Avatar n tn hi last month i was diagnosed with Hashimotos thyroiditis and i am on synthroid 100mcg .can i drinkwarm lemon water with honey before my breakfast.
Avatar f tn So, now's my chance...I'm off the Synthroid -cold turkey...(I'm making a voodoo doll of my endo :0 ! -These swings back and forth are going to make me nuts!...Ah well,I'm pretty sure I was being over-medicated anyway)...So...If I can stimulate my thyroid to kick into gear before my Endo gets any ideas of putting me back on the Synthroid (I'm post-thyroiditis), maybe I won't need it? I'm taking kelp supplements and eat seafood regularly...
Avatar n tn How long have you been on Synthroid? What dose? Do you have recent labs to post? If so, please post with reference ranges which vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report. Have you been diagnosed with Hashi's or other cause of your hypo?
878888 tn?1319634044 So you take synthroid.......your doc should have given you a thyroid antibody test for auto immune thyroid, that is the standard next step. Hoshimotos disease is hypothyroid caused by antibodies. You really need to know this. It needs to regulated closer than just a slow thyroid. And since its an auto immune disease other autoimmune diseases have a greater chance to happen- so you need to pay attention to your body more and play it safe. Did you know Diabetes is an auto immune disease?
Avatar n tn My wife is having ratiation iodine treatment next month and starts her low-iodine diet on Monday (July 28). I am concerned that the doctor just switched her from cytomel to synthroid and told her to continue taking this until her treatment. I was under the impression that she should stop synthroid two weeks before the treatment.
1438633 tn?1283891249 I have been on synthroid for about a year or so. I am still really struggling with weight loss. I have changed my diet (no sugars, very low carb) and I excercise about 3-4x a week. I am still unable to lose the weight w/o the aid of diet pills,. I went to the doc, he told me that. " I'm getting old".. WTH? I am 42.. The second issue is all the headache, they are very similar to migraines and they stop me in my tracks.
Avatar f tn I was put on 150 mcg of Synthroid for over a year and recently received a call from my doctor saying my levels were low and prescribed me 125 mcg of Synthroid. I don't understand why he did that. Isn't 150 mcg a higher dosage than 125 mcg?
Avatar f tn I am on the low iodine diet for my 1 year follow up test for my papillary cancer. I just wonder if anyone else has had this symptom. 1 week after my surgery when I went home I was put on levothroxine and I became very short of breath. My family dr. put me thru a bunch of tests which of course came out ok. People suggested that the name brand should be used for some people and you might feel better. Well I was put on 150mcg of synthroid.
Avatar n tn My total cholesterol was 548 2 months ago increased synthroid from 50 to 100 now cholesterol is 240 and we have increased synthroid to 125.No cholesterol pills just synthrois increase. Good Luck.My blood pressure is high as well. I have hypo with hashimoto's.
Avatar n tn I recently had a total thyroidectomy and am now taking .112mg of Synthroid. I'm starting to gain weight and would like to get back on track. Is it safe to take slim quick or other diet pills with my Synthroid?
Avatar f tn Hi, My husband is 42 years old and have diagnosed with thyroid cancer and thyroid gland was removed this year Jan. He under the medication of synthroid now. Before this issue also he was having high levels of triglyceride in this blood. Before 2 months when he checked it was under 250 and when he checked this month it was increased to 393. Now my question is with proper exercise and diet can his triglyceride can be reduced? & people with no thyroid gland can also reduce the triglyceride?
Avatar m tn "Is there any one reason for all these". Not sure the reference ranges for the SGPT or SGOT so don't know if they are out of range or not, but your TSH is too high, as is your Triglycerides, plus your HDL cholesterol is too low...... High TSH suggests hypothyroidism; hypothyroidism can cause high triglycerides and low HDL. Has your doctor prescribed you a thyroid replacement hormone or ordered further testing, such as Free T3, Free T4 or thyroid antibody tests?
Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and am taking Synthroid .05. It's been over 4 months now. I came on this site because this morning I didn't take my pill because I had an early MIBI nuclear test at the hospital which lasted till noon. But after reading the comments I will not worry about it and take tomorrow morning. However I was wondering if there is a special diet or food that should not be taken.
Avatar f tn Upon diagnosis, I started a heart- healthy diet at the same time as reducing the Synthroid. I have lost 29.5 lbs. since November 2013. Definitely need new clothes!
1825702 tn?1317577765 Last week i got diagnosed with hypothyroidism and it's pissing me off. I'm taking synthroid but they're a lot of problems with my diet. I eat extremely healthy, but now thanks to the research I've been doing i can't have Brassica/cruciferous vegetables(goitrogens), can't have tuna fish because of the iodine, can't have iron.
Avatar f tn has not regulated my TSH levels yet. All she seems to do is play my dose of Synthroid (i am now on 175 mg) and hope the next blood levels come close to normal range. Each time my dose gets increased, I gain a pound or two...I am now up 16-18 pounds since my thyroid was removed. I tell her how impossible it is for me to lose any weight and explain that I eat healthy and exercise at least 4 days a week. I always get this look like I am lying about my eating habits....
Avatar n tn I don't think diet pills are ever called for. I don't know how long you've been on thyroid med, but many people begin to lose weight after they get on med and get stabilized. While you may lose weight with diet pills, it's very seldom a "lasting" thing, because, for many/most people, they gain the weight back as soon as they go off the diet pills; however, keep in mind that many diet pills don't work at all, or only if you restrict your diet too much.
Avatar m tn This time he had me start the low-iodine last week and stop taking my Synthroid for 2 weeks.. So Monday coming (the 13th).. I am going in to get shot #1 of the Thyrogen then Tuesday shot #2 then am I understanding correctly? I get the RAI (I131) pills again skip a day then get my scan of Friday? I'm confused as to why I had to stop taking my Synthroid and get on this stupid low-iodine diet again if I'm getting the Thryrogen shots. Can someone help me understand all this?
Avatar f tn I have been taking 25 mcg for approximately two years. Doc prescribed it for me, not because of hypo symptoms, but because my cholesterol was a bit high. Her quote: "Let's thump your thyroid as see if it helps with your cholesterol". She said thyroid labs showed I was "on the low end of normal", but "normal" none the less. Note: Cholesterol was at 218, bad rather high, good very low. Being completely ignorant to these things, I trusted her judgement.
Avatar f tn Hi....I have to say that since i have been on synthroid ( for about 1 year now)...i have gained about 25 lbs....i cannot seem to lose it at all....my dr had said this type of thyroid problem should cause weight loss, not gain....not seeing this at all...actually, total opposite....last night i joined the gym which i will start tonight....wondering if anyone found that taking this medication along with workouts at the gym have helped with the weight gain?
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with hypothyroid. I’ve been taking 75 grams of Synthroid for two years now. I have gained 20 lbs and 2 dress-sizes in that time frame. I am 46 years old and I am currently around 135 lbs. Other than my pregnancy, I have never weighed this much. My skin is extremely dry and fatty. I have cellulite on my entire thigh! I am a person that doesn’t eat that much at all. I am a healthy eater (salad, balanced meals, etc.). I exercise regularly.
Avatar m tn This has still not answered my question.. I had to take radioactive iodine to destroy my thyroid.. I take 1.25 mcg daily, can I take kelp also with the synthroid??? In the 80's I went on a kelp,lecithin.b6 vinegar diet and lost a lot of weight.. but I need to know if I can take kelp safely with synthroid??
Avatar n tn I have been taking Synthroid for about 9 years now and have my TSH tested at least once a year. I just had it done this month and the result was 4.704, which is slightly above normal limits according to the nurse. She told me my physician was going to keep my dosage the same, which is 100mcg, even though my physician noted at my exam that my thyroid gland was enlarged and I am having classic hypothyroidism symptoms.
Avatar n tn does anyone know if iodine is in my multivitamin if this will affect my labs, synthroid dose???
