Avatar f tn That said, it takes 4-6 weeks for a dosage of Levothyroxine to reach full potential in your blood. What symptoms of overdose were you having? What did Poison Control tell you to do? I'm assuming they told you not to take anymore of the Levothyroxine until you talk to your doctor?

Avatar m tn An underactive thyroid is a common hormone disorder in dogs, especially as they enter their senior years. The thyroid is a very interesting gland. The deficiency in the thryroid gland can affect general metabolism causing it to slow down. Hypothryoid dogs will often put on weight, be sluggish, have an oily coat and have a tragic facial expression.
Avatar n tn Have been taking Levothyroxine 137mcg for quite sometime. Now experiencing hot flashes ? although I have been thru menopause for many years. My internal thermostat seems to be out of wack as I don't seem to get cold, as in the past, but now am warm or experiencing sweats at times. Is this an overdose of the med???
Avatar f tn 0.75mcg is not the same as 0.75mg. 1 microgram (mcg) = 0.001 milligrams (mg). 75 mcg = 0.075 mg. Excerpts from Institute For Safe Medical Practices - Medication errors associated with levothyroxine products... "Some of the errors involved dispensing and administering an incorrect dose of levothyroxine, most often a 10-fold overdose after a decimal point had been misinterpreted. Abbreviations used during the prescribing process have also played a role.
Avatar f tn t even describe as pain, and nowhere near as bad as the overdose symptoms I was having before. It just feels unpleasantly weird. In fact, it is really difficult to describe. It feels like someone is pressing very slightly on my chest. Not enough for it to be painful, just a slight pressure and tingly sensation. I also have very slightly achey arms and wrists, the same kind of feeling you may feel after an adrenaline rush. I have had no heart palpitations recently.
Avatar n tn So, this time, the pharmacist thought that the allergic reaction might be due to lactose as I am lactose intolerant, and the dyes in the medication. (Artificial colors.) He gave me Levothyroxine 25 MCG and told me to break it in half. This medication is lactose free and dye free. This time again, I had the same allergic reaction except for the sore throat because I only took it once. Last time it started with the same thing. Since I continued for nine days, I ended up with a sore throat too.

Avatar n tn Previcox For Dogs Review By James on November 17th, 2010 Previcox is an anti-inflammatory pain reliever that also reduces fever in dogs. This prescription medication is given to dogs that have just received surgery, have arthritis, or for other complications as prescribed by your vet. You shouldn’t give Previcox to your dog if it is allergic to aspirin or is taking other NSAID pain relievers. Your vet can determine if your dog is allergic to aspirin with a simple test if you are unsure.
Avatar f tn Determining a dosage of tramadol for dogs is an exercise in futility. As with people, if the dog has a history of seizures it is important to let your vet know this, and they will likely tell you about alternatives. While the dosage amounts vary from dog to dog, the tramadol dosage for dogs can be put into effect by using the dog’s weight as the determinant. The usual range is .5 - 1.8mg per pound.

Avatar f tn He ate all the rimadyl at once in my absence. I took him to the hospital within 2 hours of overdose. The vet started IV fluids and administered apomorphine at 6 PM. At 9 PM he spiked a fever 107• and started started seizing, Can this be from the medications?
1139187 tn?1355706647 Yes, Sally, tirosint is levothyroxine sodium, but it's brand new. It's the only levo that comes in gelcap form, rather than tablet, so is supposed to be absorbed better than the tablets and also hypoallergenic, since it doesn't have the fillers, found in tablets. The precautions on the package insert are standard for any medication. I didn't find it confusing in the least.
Avatar m tn What do you think of my symptoms? Can an overdose of levothyroxine (as FT4 level suggest) be responsible for heart palps, sweating and low potassium? What should I do now? I stopped taking levothyroxine right now as I have never had any problems with my heart or whatsoever. I hate those palps cause they destroy my life. How can I adjust levothyroxine and what tests should I do if the TSH is normal but symptoms are rather hyper. Help!
502966 tn?1210285150 we live in the dominican republic--apparently they still use this ivermectin in strong doses in vaccinations as many dogs here suffer from heart worm and mange. i guess that is how it happened. do you know anything else??
Avatar f tn SUBOXONE is a class of Opiates....Yes, like Opium! It is actually used for pain management in dogs and drug addiction in people......However, your girl has had a very high dose....... Sedation is the #1 side effect and it's also used for this purpose......It can be taken 2-4 times a day for pain....Overdose is rare in people, but I don't know about puppies.....You didn't say how old a puppy she is....... The reason she cannot walk is that she is "loaded"!
Avatar f tn It floats around in your bloodstream until your cells need it. The T4 level in your blood is a reflection of the meds you've been taking for the past 4-6 weeks. One extra pill is not going to change that level significantly. While it's possible to have the symptoms of overdose that caregiver mentions and you certainly should go to the ER with any serious symptoms, I'd anticipate it being no problem at all.
