Synthroid and nexium

Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid and nexium

synthroid

Avatar m tn Hi...I am on Nexium and synthroid....can I take them together in the morning and hour before breakfast? I am supposed to take them both in AM. Thanks....
Avatar m tn You can switch this around but avoid taking vitamins with synthroid (calcium and iron can interfer with thyroxine absorption) and metformin (can inhibit the absorption of vitamin B12).
Avatar n tn I have had Hypothyroidism for 25 years. For at least the last 8 years or so my TSH has been 0.01. My last labs came in as follows: TSH 0.01 reference range 0.34 - 5.60 (low) Free T4 1.55 reference range 0.63 - 1.36 (high) Free T3 3.89 reference range 2.50 - 3.90 I have never had thyroid surgery. I am not taking vitamins. I have been overweight my entire life and although I eat healthy & exercise I struggle to maintain my weight. I am a 55 year old female.
Avatar f tn My husband is 40 year's old and has had hypothryoidism and hypoglycemia for several years. He takes one 200MCG tablet of levothroid every day. REcently, he started having severe chest pains. Last Sunday, they were so bad we took him to the ER where they performed all sorts of heart tests and determined it wasn't his heart.
1369218 tn?1282423884 I am on Nexium, Synthroid, Cytomel, Iron and Vit D. I take Synthroid in the morning and then I take Nexium and Cytomel together. Is that ok??? I then take Vit D and Iron with dinner. I am also seeing a new doc to test thyroid/adrenals. What tests should I have run? I feel horrible and want to feel better!!!
Avatar n tn Would recheck labs in 4 weeks or if symptoms worsen in meantime ask your doctor about the synthroid dosing. Long term use of meds like nexium may increase thyroid requirements, so the higher dose may work out well in that regard. Linda43 - the levothyroxine has a 7 day half life, meaning it takes a few weeks to get out of the system -- it would not still be there 2 years later though.
Avatar f tn Hi, im a 57 yr old female at 5'8.5", 125 lbs. i eat very well, watch my sugar intake, and exercise 5-6 x a week. I take 20mg of fluoxetine every morning as well as 88 ml of synthroid (started thyroid meds about a year ago,) and on hormone therapy (patch progesterone/dim) for 3 years (post-menopausal.) My guilty pleasure has always been a glass or two of w/r wine a day (while cooking and during dinner.
Avatar f tn Yes, I did wait until after my labs to take my Cytomel and Synthroid. A month ago I started out on 25mcg of cytomel, which I found out was too much, so I went to 12.5, then 6.25. So I've been taking it for a while now and the acid reflux has gone on for over a week. I didn't have this problem before I started taking cytomel. I do think I'm still slightly hypo because of all the inflammation and fatigue.
Avatar m tn Hi, Im hoping to talk to a doctor about nexium. Im here on behalf of my girlfriend who recently started to take nexium for her stomach pains. She has been very hot at random times and has been nauseas at night. Her period was suppose to start yesterday but it has not yet and we are not sure as to why it has not. She had one episode of cramps this morning but it was very short and ended soon after.
Avatar m tn that you were on anyway right? if he or she knew you were on nexium and xanax and still prescribed it to you then it should be okay i guess. also the same for your doc. that prescribed you the nexium. sometimes you can find on certain websites like drugs.com or something how certain meds react with others.
Avatar n tn I am a 49-year old female who has had severe acid reflux for several years. I have been on Nexium 2 X day for the past 7 years and have still managed to develop Barrett's esophagus. At this point, the Barrett's is at the lowest stage, however given the aggressiveness of my case, my biggest fear is that it will turn into full-blown cancer. I have slept with the bed raised for years; I have used Nexium before meals 2x day for years.
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm new to this site. I was recently diagnosed with GERD, and prescribed to nexium. Today is the 2 week mark of taking nexium. The only symptom I seem to get is really bad belching and it feels like there is a lump in my throat, those were the same symptoms I had when I was diagnosed. I had the same symptom for about a month before i went in. Maybe once or twice did I get heartburn or get an acidic taste in my mouth.
