Avatar f tn It sounded like a bit much to me, but I did it anyway, for 2 days. I came down with symptoms of an overdose of Levothyroxine, called a 24/7 nurse hotline, and was instructed to call Poison Control. My doctor won't be back in her office until Monday....

Avatar f tn Hello, I am a kinda of a young girl (im 13) and ive been on the Thyroxine pill brand Levothyroxine (im on 100 mcg) for about 7 months. I may or may not have taken two pills today. I have some attention problems so this morning i got water to take it but then i dont remeber if i took it!!!!! So i took another one. Im really scared because my dad is telling me to just be calm and drink water, but it would be really reassuring what would happen and if it is considered an overdose. PLEASE HELP!
Avatar f tn My mail order pharmacy sent me 0.75mg of levothyroxine instead of the 0.75mcg which is the correct dosage, I have taken almost the entire bottle, I need a refill this how I noticed the dosage was wrong. Is there a big difference between mcg and mg? Could this be harmful?
Avatar f tn After two weeks of taking the pills, I unfortunately experienced mild attacks of tight chest pains, tremors, tingling arms, shortness of breath, anxiety and heart palpitations. I later found out from my endo that these were symptoms of an overdose (i.e. the same symptoms you can get from hyperthyroidism, overactive thyroid). A possibility of this may have been that I'm only tiny (4"11 and just under 8 stone).
Avatar f tn My sister was perscribed .50 mcg of levothyroxine. Instead, the pharmacist gave her 150mcg of it. After three months, she was feeling awful, Ached all over had a fever and much more. What advise can I give her and what kind of doctor does she need to see to get better? The GP that put her on it is giving her prednisone to make her feel better but as soon as she goes off of it the fever and pain come back and she is having awful effects of the prednisone. Pleas help!
Avatar n tn What are your current thyroid hormone levels? Be sure to post reference ranges with results, since ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report. You should be getting tested periodically for TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. Do you have other symptoms of over medication, such as weight loss, diarrhea, tremors, etc. Do you have Hashimoto's?
Avatar n tn been on levothyroxine since march 50mg then another 2 lots of 25 extra nov, and january.day time i not to bad but waking up in the night feeling weak, muzzy head, and nausea, frightened to take magnesium or certain suppliments for sleep because of interactions, would welcome any good advice.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Levothyroxine about 8 years. Two years ago a nurse practioner increased my dosage from 50mg. to 150 mg. This caused my heart to start pounding day and night and espically at nught. It has been a little over two years and I still have problems romthis. How long will this last and will it ever completely clear up?
Avatar m tn What do you think of my symptoms? Can an overdose of levothyroxine (as FT4 level suggest) be responsible for heart palps, sweating and low potassium? What should I do now? I stopped taking levothyroxine right now as I have never had any problems with my heart or whatsoever. I hate those palps cause they destroy my life. How can I adjust levothyroxine and what tests should I do if the TSH is normal but symptoms are rather hyper. Help!
1139187 tn?1355706647 this is an issue with any form of thyroid replacement med, not just Tirosint. We have to be in tune with our body enough to recognize the symptoms of too high a dose. I've been on Tirosint since August and even though, I'm about ready to up my dose, I feel better than I have felt in many years. I think it's pretty melodramatic to talk of dying that way. There's no need to scare others who might be interested in trying it.
Avatar n tn I am taking iron tablets and along with that, my doctor prescribed Levothyroxine 112 MCG to start with. I got an allergic reaction. My doctor thought that it could be due to overdose. She lowered the dosage to 25 MCG. I had the same allergic reaction (runny nose, rashes all over my face, sore throat, dizziness). So, this time, the pharmacist thought that the allergic reaction might be due to lactose as I am lactose intolerant, and the dyes in the medication. (Artificial colors.
Avatar f tn Hi, I recently learned my Levothyroxine dosage was too high and is the cause of my hair falling out -- a lot! Will my hair begin to regrow immediately with my reduced dosage? Or will it continue to fall out? If so , for how long?
Avatar n tn Didnt really feel bad, but dr put me on levothyroxine .50. After two days i felt sick...like symptoms of overdose of med. if i felt fine before do i really need to take this med?
Avatar f tn you might not get symptoms but still risky as high concentration of thyroid hormones can bring various kinds of unexplained symptoms which is bit hard to find and treat. if you went to a doctor with this result he say its all fine as its all in lab reference range but if went to doctor who is better trained to treat thyroid problems he will probably reduce your dosage. so if doctor is not ready to change dose get another opinion.
Avatar m tn t overlook the info from Red_Star about the importance of magnesium. Also all of those symptoms can be found on a list of hypothyroid symptoms, so at this point I see no conclusive evidence those symptoms are related to hyperthyroidism, so I would not ignore the possibility of still being hypoothyroid. Causes for being hypothyroid extend beyond just low serum Free T4 and Free T3.
Avatar m tn I am a 49 yr woman with a 20yr history of Graves Disease. On Levothyroxine 100 mcg daily. I have symptomatic Bradycardia with occasional heart rates in the 200s. I was told that I will need a pacemaker. The new problem dizziness, nausea, belching. Back in February the Levothyroxine was increased to 125 mcg but changed back two weeks later due to high TSH (?). it was after the change in the dosage that the new symptoms started.
Avatar n tn , Symptom onset is usually rapid, often occurring within minutes after self-poisoning or a change in medication. Serotonin syndrome encompasses a wide range of clinical findings. Mild symptoms may only consist of tachycardia, shivering, diaphoresis (sweating), mydriasis (dilated pupils), myoclonus (intermittent tremor or twitching), as well as overresponsive reflexes.
497348 tn?1283436066 So I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about three months ago and since then life has been hell... I started a .100 of levothyroxine on a monday, by thursday I was in the E.R for feeling panic and dizzy... never felt that way before... till this day we are still getting the TSH level to be normal but I am still feeling the symptom of being dizzy.... and a little fatigue my doctor thinks I have anxiety I dont know what else to do is this normal? has anyone else felt like this?
Avatar f tn What if you usually take 275 of Levothyroxine and they dropped you to 75 all at once? Side effects?
Avatar f tn Adding a direct source of T3 to meds (e.g. Cytomel or dessicated) relieves the hypo symptoms. The best thing you could do right now is ask your doctor to repeat TSHand FT4 and test FT3 as well. Be sure to ask for FREE T3 (FT3) because if you just ask for T3, they will test total T3 (not nearly as useful). Once you have FT3 results, it will be much easier to tell if you are simply overmedicated or need to add T3 meds.
