Avatar m tn Hello, my name is Keri. Once in a while, it seems during ovulation, or a week before my period I start to feel nausea. This has decreased some, since I have been trying to do gluten free and dairy free. I had blood tests run for numerous things, and the Gyn also ran some tests to see if possible Ovarian cancer. All the tests came back fine. They think that it may be perimenopausal? does this sound possible. I am 39.
Avatar n tn Since then, I have had irregular bleeding that stopped around March (I was nursing at that time). I skipped my period in March, but had very bad cramps during ovulation and at the beginning of my next period. I again skipped a period in May but resumed menstruation in June and July, with pain/bloating during ovulation and at menses. OB ordered a trans vag ultrasound that came back negative. About a month ago, I had a CT scan of my entire pelvis and a cysts plural (spelling?
Avatar f tn My pain is normally the few days surrounding ovulation, sometimes right before at the beginning of my period, but never as bad as during ovulation. I get nausea in the mornings, I'm tired, my immunity system is weakened. I have major SI joint problems from carrying my daughter, so I don't know if they're causing extra pain in that area or not, I usually get a little swollen in the SI area during PMS time.
Avatar n tn Over 95% of all cysts are benign so it is more than likely not cancerous. There is a lot of information on types of cysts on the health pages (top right). An endometrial cyst is one that is created by endometrial tissue migrating from your uterus to your ovary and then starts bleeding. You should discuss with your doctor whether these cysts or the endometriosis might be affecting your ability to conceive. Good luck.
Avatar f tn as opposed to cysts only hurt during certain times of month? My gyno. says not to worry about my ovarian cyst on my remaining left ovary that she thinks is NOT a chocolate cyst, though the u/s tech (who has been a u/s tech for 15 yrs. and showed me the cyst and other funtional clear cysts-you could see the difference easily! and I have had a choc. cyst before that ruptured, needing emergency surgery-2 pints of blood ended up in my abdomen). The ER Dr. also concurred it is a choc.
Avatar m tn 5 cm ovarian cyst, not a dermoid though. Dermoid cysts are benign (non-cancerous). But most other types of ovarian cysts are benign too. The average woman's lifetime risk of ovarian cancer is less than 2%. Like you, I was 49 years old. My gynecologist should have just removed the cyst or the one ovary but he removed everything (hysterectomy and oophorectomy). I have been suffering the many after-effects ever since (8 years). I aged 15 years by 4 months post-op.
Avatar f tn Cysts can cause plenty of discomfort and symptoms and still be benign. Some form and never go away without medical or surgical intervention. You will not know what you have without a gyn exam and ultrasound. Ask a gynecologist what these tests cost and see if you are able to afford it without insurance. Ultrasound can be done right in a gynecologist's office and are much less harmful and expensive than a CT scan which can use an excessive amount of radiation.
Avatar n tn It probably IS a cyst since women form them when we ovulate anyway. They're supposed to go away in a few days when the egg finally ruptures through during ovulation. Most of the time we never notice when it happens. I usually knew exactly when I was ovulating and on what side. It was uncomfortable, but nothing like the pain of a slowly draining or ruptured cyst that's been cooking for months.
162784 tn?1227296050 Just wondering if you had actually been diagnosed with having ovarian cysts because regular pains during ovulation can be quite normal and can indicate that you did indeed ovulate.
Avatar f tn ll get a cyst on the follicle from which the egg was released during ovulation. I had one on my left ovary in the very beginning of my pregnancy, so the doctor knows that I ovulated from the left side. Not sure the size of mine, but I have heard it can cause some issues if it is really large. If it's "normal" size and from ovulation, it will typically just go away on it's own. Congratulations on your pregnancy!
1100722 tn?1259638528 am a 18yrs old female ,and i had an ovarian cysts which was on my ovary ,which was remove during surgery when i was16yrs old,so what am askins is ,if its possible for me to get pregnant because i have been trying and i never meet sucess?
Avatar f tn Hello, The fertility drug clomiphene (Clomid, Serophene), which is used to induce ovulation, increases the risk of a corpus luteum cyst developing after ovulation. These cysts don't prevent or threaten a resulting pregnancy. Most ovarian cysts disappear in 8 to 12 weeks. One of the most effective treatments for ovarian cysts is use of contraceptive pills or progesterone pills. It can also be treated surgically and this procedure is known as drilling.
