synthroid

87651 tn?1259602403 I am wondering if that is a sign that I may need to increase on my meds. When I went to the 90 mgs of Armour.. I itched for a few weeks then it subsided. Now its returning. My Dr says that it could be the 3T, but doesnt think its an allergic reaction the Armour because he said it wouldnt come and go. Any advice??
327369 tn?1326119908 It started with my hands and feet and then moved to the rest of my body. I took some zyrtec and it gets better but comes back. Now it is mainly my scalp and head/face. Just to say: I HAVE NEVER HAD ALLERGIES OR REACTIONS. I am 31 and have never had to take allergy meds. So..........I do not see this being the issue. I cannot understand where this is coming from. Even with my thyroid I never have had dry skin or itching. This is totally new. Any ideas? I am so itchy!
Avatar f tn Where was your itching? mine generates in my ears and throat and at times I feel like I am itching from the inside of my body out. Every time I try to increase my ears itch so bad I could die....does it iease up. I tried synthroid cannot take it. Had a really bad reaction on one pill, so stuck with levothryroxine which I am not sure is aggravating my allergies or not..
Avatar n tn PTU is treatment for hyperthyroidism. If your on Synthroid you aren't really connected to a PTU treatment. The skin crawling sensation is a common talked about concern for thyroid patients. Its a reaction to the meds and in most cases not really a concern as it is a short lived issue. Usually two weeks its gone along with a mild headache for some.
Avatar n tn I was allergic to the acacia/ pollen in synthroid.. Had the same issue .. Changed to levoxyl . itching and rash gone .
Avatar f tn I know it is the synthroid because right after I take it I begin itching and stinging, and now some chest tightness.. Tried Armour and am having the same problem. Could it be an inactive ingredient in the meds? And, if so, what other options do I have? I have looked up all the medications available for hypothyroid and they all seem to contain the same inactive ingredients. Getting pretty scared at this point. Dr.
Avatar n tn Hey Doc, I had papillary cancer about 6 years ago. I just switched from synthroid to levothyroxine about a week ago, and now I'm itching like crazy! My arms and legs mostly. It's unbelievable. Is their enough of a difference between the two drugs to cause such side affects? Please help! I'm itching up a storm! And switching to levothyroxine is the ONLY thing that I have changed! Thanks!
Avatar f tn Decided that I wanted to stick with desiccated thyroid and after being on Synthroid for one day took Nature thyroid for one day. I feel that the itching is returning. What is going on?? It's supposed to be hypoallergenic? I'm on same dose as Armour 30 in am and 30 at 2pm. Thanks!
910435 tn?1296748610 We moisturizer her twice a day and we also put Vaseline on her. We give her Benadryl. She is no longer itching. Try these methods and also post your levels for your thyroid. It could be hormonal.
Avatar f tn I have been taking synthroid ( generic and brand) for over ten years. All of a sudden I have itching all over my body about 5 hours after taking it. I know it is related to the synthroid because if I skip a day or two I don't itch. My doctor and my allergist don't think it's the synthroid. Don't know what to do. I know I have to take it for life. I wasn't offered any alternatives except for taking 50 mug tabs because they don't have the dye.
Avatar n tn He started needing synthroid about 2+ years ago and had no reaction to taking the synthroid. His arms and legs are covered in hives and he has tried cortisone creams and other oils to moisturize, but nothing helps. He had his Tsh checked a few months ago, and we didn't hear from the doctor, so assumed the same dose of synthroid was needed. Perhaps it is not so. This itching is making him miserable, and nothing helps.
Avatar n tn Since that time, I have taken Synthroid daily. In 2001, I started at 100 mcg of Synthroid, went down to 75 mcg, and for the past few years have been on 50 mcg of Synthroid daily. My symptoms of weight gain, fogginess, and depression seemed to be normalized and everything was ok except for my hair, which has been slowly but steadily thinning, falling out, and becoming more brittle. In April of this year I started to feel “off” and on May 4th had my blood drawn at a lab.
Avatar n tn His nails are short and kept trimmed. He is on Coreg,Lantus, vit c,multivits and zinc. As well as synthroid and sinemet. We would love to help alleviate this itching sensation and protect his skin. any suggestions.
