I felt like 'speedy gonzalas' the first day I took T4 med after RAI. But I also felt good as I was hypo. The 'edgy feeling I had I think was from anxiety as I am allergic to a lot of medications. By day 2 , I was well on the way to feeling better. T4 meds work very fast for me....usually with 2-3 days.

64 (.61 - 1.76). T3 not done. I am taking half the dose of synthroid now (1/2 of a .125 tab a day) than I was back in January (.125 a day). My cytomel dose through all of this was 15 mcg in morning and 25 mcg at 3pm. My hypo symptoms have returned and the biggest bummer is I have gained 9 lbs in the past 8 months after losing 20 lbs 3 years ago and keeping it off. Another tidbit is I am 51 and had my first bout of hot flashes a month ago.

82) I was put on a half tab of cytomel and now he wants me to continue the half tab but 2 days a week take a whole tab. I am to come back next month to retest levels. I think I should take a whole tab but I am concerned my ft4 was lowered. It was normal but now its low. My Tsh was high but it did drop to a better level on the Cytomel. I have tried Synthroid but didn't care for that. I don't recall what my results were on it.

I use to take Levothyroxin 125MCG tab mylan One and One/Half Tablet six days per week and One/Half Tablet one day per week. This was bought at Walmart. I started to obtain my Medication from the "VA". They sent me Levothyroxine NA ( Synthroid) 0.025MG Tab. Take One/Half once Daily. What is the differance between 125MCG and 0.025MG ? Will the dosage be correct ?

i started to talk levothroxin sandoz 25 mcg 10 days ago and after 5 days all Symptoms of allergy reaction and my endo said i have to stop it and he switch me to synthroid 50 mcg ( half tablet per day ) but i am afraid to talk it. can you help me and tell me if i had the allergy reaction from the first one do you think i will have same thing with the other ??

I am off synthroid in preparation for a second round of RAI for papillary thyroid cancer. This time my eyes are giving me a terrible time: light hurts, my glasses are no longer in focus, sight "off" and cloudy at times....Anyone else have eye problems during withdrawal? Thanks.

hi samiam, not sure if this helps, when i was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid, they gave me a tab called radio iodine, which killed most of it, i now have to take 175mg of thyroxine. lorna.

I have been Hypothyroid for 10+ years and steadily had to raise Synthroid dose over time to 125mcg. Although labs are falling in range, I have hypo symptoms and heart pals and fatigue and muscle weakness. Dr added Cytomel 5 mcg daily to my Synthroid 125mcg. Both in the morning. It makes me feel really anxious and all, so should i have been reduced to a lower synthroid while adding the Cytomel?

Cytomel is the name brand for synthetic T3 med. Synthroid is a name brand for synthetic T4 med. Some people do better taking the name brands; however, some of us do fine on the generics. Still others do better on T4/T3 combo, dessicated, such as Armour, NatureThroid, etc. I'm on both T3 and T4 med, both generic and doing well. Do you have symptoms? If so, what are they? What are your latest test results? Can you post them along with the lab's reference ranges?

Dear Dr. Lupo, It has been difficult for me to find the right med's to treat my thyroid disorder. Currently I am taking .025 synthroid & am only staying on it because I must take it (feeling okay some fatigue @ night). Upon starting the medication, I developed more symptoms of hypothyroidism. On about 3 weeks of synthroid, .125 which appears to be my correct average dose based on my weight. My biggest complaint is the freakin fatigue. I see this report where a lot of folks have this fatigue. Hi, I have been treated for Hashi's for just over 3 years (June '05). I was started on just synthroid then added cytomel in Dec '06. Adjustments made at first and things were good until this past Feb when after blood work my doctor said my TSH was too low and he dropped my synthroid. Repeat blood work in early May showed TSH still low so another reduction in synthroid. Blood work at end of June again low TSH = decrease in synthroid. Late August TSH .12 (.45 - 4.5).

I got my mirena out Dec 30th 2012 and havemt conceived our second child yet. I was diagnosdiagnosed with hypothyroidism july 12th 2013 amd put on synthroid...I'm on my 3 period since the mirena and still no luck at conceiving. I go back on Aug 14th for bloodwork to check my levels and the 28th to discuss them..I was wondering how long it usually takes to conceive with my issues. Are you aware that they reformulated Armour? It could be a reaction to a new filler they are using.

I am experiencing hair loss and thinning. Could T4/T3 help me? Is Levoxyl the same as Synthroid? Is there really anything that can help hair to grow back? I am an 80 year old woman, in excellent health aside from the loss of T4.