Avatar m tn Also check out the ovarian cyst forum at medhelp for discussion of the managements of ovarian cysts that are not related to ovarin cancer good luck
Avatar f tn If the pelvic ultrasound was not transvaginal you might want to request one to see if you have ovarian cysts. They can cause the symptoms you are experiencing. I was diagnosed with IBS for 18 months but it turned out my problems were being caused by cysts on my ovary. Once the cysts were removed and I had recovered from my surgeries the symptoms went away. Good luck.
Avatar f tn When i get ovulation pains it last for a couple of days. It sounds like ovulation pains.
Avatar n tn They were able to do an ultasund and stated that I have bilateral ovarian cysts. They appear simple in nature, will a small amount of fluid in the cul-de-sac. The right cyst is 3cm and the left is 4.5 cm in size. Is the size of these cysts concerning considering that my Gyn stated that there were no cysts on 4/29 during the lap procedure? Should I be concerned about these cysts representing something more than simple cysts? Thank you for your time.
20922415 tn?1661860103 A short luteal phase of less than 10 days is an indication of insufficient progesterone levels. This often results in cycle disorders and a desired pregnancy is difficult to achieve or does not occur at all. Furthermore, low progesterone levels increase the risk of miscarriage in early pregnancy. Experts, therefore, recommend that in these cases progesterone should be given to support the pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Your symptoms are also the symptoms of cysts - it doesn't need to rupture to hurt. You should follow up with your ob/gyn.
Avatar f tn m wondering how this turned out for any of you that had ovarian cysts and chest/rib pains. My 17-yr old started having really bad abdominal pains a couple months ago and at the ER they discovered she had an ovarian cyst on her right side. It flares up each month since during ovulation and then mellows out in between. The ob/gyn had her start a birth control pill but then had her stop it about a month later because of some symptoms.
Avatar n tn I am not over weight, 42 years old and do have a family history of ovarian cancer on mothers side but my mother did not have ovarian cancer - she had a full hysterectomy at age 40. Should I go ahead and have my ovary removed?
Avatar m tn I recently went to the doctor to follow up on nausea that I have had for many years which was always dismissed. I also recently started developing left side abdominal pain and every so often right side pain which would come and go. I went to the dr on Tuesday and she thought I had shingles even though no rash. Long story short, she also sent me for a pelvic ultrasound and she called today to say that I have a complicated right ovarian cyst. I am completing losing my mind.
Avatar f tn HI. How long has the cyst been there? When cysts are discovered the doctors will normally observe it for up to 3 months to see if it disappears itself, which a lot of cysts can. If it is causing severe pain, not resolving, or if it is suspicious in any way the cyst may be removed or drained. Most ovarian cysts are harmless.
720499 tn?1230845510 ve heard quite the opposite regarding ovulation and ovarian cysts. Many times patients are placed on birth control pills to halt ovulation. Cysts are a normal part of ovulation and no ovulation, no cysts. It's just that sometimes the cyst doesn't disappear as it should. At least that's the treatment for a number of ladies on here . Also, regarding fertility.. you may still conceive with one ovary.. it "takes over" the job of the missing ovary.
Avatar n tn If you are 40-50, then perimenopause is a possible cause. But, ovarian cysts at any age can change your hormones and cause these types of symptoms. Unfortunately, no two ovarian cysts show themselves in the same way. So, it is hard to say without having tests to rule out all other causes. In general the list of symptoms you describe sound like they could be related to menopause. But, if you are under 45, then that is less likely.
Avatar f tn Even a faint 1st line means a positive test result. Ovarian cysts can be triggered by a spike in hormones, usually during ovulation. However, not to scare you, ecoptic pregnancy pains closly resemble ovarian cyst pain in the beginning. Please go see your obgyn to test for pregnancy and tell them about your pain. Good luck!!
Avatar f tn I was still having problems with ovarian cysts and was put on continuous birth control to prevent ovulation. I ended up having 4 surgeries for the cysts and adhesions. My gyno finally agreed to remove the ovary and I hoped my problems would be solved. A few weeks before the surgery, my pelvic pain became severe and poorly controlled with pain meds. During the surgery, she took the right ovary and tube, removed some uterine fibroids and endometriosis.
