586140 tn?1219078962 for the last 5 yrs. On Synthroid and then diag. w/ papillary carsinoma. TT in april and back on Synthroid again. The pain is mostly in by shoulders and hands. It keeps me awake and have a constant need to move my legs. I am so stiff when I try to get up in the morning. No energy. Try to eat healthy and take calcim, Vit. D, Calcitrol, Synthroid, sleeping pills and antidepressants. Man. I'm tired.
Avatar n tn I've had those joint pains off and on too. If it got bad (rarely ever) I'd take an anti-inflammatory and that would keep it away for the rest of the day. You may notice some change with the synthyroid you may not. How is your diet? I know nobody likes to hear this, but diet plays a big role. Congrats to it not being RA.
534785 tn?1329592208 For those of you suffering from really painful joint aches/pains, what do you do or take to alleviate the pain? I've been taking ibuprofen, but I'm wondering if anyone has done anything else, aside from take synthetic hormones, that has helped lessen the pain, since I'd prefer not to consistently take ibuprofen. Also, tremoring--do I have to wait until I receive synthetic hormones to get rid of the constant shaking, or is there something that might help with this? Thanks!
562054 tn?1216155937 Hello, I had a total thyroidectomy in January. I am gaining weight, have mood issues, depression, anxiety, exhaustion, hair loss, joint pains, just to name a few. I'm seeing my Dr this week, and I'll find out my results from bloos tests. Just what should the TSH levels be? I really think my synthroid should be increased & I want to go in there with some good information. My BIGGEST concern is the weight gain!!
Avatar n tn after 2 weeks of medication, i started experiencing joint pains and mainly foot pains. we found that vitamin D is low(8), which started from past 2 weeks with D2 50000 UI. so far I dont feel improvement in foot pains. and my liver values AST and ALT became higher. 1102845 tn?1285493058 The only thyroid option is to consider combined T4 (synthroid) and T3 (cytomel) - in this case reducing synthroid to 75 and adding 5mcg of cytomel in the am along w/ the synthroid.
Avatar m tn Hi All, This is a little background .. I am 36 yrs old female. I am struggling from 2 years almost still I don't know what has happened to me. I started having muscle and joint pains two years back and my TSH jumped to 7 or 8. So the doc prescribed synthroid to me. After struggling for a year with muscle pain joint pain constipation, I somehow convinced my doc to increase dose and was taking 100mcg, my tsh was 0.01 and free t3 & t4 were with in the limits.
Avatar n tn I just started on synthroid, is it common to have an unusal increase in joint pain and other symptons?
Avatar f tn switching to synthroid and cytomel should give you the same benefits.
243059 tn?1202377352 Thyroid antibodies are high and I have tons of abdominal pains and chest pains. Chest pains feel like whole chest area is sore. I also have joint pain in my fingers and so on. I'm wondering if I might have an auto immune disorder developed from my antibodies attacking my thyroid and gone to other places. I'm tired of trying to diagnose myself. I have been to numerous doctors and to one endocrinologist and I still feel like ****.
Avatar f tn s scientific evidence for joint and muscle pain being associated with over or under medication. The joint pain is most often from too much medication, and the muscle pain, edema, cramping and spasms in feet and legs is most often associated w/ under-medication. But not always, for some people is can be the opposite. Sweet, huh? There is a big association between hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia as well.
Avatar f tn I went to Dr four months ago with severe swelling in hands feet and face and severe joint pain and fatigue. My TSH was 34. He switched me from levo to armour (90 mgs). The first week I felt much better but started swelling again and had terrible fatigue. Went back about two weeks later and he changed me to synthroid 150mgs. The swelling got a little better but still fatigued and joint pain is always there. I went to my gyno for yearly exam two weeks ago and they tested my TSH. it was .
Avatar f tn Thank you so much - upped my calcium/mag/vitamin D supplements and feel a lot better - aches are not as severe and not all the time. I also lost one of my parathyroid glands in my second surgery... so we will see.
