synthroid

410801 tn?1220119445 If you are not having any symptoms of overdose I would say it is the synthroid and you should talk to your doc about other options available. There are many brands of T4 available besides synthroid as well as some combinations of T4 and T3 or a natural choice (Armour). Sorry I don't live in CA but http://www.thyroid-info.com/topdrs/california.htm is a good resource for finding a good endocrinologist. The site is managed by patient advocate Mary Shomon.
Avatar m tn I was away for a couple of days and left my synthroid at home. I got home at 2 am in the morning and took a synthroid and again at 8:30 am. Did I over do it? I'm asking so I know for the future.
1549937 tn?1300220335 When I was given the 75 mcg of generic Synthroid, I felt great for the day before I experience the overdose symptoms. I could walk again, no pain, it was like a miracle. So 75 is too much, but 50 isn't enough. What if I took a 50 and half a 25 ? I saw someone on here is taking 162.5 mcg of Synthroid, so they would have had to split a pill to do it.... My life really isn't worth living right now, as I have Depression also with this.
Avatar n tn Good Lord, what was that doctor thinking with that huge boost? That is NOT how thyroid med adjustment is done. That said, I don't think it would cause a spinal lesion. That's coincidental. But it would definitely cause those hyperthyroid symptoms you were experiencing. I'd think that any sensory symptoms from thyroid imbalance would resolve with restoration of appropriate levels.
Avatar f tn Some of the errors involved dispensing and administering an incorrect dose of levothyroxine, most often a 10-fold overdose after a decimal point had been misinterpreted. Abbreviations used during the prescribing process have also played a role. In one case, a prescription for SYNTHROID (levothyroxine) "QD" was misinterpreted as "QID.
Avatar f tn I remember 10 years ago I had started off on a lower dose and was slowly raised up to 100 mcg of synthroid. For years I have been on that dose and it was the right one for me and I felt great on it, I never felt like I had any symptoms. Last December, I had gone to my clinic to get a refil, and my regular doctor wasn't on scene, so a different doctor was filling in for him. This new doctor reviewed my tsh (which around 3 normal range of .3-5.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken too much Synthroid? Too much that it made you hyperthyroid? What symptoms did you have and for how long?
487969 tn?1249313291 If I remember you have the goiter causing problems right? This could all be symptoms relating to it. Try gargling with salt water (sea salt) that may help alot.
Avatar n tn You might ask your doctor to order free T3 (FT3) along with TSH and FT4. FT3 correlates to symptoms better than either of the other two. According to your labwork, you are not hyper. However, some of us are more comfortable low in the FT3 and FT4 range and start feeling hyper at lower levels than others. You'll probably have a hard time convincing your doctor to lower your meds with your labs. But, I'd sure give it a try.
Avatar n tn Can an overdose of Synthroid over a period of time cause stomach problems or can it cause iron build up in the brain?
Avatar n tn Didnt really feel bad, but dr put me on levothyroxine .50. After two days i felt sick...like symptoms of overdose of med. if i felt fine before do i really need to take this med?
Avatar f tn Does having too much Synthroid cause your hair to fall out??? I have been having the same problem with hair but my TSH is 1.00 I have Hashimoto's and I was wondering if that would cause earache, inflamed eye and now a bit of a sore throat.....all on the right side.
Avatar n tn , Symptom onset is usually rapid, often occurring within minutes after self-poisoning or a change in medication. Serotonin syndrome encompasses a wide range of clinical findings. Mild symptoms may only consist of tachycardia, shivering, diaphoresis (sweating), mydriasis (dilated pupils), myoclonus (intermittent tremor or twitching), as well as overresponsive reflexes.
Avatar f tn Why did the Dr increase your dose from 75 mcg to 87 mcg ? Can you get Synthroid in 75 mcg dose ? In my opinion, the generic levo and the one you get from Synthroid should be the same. Your symptoms are highly indicative of Thyroxine "overdose" and I would strongly recommend you to ask your Dr to put you back on 75 mcg.
324691 tn?1302551842 Right now I am in week 6. After today, I take 75 mcgs of generic synthroid. I have no symptoms except dry skin and a slight headache. After eating I get hypo-glycemic for about 2 - 5minutes. I can tell my body is working hard to metabolize the food I ingested so I just wait it out. So far so good. I am aware that starting and stopping is not a good idea, but because of the over-dosing problem I felt I had no choice.
Avatar f tn My rt3 was 15 with a range of 9.2-24.1 ng/dl on this same lab. I have read optimal is 20 or higher and mine is over 20. Do you think lowering t4 and adding t3 would help? I do have bad anxiety, but just wanted to rule out thyroid before blaming my low energy on that.
881676 tn?1252665676 If i am experiencing heart palpitations with synthroid increase in dosage, should I continue to take it? I'm seeing a new dr and she said that I must take the dose she gives me no matter what. I was once on 112mcg and i felt like my heart was going to explode, so my dr at the time told me to go back to 100mcg. Now that im seeing a new dr, she is monitoring me again since my tsh went up to 110 and she told me yesterday that I have to take the dose she gives me and I have to stay on it.
558156 tn?1217727396 Overdose symptoms are depressed respitory system, you basically stop breathing, dizzy spells to the point where you feel as though you are passing out, blurry vision. OD dosages are certainly unique to each individual and based on tolerance levels. But I dont think 15mg of ocycodone are going to throw you into an od status.
Avatar m tn Can someone give me either the symptoms or the timeline for an Ibuprofen overdose? And what's going to happen if I don't get treatment? I've taken approx. 40 200mg ibuprofen tablets, 32 hours ago.
Avatar n tn Dangerous or fatal rise in body temperature, Seizures, Heart attack, Brain hemorrhage, Kidney failure, Stroke, Repeated convulsions, Tremors, Delirium and finally, Death/ if you suspect an overdose seek immediate medical attention
Avatar n tn What are your current thyroid hormone levels? Be sure to post reference ranges with results, since ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report. You should be getting tested periodically for TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. Do you have other symptoms of over medication, such as weight loss, diarrhea, tremors, etc. Do you have Hashimoto's?
Avatar n tn nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, sweating, confusion, weakness. There are more, but easy to find if you search the web. Just taking an amount over the prescribed dose is NOT the definition of an overdose.

1549937 tn?1300220335 Between my readings and my symptoms, they thought I did need to be back on the Synthroid again and I was once again put back on the generic Synthroid 50 mcg. I WAS RELIEVED, but hated that I had to start from scratch again and WAIT to feel better........... Anyway, 4 weeks later after being back on the generic Synthroid, and unlike BEFORE, I did NOT feel BETTER this time around !!! ...
