synthroid

1070570 tn?1283436213 have been told I have a conversion issue due to a high RT3 level in April (352)- don't convert T4 to T3 optimally, instead it converts to RT3 which cancels out the T3 that's trying to get into my cells. That's why I was wondering if increasing the synthroid was just gonna increase my RT3 and make me feel worse.
Avatar n tn I have seen where people say to take it a hour later from synthroid and with food yet the pharmacist said take it without food, yet the pamphlet from the pharmacy said take it with or without food. I always take my synthroid upon waking early without food for 30 min. and wait till lunch for vitamins and calcium etc. I am also on the generic cytomel hence the pharmacy changed that so I hope it is the same. DId you feel any changed when you first added generic cytomel, just want to be prepared .

Avatar n tn I asked my Doctor and he said that as coffee is liquid and not a digestive food that it wouldnt make any difference and it hasnt. I actually changed my med time to bedtime as I find it easier taking it at night now because of going back to work fulltime. Only difference is I start to feel tired around 7pm ( a few hours before it is due). I dont think coffee makes any difference at all.

Avatar n tn I am 42 yrs old and my medications include Toprol, Simvistatin, and now recently added both Loestra and Synthroid 25 mg. for an enlarged thyroid. Since starting the BC and SYnthroid, I have gained about 10 lbs. I know that some of it is inactivity in the winter, but I don't normally gain like this. I started the Synthroid in November, and feel MUCH better.
1825702 tn?1317577765 Soy might prove more difficult to eliminate since it's in so many packaged products, but read labels to help you limit soy. I personally avoid soy. I eat goitrogenic foods cooked, but probably not as often as I use to. I'm still confused about what to eat myself and feel like my diet has deteriorated since my diagnosis. Like you, I also feel that my eating schedule's screwed up too.
Avatar n tn When I went to new endo she took me of tiroide vister and put me back on synthroid eventhough I told her I had had no results and felt awful. She insisted so I thought I'll give it a try but infact all hypo symptoms back and feel awful. I've been on synthroid since July and just know its not working. Should I go back of tiroide vister? How can I stablise my levels? Thansk a mil!
Avatar f tn Hello! I have to take estrace and synthroid and am wondering what time of day is optimum to take them and if I can/should take them together? I was told to take the Synthroid an hour before I eat breakfast and am wondering if I should take the estrace then also, since they are both hormones? Thanks for your time and info!
Avatar n tn No, you can have liquid, (of course a beer first thing in the morning doesn't count!!!) but not food. The Synthroid will attach to the food and be digested, the liquid in your tummy is digested but also is not digested in the same way as food. It is preferable to wait but it is more the food which is the problem.
Avatar f tn I was put on 150 mcg of Synthroid for over a year and recently received a call from my doctor saying my levels were low and prescribed me 125 mcg of Synthroid. I don't understand why he did that. Isn't 150 mcg a higher dosage than 125 mcg?
822804 tn?1298226302 Do you feel better after taking the Armour vs taking Synthroid? I have been on Synthroid for almost 3 years and I feel terrible...my dosage has been increased many times,I am currently taking 150mcg of Synthroid(the actual brand name not generic) and I still continue to feel the same.I have asked for a script for Armour because I have heard good things about it because it doesnt just have T4 in it,has T1,2,3 and 4.Any help would be greatly appreciated.I have no thyroid..
Avatar m tn will see my endo on monday nov 30th and will get tested for the latest FT4/FT3...and will post then...for now I am on .125mg of Synthroid.
907968 tn?1292622204 It can hover in the gut along with unprocess digested food and cause rot gut - which simply means the food is rotting in your stomach and not expelling out . Nutrients are not being absorbed and many things will be present if this is an issue.
Avatar f tn s and my immune system keeps my thyroid inflamed by attacking it, Are you already taking Synthroid? If you do not have nodules and you do not have an Auto Immune problem (Hashimoto's or Graves), it is possible your thyroid could shrink when your levels are back to normal. You could post your Free T3, T4 and TSH with references for members to explain and comment.
665587 tn?1265946924 Just to give you an idea, the ocean spray and biproducts from the ocean effect our soil and the entire food chain, and within it our cattle's diet, differently than say the diet of the cattle of the midwest. Thus less iodine... (defined for the most part as having come from the sea...) I don't know if this helps, but I was eased by the fact that I hadn't so much "cheated" as I thought I had...
489786 tn?1255692879 I had my thyroid removed in Dec. and have been taking synthroid since. My dr. added cytomel in Feb. I have gained 45 lbs, I am losing my hair ( I have lost half of my hair), but the WORST is my face and eyes are swollen!! I look in the mirror and I don't recognize myself. My doctor says my bloodwork levels are in normal range. Why am I still having these horrible symtoms?? I am leaving out the headaches, no energy and the fact that I can't focus on anything!!! Any advice for me?
144586 tn?1284666164 Take Calcium or Iron supplements and their food/drinks, and soy products four to 12 hours of your synthroid for they interfere with aborsption, as well as the same with Aspirin and equivalent. Aspirin and other salicylate drugs (Pain killers) may increase the effectiveness of your thyroid hormone replacement by releasing more drug into the blood from body storage sites. As an added after thought, Thyroid medication can be stimulating, so it is best to take it early on in the AM.
Avatar f tn My daughter was born without a thyroid gland and always VERY hungry the last few years she was on Synthroid. Her free t4 was kept very high in the range then, and her free t3 was very low when this was occuring (conversion issue). She has been on desiccated porcine thyroid hormone replacement (Nature-Throid brand) for 1 year now, which has t3 in it as well as t4.
200220 tn?1361951554 I believe I read somewhere on here where someone split their synthroid - I hope they see this and comment on it. I seem to be doing ok with it at this point. I have made myself a photocopied list of all meds and vitiamens and herbs with time taken and it is taken the worry off of me. I do assisted living and this is the way I do my ladies meds and it works - without it I couldn't do it as they take over 12 meds a day and I am up to that with all the supplements.
219241 tn?1413537765 I had nasuea the first 3 weeks on 25mcgs Synthroid and then with ev. med increase I had the nausea for another week or so and then finally it went away altogether. It was same feeling as morning sickness. That icky nausea feeling .. it would go away after about an hour. I followed directions to a "T". Today I am leveled off at 75mcgs TSH 1.
Avatar f tn It's not the thyroxine that causes the constipation, it's being hypothyroid. I struggled with constipation of and on for years (I believe I went back and forth between hyper and hypo); and now that I've got my thyroid levels close to where I need them, I find that I no longer have to have the "daily help" using the bathroom. I also take a daily enzyme which helps break down food better. Are you taking vitamin B12 shots for your pernicious anemia?
Avatar n tn I am so glad you told me about taking other medications with the Synthroid - I was consistently taking my Atenonol with the Synthroid and no one ever said a thing to me about not doing this. I knew about the not eating for an hour a so - it's never been a problem for me as food in the morning and me don't agree. I see my endocronologist, only my 2nd visit to him thus far, on Monday 3/9 and hopefully he will get me straightend out.