Avatar n tn I have had progressive symptoms since removing my thyroid. I started on 150 mcg of synthroid 4x a day and 175 mcg synthroid 3x a day to get TSH in suppression. First I was dizzy, then aggitated, then couldn't sleep, then aversions to exercise (muscles slightly tremor - notice at night), then migraines and positional vertigo during heat (summer) and exercise, then heart tightness/intense beating, blood pressure all over the place...lowering synthroid to 150 mcg every day....
Avatar f tn I am about to stop taking Synthroid (Levothyroxine 112 mcg) and my doctor is aware of this. I've taken it (different levels) for over 30 years. But over the past two years I have lost 110 pounds of excess weight and I want to get off of the prescription drugs that I really do not need. What should I expect to be any negative side effects?
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with hypothyroid last year with a TSH of 87 and the typical hypo symptoms. After starting on 50mcg Synthroid, I improved greatly. It was increased to 100mcg after 6 weeks and I felt even better. Recently my doctor noticed my TSH had slipped from 2.3 to 5.4 and he put me on Synthroid 125mcg. About 10 days after taking the higher dose I started getting all sorts of weird symptoms such as, muscle weakness, joint pain, feeling sluggish.
1691030 tn?1306069524 And as of today 5/21/11 my joint pains, muscle spasms and run over feeling are almost gone. So even though every Dr told me it was just really not possible my pains and stuff where caused by Levothyroxine they have now sort of changed their tune after seeing my improvment with the switch to Synthroid Brand. But I will tell you it was a hell of a fight to get any 1 of the Orthos, Rheumys, Engo, or MD to think that I could be allergic to anything in that gerneric med and to let me try to switch.
Avatar f tn It's not the thyroxine that causes the constipation, it's being hypothyroid. I struggled with constipation of and on for years (I believe I went back and forth between hyper and hypo); and now that I've got my thyroid levels close to where I need them, I find that I no longer have to have the "daily help" using the bathroom. I also take a daily enzyme which helps break down food better. Are you taking vitamin B12 shots for your pernicious anemia?
Avatar f tn In January I was treated for the Hep C with excellent results but am still suffering from major aches and joint pains. I used to be extremely physically active before but this past 2 yrs has brought me down with the hep c and now my thyroid issues. on 8/21 the TSH reflex to free T4 was 53.1, free T4 .90 and thyroid peroxidase AB 64. I had been maintaining on .50mcg for a few years but had many other symptoms, i.e.
Avatar m tn s own thyroid hormone? I am borderline, TSH between 3-5 and I have tried generic synthroid, (gave me severe joint pain all over my body) armour (elevated blood pressure) and then brand synthroid (joint pain in fingers only, increase in ADD symptoms) and even though the brand synthroid 25mcg improved my energy for awhile, that effect is decreasing and I have gained weight in my stomach area which I noticed within 3 weeks of taking it.
Avatar m tn Ok Im no medical expert but I can tell you that I had the most gawd awful joint pains and stiffness three weeks ago when I started meds. I was hypo too and probably still am as I too am on 50mcg of Levothyroxine and doc expects to have to increase this next week when I get blood test. I have to say my joint pains have reduced-not gone but reduced! I also am less intolerant of the cold (id say 6/10 intolerant instead of 10/10!

Some days it is just upper arms and back of thighs, but always the back of the thighs. My bac, side, arm nec mucsles can all ache at once or at different times. No real Joint pain. Just some weakness to hands at times and Rt. wrist. Could this be from the Graves???
483088 tn?1212346249 What Im posting about is the god awful joint pains I am experiencing- I have the fatigue and the brain fog and the sensitivity to cold and all that I can manage -but these jpoint pains are really getting me down. They are worse in my wrists -real bad carpal tunnel syndrome pains, I can't write which is affecting my job - I'm dropping things all the time and the pain that shoots up my thumb area is excruciating if I try to use my hand in a way that it dislikes!
