Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid side effects symptoms

synthroid

Avatar f tn I am confused about something... The website says for Synthroid: Adverse reactions associated with levothyroxine therapy are primarily those of hyperthyroidism due to therapeutic overdosage. How can you have "therapeutic overdosage" if your thyroid levels are in hypo range? This confuses me.. Is it too much at once?
Avatar f tn Please post the actual results of your FT3 and FT4 and their reference ranges. Ranges have to come from your own lab report since they vary from lab to lab. Your TSH of 9 is clearly hypothyroid. However, FT3 and FT4 are much more important in determining thyroid status than TSH. Your TPOab, at 500, is elevated, which indicates you have an autoimmune thyroid disease, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Brain fog is usually a result of being hypo, not of meds.
Avatar f tn Don't know why they should have different effects since they are both T4. Did you change anything else during the time you switched that could have affected absorption or conversion to T3? What were your FT4 and FT3 levels before and after the switch to Synthroid?
Avatar n tn I have no idea what to do and though I have only been off the Synthroid for 4 days, the side effects have not abated. Anybody have any thing to say to help me understand what is going on? I'm so upset and exhausted from lack of sleep....I was feeling FINE before Synthroid!!!
Avatar m tn Hi, I started taking Synthroid .075mg last weekend (Sunday),.
Avatar n tn I wouldn't worry about anything but taking the synthroid to get that tsh level up, so you can feel better. You may not have any side effects at all from the synthroid...there really isn't anything bad anyway....maybe just annoying. :) You will know over time if it is the right med for you....regardless it will improve your levels. You tested positive for antibodies so expect fluctuations in your thyroid levels.....sigh....welcome to our hashimotos club here.....we feel for you.
Avatar n tn Just a guess and a thought...angina can be a side effect of Synthroid (or any other brand or generic levo). Google "synthroid + angina" if you'd like to read up and see if that seems to be what you're experiencing. Do you know your FT3, FT4 and TSH levels? And the FT3 and FT4 reference ranges? If you're slightly overmedicated (as defined by FT3, NOT TSH), it could be causing this.
Avatar f tn My Endo told me when starting out on Synthroid and also each time he raises my dose that I may have some palpitations or "heart flutters." Each person is different. I have noticed them a bit, but nothing terrible. He said it should go away within a week or two after in your case, starting the med...in mine, when he raises it. Nothing to be alarmed about.
Avatar n tn It is possible that you had no noticable side effects (especially if you are mild hypo), but being hypo long term can be damaging to your body. It sounds as though your body had a hard time adjusting to the Synthroid and you may need a lower dose. I can say that the hair loss after starting the Synthroid may have been your body "catching up" from not loosing much hair while you were untreated.

909086 tn?1242660764 s Thyroiditis. I was taking 112mcg of Synthroid for about a year, which helped with most of my symptoms, except the heart palpitations. (Yes, I am hypo and have heart palpitations - sometimes the episodes would last for up to 20 hours at a time.) About 6 months ago, I convinced my doc to add Cytomel (25mcg) in addition to the Synthroid because I had read that Cytomel can help with palpitations when taken with Synthroid.
Avatar n tn I've been on armour about a week and half for my hypo and have just recently started to feel some side effects. I've started getting some pains in my chest, it feels like it's right up under my heart, mostly during the night or in the morning. They don't really last long but I definitely notice it when its there. I am also very aware of my heart beat, even though it's not racing and at a normal rate, around the time these happen.
Avatar f tn Im not taking the synthroid for 3 months now, side effects are HELL , can i take Sudafed pe for sinus now that im off synthroid?
