones as a cause or explanation. But as for treating Vitiligo?, don’t we all take enough medicines Rx as well as herbal already as it is? Do we really need to add another, just to make those who are uneducated in it feel better? =) Always carry and apply sunscreen, feel good about yourself, and others will follow.. Have a great day..
Avatar f tn Have you learned anymore about the connection between your vitiligo and hypothyroidism? My husband was recently diagnosed with hypothyroid (actually, it isn't even functioning). He has had vitiligo for many years. We are just starting to put the two together!
