Avatar n tn in RARE instances, hair loss within the first few months of starting this medecine. This effect is usually temporary as your body adjusts to this medecine. Etc. Question: 1/ I read a lot about people loosing their hair. Does it grow back to its normal state? 2/ Is it common to GAIN weight while taking Synthroid? If so, how hard to go back to normal weight and after how long? 3/ Is it more difficult to get pregnant while on Synthroid?
Avatar n tn I was told by my doctor after a routine blood test that I have hypothyroid , I had no hair loss, weight gain or fatigue ,. tested three times same results . So I went on synthroid and the very first day I began having side affects .Horrilble headache , fatigue , nausea . and my hair started to fall out . To make a long story short , on the 7 th day of treatment I had to be hospitalized for cardiac a-fib . So the Question is why take anything if I have no symptoms of hypothyroid ?
Avatar f tn One of the most common side effects of hypo is hair loss. It takes months to re-establish hair growth. Only when your levels are stable will you see a change in your hair. Have you got any latest results for your thyroid? Often doctors tend to under dose and this can cause symptoms to linger longer.
Avatar n tn I have been on synthroid for over 15 years, about 5 years ago I noticed a lot of hair on the bathroom floor, but I wasn't too concerned. Last summer I noticed that the hair on the crown of my head was getting extremely thin. Thinning hair runs in my mothers family. I saw an add for Keranique, they where offering a free trial. I thought what do I have to loose. No pun intended. In about 4 months my hair started to fill in, and the bathroom floor wasn't covered with my hair.
Avatar n tn Has anyone on this drug experienced hair loss? I've got hair loss and I'm on synthroid and trying to get rid of the problem and was thinking of switching. I could not find hair loss as a side affect of Armour.
Avatar n tn But if it is caused by the possible side effect of the synthroid, then if you stop the drug the hair loss stops. Hypothyroidism causes your hair to thin badly. I have that too because I am undermedicated. No, you will not go bald, but you can get severely thinning hair. Most people that have this problem do better on a T3 T4 thyroid med. Also, make sure your iron levels are good. I take Evening Primrose Oil, which does not stop hair loss but nourishes the hair and helps soften it....
Avatar n tn synthroid will not cause hot flashes hair loss or weight gain. the synthroid will keep these from happeneing. you need to be on synthroid or maybe perhaps armour. I am doing qui te well on the synthroid.
Avatar f tn I'm on 150 mcg of Synthroid. I took Levoxyl for 14 years when I was hypo with no side effects at all. After thyroidectomy I started on Synthroid and lost tons of hair. But, it's definitely stopping now so there is hope! My doctor told me that it takes about 3 months on a consistent dosage for things to even out.
Avatar f tn Hair loss is very common - in thyroid patients and non-thyroid patients. Changes in thyroid medications can cause temporary hair changes.
988694 tn?1332359479 I have used the search tool for this community to read comments about Synthroid and hair loss. I have not been able to find comments where hair loss due to Synthroid has stopped after some months or has been only temporary. I dare to say is due to Synthroid, because I have used in the past both Synthroid and NatureThroid and this last one never gave me the amount of hair I am losing on Synthroid and it also improved the quality of my hair and skin tremendously.
Avatar m tn Hi, I started taking Synthroid .075mg last weekend (Sunday),.
Avatar n tn Side Effects of Levothyroxine - for the Consumer Levothyroxine All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. No COMMON side effects have been reported with the use of Levothyroxine .
Avatar n tn There are reports of side effects of T4 meds including hair loss. More frequently I think it is related to continuing hypothyroidism. People have reported having better luck with Armour, or even just changing to other T4 meds. Hard to quantify the real cause. I would suggest that you first look at your levels of the actual, biologically active thyroid hormones, free T3 and freeT4.
Avatar n tn How long after taking gabapentin will the side effects last. I have hair loss. I stopped taking gabapentin about four or five months ago.
Avatar f tn I read what the publish side effect say, but it does say not all listed side effects are listed and itprovides a way to get the "complte list" I sure hope it doesn't include hair loss, I've lost enough hair already and just went on Flecainide today
Avatar f tn I am getting ready to convert to Armor from Synthroid. Any suggestions about easy conversion without major side effects like weight gain, hair loss, tremors, or arrythmias? Don't want to go hypo, and don't want to be hyper. I have been on Synthroid due to RAI for years and have had every bad side effect their is. The Endo's always made my dose to high and went just by the numbers. That kicked me into heart arrythmias, diah, tremors for years.
Avatar n tn I went from hyper to hypo. My endocrine had made the mistake of putting me on Tapazole and I became severely hypo. Now to rectify it, I've been on 125 ml of synthroid. I've been on syntroid for a 6 weeks and started noticing excessive hair loss within the past week. I've been tested a week ago and my levels are on the higher side of the normal range. I do feel great, but still losing so much hair. My doctor calls it Telogen effluvium? Is that possible? Or is it the medication?
Avatar n tn ve been on levothyroxin and now on Synthroid, my endo just upped my dose 3 mos ago to 125 mcg from 75 mcg and I am suffering terrible hair loss. I only realized it just recently and stopped taking the Synthroid. Do you recommend Armour?
Avatar n tn Hair loss is sometimes a side effect of taking beta blockers. Not sure if there's a way to stop that other than changing medications. You have normal sinus rhythm but it's fast? How fast? If it's consistently over 100, you should talk to your cardio about that. It's not normal or healthy. Your meds may need to be adjusted.
Avatar n tn I've been treated for hypothyroidism for the past 6-7 years. In November, my endocrinologist said it would not cause any further harm to stop synthroid for 3 months and then recheck levels to see if my hair loss stopped. Unfortunately, my TSH level skyrocketed to 91 and my cholesterol was high as well. So I went back on synthroid (100 mcg). I'm still suffering from hair loss and am become quite concerned/stressed/depressed.
Avatar m tn Some people experience few side effects and/or minimal side effects and others have either more side effects or more problematic side effects. In addition, many of the side effects are not constant. They tend to wax and wane, worse some days and minimal other days. Some side effects are more common than others and appear in varying degrees in many people taking the drugs. Hair loss is not uncommon according to the statistics. Hair loss among people taking Pegasys 180 mcg. for 48 weeks is 22%.
410801 tn?1220119445 it seems like if you are hyper, you can loss your hair, if you are hypo, you can loss your hair, or even Synthroid can have this side-effect! i can understand being hyper or hypo to be related with hair loss, but does Synthroid cause that too? even if you are at the right dose? not sure, if anybody had or having the similar situation. any advice you can give is highly appreciated. PS. is anybody from Upland. California area? can you recommend a good endo?
Avatar f tn It is really hard to determine if hair loss is a significant side effect from Synthroid, or if patients sometimes lose their hair due to remaining hypothyroid from inadequate levels of Free T3 and Free T4, due to inadequate medication. From many members we hear that when their meds are adequate, their hair loss problem goes away.
