In the past twelve months, I have had five ruptured ovarian cysts (always on my left side) and had all the symptoms discussed by others. I had a cyst rupture a week ago today and it is the worst one I have ever had. The pain has been much worse than previous ruptured cysts and has lasted longer. Usually, my peak pain lasts a few days. This time, a week later, I pretty much feel like I did day one.
I have already in the past had a ruptured right ovarian cyst has well as a bartholins cyst removed twice on the right side within a two month period. The pan I have had feels like I have a something the size of a tennis ball pushing down trough my vaginal area for 9 months. Just hope I a finally getting to the bottom of it all as I am at the end of my tether with this pressure and pain.
I am not a Dr by any means, but can tell you experience about a ruptured cyst. I had numerous ovarian cysts, some would rupture, some would need surgery. When I would have a rupture usually it was a very serious, intense, double me over type pain that would ease in a couple of hours, but still feel tender. My last cyst that ruptured however did become a more emergent surgery for me.
Your symptoms do sound very much like it could be a cyst.. but many other things can cause the same symptoms. When you request that ultra sound.... make sure it is a Transvaginal Ultrasound... aka TVUS... not a regular ultrasound... And... I know you know this but remember 95-99% of all ovarian cysts are benign !!!
I am wondering if we should be alarmed and if the blood filled ruptured cyst means ovarian cancer, and whether because it ruptured the blood would have affected other areas with cancer cells.

I had to get off of the pill because all I had was cyst after cyst. I had to have an abdominal laparoscopy done to remove the cysts, because they were large. My OBGYN told me that if I didnt want anymore cysts to get on the Depo Provera shot. so I started taking the shot and I have not had one cyst that I know of since. I have a pelvic ultrasound done every 6 months to check for them and the ultrasound is always negative.

Abdominal Pain and Possible Ruptured Ovarian Cyst. What I don't understand is why I haven't had any bleeding or symptoms before that. This Doctor pretty much just shrugged her shoulders and wrote a prescription for Tylenol 3 then told me to follow up with my gyno in a couple of days. Now Im just bloated, tender, and still in pain.

When I had the ultrasound you'd think that they would have found more cysts if I had them, but with the doctors I had been seeing they didn't find anything until it was ruptured. What are the lingering effects of a ruptured ovarian cyst? I've had cysts before but this one is different. It ruptured almost two weeks ago, causing extreme abdominal pain. I recognized the pain so I went to an urgent care the next day instead of the ER. A few days later, I began having lower back pain. Hello all! I am 31 and have history of complex ovarian cysts that have all resolved on their own. Last month I had another cyst that ruptured as well as an ectopic pregnancy. I am almost certain I had another this cycle, aching on left ovary and feeling of pressure on the bladder, now I am having constant discomfort under my right rib cage, almost feels like a gas bubble trapped.
1 cm. A few small subcentimeter left follicular ovarian cysts are identified. There is no longer evidence of previously described 2.0 cm complex left ovarian cyst.
The right ovary measures 3.8 x 2.0 x 4.0 cm and contains a thick walled complex right ovarian cyst measuring 3.4 x 1.4 x 4.0 cm. This was not noted on prior MRI examination. Clinical correlation and close follow-up is recommended.

During the waiting period, I had a fever, vomiting, chills, night sweats, headaches, weight loss and gain(mostly) but I did not associate these symptoms with the cyst. Should I tell the doctor of those other symptoms or should I just see a specialist? Plus the cyst was very large before it ruptured and now it is very small and the pain is increasing and in other areas.
The cyst was discovered while trying to determine the cause of abdominal pain that turned out to be a ruptured cyst on the right ovary. After reading a lot on the internet, it seems that removing it more common than watching and waiting, but I cannot find any discussion about removing the ovary in a perimenopausal woman. I understand that my right ovary would continue to function, but wonder if there is an underlying risk of which I am not aware.
