Synthroid and dizziness

Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid and dizziness

synthroid

Avatar f tn I would say you are still Hypo and stay on the T4 meds until you get tested 4-6 weeks later. It takes a while for the T4 med to 'work' in your body and even though it may be balancing your levels, it is not balanced enough just yet. I have had the occassional headache when I have increased my dose of thyroxoin and it usually wears off after a few weeks. If you find the headaches causing too many problems, then try taking your meds at night....not forgetting to eat for an hour afterwards.
Avatar m tn I suspect that your dizziness my have had less to do with the Synthroid than with possibly getting up too quickly and experiencing a sharp drop in blood pressure. It can also be caused by dehydration, which could be present, if you'd not had anything to drink for several hours. Your FT4 is very near the top of its range. Are those labs prior to starting medication?
Avatar f tn (My Dr. disagrees) I had not a really bad episode with the nausea and dizziness since I have been on Synthroid, just still fatigued and weak.
Avatar f tn You should talk to your doctor but you could be having a reaction to the dyes/fillers in the synthroid. 50 mg of synthroid doesn't have all the fillers. I take 100 mg of synthroid every day but I take 2 - 50mg tablets and voila...no more dizziness. You're also only 3 weeks post-op; takes a while for your body to figure things out.
Avatar f tn t have the labs handy for the 100mcg synthroid and 60mg NTH, but my TSH was .006 and both my FT4 and FT3 were at the high end. My RT3 was 478, which is the reason I don't feel hyper because the meds aren't actually working. I don't feel anxious or shakey and my heart rate is never over 80 and my basal temp is around 97.7 (orally), 96.6 (armpit).
Avatar f tn My Endo doctor told me to stop taking synthroid. I stop taking synthroid for 2 weeks, and the dizziness, left facial heaviness, and headache never completely resolved. Now taking Armour thyroid I woke up today as when I first took synthroid. Whats going on with me? Can anyone help me?
Avatar f tn Meds changes often cause temporary (but annoying) symptoms. If you're not terribly uncomfortable, it might be worthwhile to wait a couple of weeks to see if it resolves itself. Do you know how to equalize the pressure around your eardrum? Does that help? NTH and Synthroid both have iodine in them since both the T3 and T4 molecules contain iodine. In fact, the "3" and "4" refer to the amount of iodine in each.
Avatar n tn Someone else would have to answer if the thyroid itself can cause dizziness or not, but I know when I was on synthroid last (and will be again shortly) it could make me dizzy sometimes. And take a look at your drug sheet that the pharmacist gives you? It may say that dizziness could be a sign of an allergic reaction. Mine did. I had hashi's and the synthroid would throw me hyper, so I'm not sure if it was the thyroid or the medicine. I start back on synthroid tomorrow.
Avatar n tn I self medicate now with Armour (worked up to 2 grs/day over a month) in addition to the small synthroid dose prescribed. As for the aches and pains, I take DHEA and phosphatydilserine daily for the adrenal 'fatigue'. All this helps me make it through each day and I'll not go without any of it.
Avatar n tn t take that much synthroid. Dosed down to 50mg and went hypo; up to 75mg; up to 100mg and it started all over again. Levels were "normal" but I couldn't function. I'm now back on 75mg and everything has evened out. I just couldn't ramp up quickly. Hopefully your blood work will give you some answers.
Avatar m tn Some people do great on Synthroid. I am one who did not. I have been on Levothyroxine (and am now currently), went to Synthroid then Levoxyl then back to Levothyroxine. Mine is kind of a convoluted story as I'd never been on meds prior to my TT last year. My doc started me on a combo of Levo and Cytomel post TT. I was a little jittery on the combo, so I went to Synthroid only to try and convert my own T3... I absolutely hated it.
611475 tn?1221240855 I have been diagnosed with hypothyroid in the past two months and have experienced dizzy spells also. I have been on synthroid almost two weeks and still experience them every now and then except they aren't quite as bad.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have been taking synthroid 137 mg and experience dizziness often. I have had all kinds of test run for the dizziness. (MrI) etc. Everything comes back back normal. Could Synthroid cause the dizziness? Or could hypothyroid cause this? just wondering.
Avatar n tn m still having spells of dizziness and shortness of breath, and this is a week later. I know it takes a while to regulate synthroid levels. I'd appreciate knowing if anyone else has had this. thank you!
Avatar n tn s) and on Synthroid for weeks. She is having dizziness, at times headache too and mood swings. Her first test of TSH/FT3/FT4 has shown significant improvement but her problems are getting bit too much. How long will it take to become normal. At times I feel she was better without treatment.
Avatar n tn I read several posts on dizziness and thyroid. I have suffered severe symptoms for two years. Stopped Cytomel and thought my dizziness subsided. But while we were raising my syntroid (levothyroxin) back up to previous levels, I experienced serious dizziness again. I have had EVERYTHING checked...ears (maniers), MRI of my head, EKG, full on stress test with radioactive isotopes, and everything is normal. I am otherwise perfectly healthy and experiencing dizziness.
Avatar f tn 00058 last year it was 37 they changed me a year ago it was okay but now i need to up my medication again but Im concerned because Im having small head rushes and dizziness on this synthroid for the first 3 hours has anyone else had any issues like this and do you have anxiety is when its low?
Avatar f tn Dizziness can happen while trying to adjust thyroid levels....annoying it is! I get that with my thyroid and my female cycle right before my menses.
Avatar n tn i am very off-balance and when i get out of the car or elevator i still feel like im moving for about 5 minutes. my endo says it isnt related but today i didnt take it and feel great! has anyone else experienced this?? im pretty upset with the dr who says i may have a touch of the FLU!? i know my body and this really *****. my appetite has also increased, vision worsened, and occasional tremors. i need help!
1383890 tn?1279513531 I started taking .05 generic synthroid and started to feel extremely dizzy..(like I was on a boat ALL the time) it was so bad that I went to an ENT because I thought it was my inner ear. After tests and 6 weeks of no answers my ENT said its not my ears. Im 33y Female- Otherwise great health, so I thought maybe (even though I was told that synthroid doesn't cause dizziness) that it may be this medicine that is making me sick. I stopped taking it today, but I am still dizzy.
Avatar f tn My dhea is low so I just started dhea . I there another way to treat my adreanals and am I allergic to armour. Synthroid seems alittle better but I was still dizzy. I was tested for menaires. My dizziness is like motion sickness and I have horrible with short term memoryloss.
277535 tn?1218136198 I am 31 yo female, 5.5, 134 lbs, very athletic and active. Currently on 112 mcg Synthroid since Oct 2008. Labs done on 12/1 TSH 0.34 (0.34-5.6) - TSH was 2.58 in Oct on 100 mcg synthroid. TT3 88 (97-219) flagged low Endo won't run FreeT4 or freeT3. I am not sure why not though since I am on T4 meds. Had a CBC at the same time as well and glucose was low at 72 (74-118) and Osmo Serum Calcium low at 274 (275-295).
509437 tn?1210909765 But then my TSH started to drop and I was going hypo and thus my doctor started me on Synthroid. That very first week of taking it I started with being dizzy. I questioned my doctor, my surgeon, my pharmacist. Everyone told me that there is no way Synthroid would make me dizzy until I met a customer at my pharmacy who had the same thing happen to her. So now for 5 months since my surgery I am dizzy to the point of almost falling over if I turn me head too quick.