Avatar f tn Now, my fingers itch, especially between the thumb and the index finger, There are no blisters or pus, but there is cracked and white and yellowish scaly skin on my fingers.I am on synthroid for hypothyroid, and I've had mild psoriasi on my elbows before. The itching subsides usually when I use heavy moisturizers, however the minute my palms get drier, the itching starts again. Hopefully, someone will shed some light over my condition. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I started taking Synthroid 2 weeks ago and now my vagina is red, itching and burning. I did a urine test at my doctors office because I thought I had a yeast infection or urinary tract infection, but when it came back it was negative. I have applied vagisil, monistat and even vaseline, but nothing is helping. Does anyone know if synthroid causes vaginal irritation? Please Help!
Avatar f tn post-opreration my thyroid level plummeted and my Dr. had to take me off the 60 mg. and now I am only on 30 mg and STILL I get the itching. to say I am frustrated is putting it mildly. I have been on the Thyroid blog with Mary Shoman and I see where others are also having problems but what are we supposed to do when we DO NOT want the articificial thyroid RXs the Drs are so quick to push.
501096 tn?1320874932 HI, i m suffering from itching near my ankle but on 1 side and it has swollen up and its in one leg only and in the itching side only and the other side of the same ankle is normal and not itching too. i strached it and i hv pain in my knee too is that due to increase in uric acid?
Avatar m tn On THYROID it went as high as 200 sys and on Synthroid 195. I am working now with my doc to reduce and take me off all thyroid meds and I plan to migrate to kelp (iodine extract) and if necessary L-tyrosine to boost my T3 production. I also have a bright red facial rash which migrated to my neck. Blurring of vision and headaches are also side affects. In 2002 the AMA lowered the entry level to hypothyroidism scooping up 50 million formerly borderline thyroid problems.
480320 tn?1218496345 Cytomel is an added T3 so your doctor feels adding T3 is right for you with your SYnthroid. Sounds pretty solid that he decreased your Synthroid to add this too. No I am off all synthetic thyroid meds and take Armour. This is different than Synthroid and has the T's all built in one tablet You may notice after a few days taking Cytomel that your body temp may warm - some energy will return. But introducing any T3 in can cause some ... well unusual feelings.
Avatar m tn diabetic, MRI shows asymmetry towards greater right side, edema on legs and around ankles. skin started tearing and itching, Endocrinologist is not ready to treat. taking synthroid, chlostrol medicines, diabetic med, hypertension med. center obesity. guide to what can be done.
Avatar f tn But, ever since I started taking the Synthroid, I have been itching all over my body, been so irritable, so hungry, bad gas (sorry) and my heart beat has been fast. All these symptoms were my symptoms in the beginning of being hyperthyroid. Called the doc today and he is on a vacation (seems like he's on a vacation every two and a half months). So the nurse was there and I ask her why are these symptoms back?
Avatar n tn i also use aveeno skin relief shower gel, it makes a world of difference. and if the itching is horrilbe i take some allergy medicine and that helps, i either take benadryl or chlor-tabs, sometimes both if its really bad.
Avatar n tn I have been on thyroid meds for 10 years I heard that taking iodine would fix my thyroid so I got some thyodine and took it a few days and after a few days my skin was on fire and itchy and really bad heart palpitations I did stop the iodine about a month ago but when i take my meds my skin starts itching again and my face feels burnt is this iodine still in my system??
4121079 tn?1400268794 t have a question just stating what I have researched on my symptoms, I had been on Synthroid, Levothyroxine, I had started itching in April of 2014, till present, I Had went to the Endo, but He didn't think I was allergic to it, well I am allergic to something never in my life had I been allergic for anything to make me have rash or hives, this web page I found really answered my thoughts and questions, Even if you have hypo or hyper, you can experience hives or rashes before any treatment,
Avatar f tn 75 dose of synthroid. I noticed for three weeks before I started the synthroid...my skin started itching and I would break out in huge hives and then i started getting hard knots in the back of my neck and the back of my head. I called the Endo. and his nurse told me he said it was not related to me not having a thyroid, I kept getting worse and he finally increased my dose to .100 and told me to go to my regular family dr. for the rash..
Avatar m tn ve been doing extremely well on the synthroid and will hate to stop but if it is what can i do to control the out breaks. 1- I've changed my make up 2- laundry soap 3- facial products to help rule out these factors but nothing seems to be working....
