Synthroid breastfeeding

Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid breastfeeding

synthroid

Avatar f tn Anyhow, I recently went to see an endocronologist and one of the things he told me was that I would have to stop taking my pre-natal pill because it counter-acts the synthroid. This is very bothersome to me because I am breastfeeding and the vitamin is extremely important for me and my baby. He also stated that the vitamin was actually dangerous for my baby and I.
Avatar n tn I am 7 months post-partum and am breastfeeding. I am working at a pretty stressful job part-time (veterinarian) and probably not eating as much as I should. My TSH was actually high (10, unsure of the units) and fT4 was 0.97. My doctor could not feel a goiter. My doctor wants to start Synthroid, but I am worried that I will actually lose more weight if I do. Instead, should we be doing more investigation as to why the TSH is elevated? I was thinking a CBC, full blood panel, etc.
Avatar n tn i am unable to do iodine test as i am breastfeeding. my question is what do these tests mean. i have a basic understanding of them but i am looking for for a diagnosis such as graves rather then hashi and such. T3 free- 2.1 pg/ml FT4 .40ng/dl Thyroid pero AB 51.1 u/ml Thyroglobul ab 1:400 titer and my last TSH done a week prior to the other tests was 0.05 uiu/ml.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed as hypo in 2006 when I was about 4 months pregnant with my first baby. I was put on 50 mcg of synthroid and steadily increased to .75mcg until I delivered. After delivery, my levels were tested again and it was determined my thyroid was "fine" and I was taken off synthroid. 6 weeks later, I was depressed, my hair fell out (I realize this happens postpartum also) |I couldn't lose a pound (despite breastfeeding) I had panic attacks etc, I could barely move.
Avatar n tn I had a baby 6 weeks ago. I really feel strongly about breast feeding but I am having a great deal of trouble producing enough milk. My TSH level is 0.01 and my OBGYN wants me to reduce my Synthroid from 1.75 to 1.25. I feel great, no signs of "over medication". I question reducing my dosage. Is he right? Will reducing my dosage help me produce more breast milk?
Avatar f tn thyroiditis is another name for hashimoto disease. From my understanding it is where your body goes from hypo to hyper and back again, until your thyroid burns out. It seems that the main thing to do until that time is treat the symptoms. It also does not sound like your dr is very involved. Has he not offered you any kind of therapy or treatment options? Is there any other option for you in terms of drs? sometimes you have to see as many as 6, from what I have heard.
Avatar f tn Now I do suffer from anemia and also had half my thyroid removed from cancer but am taking synthroid and suffer from pretty horrible anxiety and depression which right now only take xanax as needed as I am breastfeeding and cannot take lexapro while doing that.
Avatar n tn I went from hyper to hypo. My endocrine had made the mistake of putting me on Tapazole and I became severely hypo. Now to rectify it, I've been on 125 ml of synthroid. I've been on syntroid for a 6 weeks and started noticing excessive hair loss within the past week. I've been tested a week ago and my levels are on the higher side of the normal range. I do feel great, but still losing so much hair. My doctor calls it Telogen effluvium? Is that possible? Or is it the medication?
89559 tn?1234880265 Back in 2004 I was diagnosed with low stage follicular variant papillary carcinoma and had a total thyroidectomy with central neck dissection. Since then with either generic form or the present synthroid 150 mcg I've been suffering with a sore tongue and a bitter taste in my mouth. (A white coating as well) The doc gave me penicillian back in Jan and it seemed to clear up for about 2 wks and now it's back again.
Avatar n tn What dosage is higher for Synthroid .112 or .125?? I would think .125 or does it apply the opposite and .112 is stronger??
1139187 tn?1355706647 On about 3 weeks of synthroid, .125 which appears to be my correct average dose based on my weight. My biggest complaint is the freakin fatigue. I see this report where a lot of folks have this fatigue. Am i to assume that if this is successful the fatigue will just dissapear at one time in life? http://www.ehealthme.com/synthroid yes I know. only 3 weeks, and yes i have tried a lot of different things. So please spare me the lecture on that.
Avatar n tn I have been recently diagnosed with thyroiditis. I'm currently in a hypo stage and have been put on synthroid - 50mg a day. I've been on the meds for 5 weeks and am still gaining weight. I began on June 11 and since then have gained aprx 1.2 lbs a week. I feel bloated and swollen, but when I went to the endo. she said that it would take a while for my metabolism to catch up with my blood work - which now has a TSH of 1.2.
2121656 tn?1395674749 I started taking 25 mgs. of synthroid on Sept. 4th, and right away I've had relieve from a lot of my symptoms, including indigestion & heartburn. Probably is the placebo effect. Either way I'm still symptom free except for the heartburn, that's actually worse than before taking synthroid. I am having it all day. Therefore, I'm not sure if the synthroid is the cause or if it may be caused from me drinking my morning coffee without taking the protonix.
Avatar n tn I have taken synthroid for over 30 years. My levels are normal. If I stopped taking the medication would it be dangerous?
Avatar n tn I started taking Synthroid without having an actual diagnosis of hypothyroidism. now if i skip a dose, my body feels super weird. will i ever go back to normal or will i need syntrhoid for the rest of my life now?
Avatar n tn So I finally got diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and just picked up my prescription of Synthroid, the problem is, it's 100mcg and the doctor said she would start me out on a low dose. I was under the impression it would be in the 25-50 mcg range. My question is, is it too high of a dose? If it is how do I know? Do I break it in half? Agh, the confusion!
Avatar n tn i have a thyroid nodule/adenoma and my doctor just put me on synthroid 100mcg for 4 months to shrink this adenoma is this process correct ???
Avatar n tn When you tell a doctor that your hair is falling out whenyou are on synthroid why don't they listen to you there must be something else to give you. My doctor told me my hair is falling out because of my operation. I don't believe that. I had two other operations and it never happened before.
548780 tn?1233769602 I felt rushed and overwhelmed with everything he told me and now I have a zillion question that I have thought of overnight. Started Synthroid today. Get my blood work done again in 6 weeks and And that's all I can remember from my Dr. visit. Geese!