Avatar n tn I had a TT this past Monday for 2 nodules and an undetermined biopsy (with some suspicious cells). I have been hypo and on synthroid since 2003. At present I am feeling much better than I thought I would. My doctor said that the thyroid was inflamed??? which was triggering the growth of the nodules. Something about hyper-activity within the thyroid.
Avatar f tn I have had gerd plus a hiatal hernia for years. I take nexium and have for at least ten years. Now I am told I have iron defiency anemia. Reading through the insert that comes with nexium it appears this drug could cause the anemia. Has anybody experienced this?
Avatar n tn When this all started, she was on synthroid, nexium and imitrex as needed for migraines.
Avatar f tn I had an endoscopy and it showed I had lots of inflamation and the gastro doc put me on the Zantac because Prilosec and Nexium make me nauseated. Should I go off the Zantac and try something else? Call my endo and whine again? Help!!!
Avatar f tn Hi, I just switched from Prevacid to Nexium and within two days started to have dark stools. Have had an endoscopy, CT scan of my abdomen and also a ultra sound on my stomach. Nothing has turned up to be a problem but still the dark stools. I would appreciate someone commenting if they've experienced the same with Nexium, "the little purple pill". Thanks.
Avatar n tn Have you ever had thyroid antibodies tested, and do you know if you have Hashi's? Lots of us with Hashi's experience swings from hypo to hyper as the thyroid is slowly being destroyed. I ask also because Hashi's is an autoimmune disease. Once you have one autoimmune disease, you are much more likely to develop another. Celiac disease, which is gluten intolerance, is another autoimmune disease. Could something like that connect to your gastritis?
822804 tn?1298226302 I am taking Synthroid 150mcg and Cytomel 25mcg 1/2 tablet daily.I was just diagnosed with acid reflux and was told to take my Prilosec on an empty stomach at 7am...however,I take my Synthroid and Cytomel at that time. Can you take them together?I asked the doctor but he didn't seem certain enough to make me feel comfortable with taking them together. To me it just doesn't seem right to take thyroid meds and acid reducers at the same time. Can anyone help please!
5097699 tn?1363566981 Reflux on my 48 hour Bravo was so high, I had a Lap Nissen Fundoplacation w/Hernia Repair Jan 2012, ended up with a leak and 7cm bacterial mass near the wrap that had to be surgically drained, emergency and hospitalized with 103 fever and O2 below 70. Finally back on my feet and my reflux comes back but form of Chest Pains. Another Bravo confirmed as well. Had an EGD w/Dilation Jan 2013.
Avatar n tn Hi selmaS, I first started out with aciphex and then the doctor prescribed nexium. The nexium didnt work so I went back to the aciphex. I use to drink beer a lot and I started drinking a wine coolers and stopped eating certain foods. I did have my thyroid checked a few years ago but i think I need to again since mostly everyone in my family has it. I have to see the ENT in the morning and have a procedure done and I'll ask about that. What do you do for the nodules on ur thyroid?
368844 tn?1262319347 I know that, for a while, I was on a weird amount (160mg of Synthroid a week) and I had to take my 150 tabs daily and an extra one on Sundays. There's ways to tweak the levels so you don't get too strung out. Glad that the voice is back!!! You back to teaching?
Avatar n tn I don't think it is fair to the patient who goes to the Gastroenterologist that the doctor doesn't review the patient's health record to see if osteoporosis runs in the patient's family. I took Nexium for 5 years, 2xs per day and was never told by my first Gastroenterologist that it would prevent the absorption of Calcium. Now I have Osteoporosis and my bones actually hurt. I can also injure myself easily and will end up on some powerful bone medication.
Avatar f tn nodules found and was later told that it was cancer. I was put on .1 mg. of Synthroid in the hospital by the surgeon, and also given my other medications which I am on, Nexium for acid reflux, Topomax, Lamictal, Wellbutrin and Imovane for bipolar. All I was told was that I was to take my Synthroid at the same time each morning, which I continued to do. I was to see my Endrocrinoligist (for the first time following my surgery) of April 22.
Avatar f tn Massive amounts of heartburn, bad indigestion, throwing up at times ( no blood ) and also always has gas 90 percent of the day. He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from.
