Switching from nuvaring to the pill

Common Questions and Answers about Switching from nuvaring to the pill

nuvaring

Avatar f tn I looked at the package insert for both my old pill and new pill, and they both said that when switching pills, to take the 21 active pills, and the 7 inactive placebos and then to resume the new pack on your normal date and time which is exactly what I did. Since it does NOT say backup is required when switching if you follow that method, does that mean I am still fully protected and do not require backup? I've been on BC for almost a year by the way.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing pain to the left side of my chest that seems to penetrate through my back. The pain is not real severe, but I know that it is there. I do not seem to have any trouble breathing, & it doesn't hurt to breathe. Could a person have such serious side effects in just a weeks time? Could this be something else going on? How do I tell? If I need to discontinue the ring, then what are my options?
Avatar n tn For long term options, implanon, IUDs and the shot are all good methods. Short term, the various forms of pill or the nuvaring. Tri-cyclen is a good standard and should certainly perform reasonably well. Consult your doctor for further information.
Avatar f tn So, i'm thinking of switching my birth control. i was on the pill, but sometimes i forgot to take it and i don't take it at the same time always. i was reading up on depo provera...i've heard some great things & then i have heard some complete horror stories! can anyone on this pill tell me about their experiences please? i have read you don't get your period anymore, tons of weight gain, hair loss, increase your risk of getting breast cancer...i mean is all of this true.
Avatar f tn I ask because Im on Nuvaring and was directed to put it in the Sunday AFTER the first day of my period. Then leave it in for 3 weeks and take it out on Sunday and leave it out until the following Sunday.
7535508 tn?1391720305 Ive been readin online and it says to effectivly switch from implant to nuvaring it needs to be in for 7 days before implant removal. So question is do you think its a high possibility that I might be pregnant? I take the ring out this sat so I want to wait a few days after that to test. I just feel misserable!
Avatar f tn s no removing it to try to keep the side effects from continuing if you are unlucky and experience them. There is the implant, which gets implanted under your skin and diffuses the hormones to you all the time. Then, there's the patch, which you put on your skin (I'm not entirely certain if it's daily, weekly, or what, but your doctor would tell you.) so it diffuses the hormones as well.
Avatar n tn I change from the pill to Nuvaring 3 months ago and this time my period came 9 days before the date even before I had to remove my ring, could I be pregnant?
1027094 tn?1327429732 I am wondering the same thing as you. I switched from nexplanon to the nuvaring and for the first 7 days had unprotected sex. I didn't know any of this till I researched more. Took it out Thursday and today is Sunday and no period. Have pregnancy symptoms but gonna wait to take a test a little bit more. Could I be pregnant?
Avatar f tn Theres always a possibility of being pregnant when having unprotected sex, even if you're on birth control. You're supposed to start Nuvaring during the first 5 days of your period for it to be effective immediately otherwise you aren't protected for around 7 days. The best thing to do is not stress and get a test done.
Avatar f tn I'm thinking of switching to hormonal IUD (beforehand I was using NuvaRing), but I felt it wasn't effective enough in protecting me from unwanted pregnancy. However my ob/gyn told me my uterus is backwards which sometimes causes painful intercourse (but it doesn't happen that often). So I'm wondering if that would interfer with having an IUD. Thank you for your answers.
Avatar n tn I'm thinking of switching from the pill form of birth control to a different one but unsure which one to choose. And Tips?
Avatar n tn Honestly I think your body is thoroughly confused from all the switching of birth control methods. Once your body has time to readjust to regulating the hormone production without the synthetic hormones the lactation may cease. It could take several months for your body to fully readjust.
Avatar f tn I am 3 days late now and kinda nervous! This also happened when I tried the pill. The only thing I changed from the pill because it made me sick and completey changed my period. I am hoping it will come soon like what happened with the pill..
Avatar n tn About a year ago, I switched to Nuvaring from the pill. When I started dating my boyfriend, whom I am still dating today, I was on the pill. I switched to the Nuvaring because I thought that it was a more reliable option for me because I would always forget to take the pill. About 5 months after starting to use Nuvaring, things began to change between us. We still love each other very much but he gets a weird feeling like he isn't supposed to be with me.
7600327 tn?1393358885 I was on the pill and took it at the same time everyday and went to the doctors about having a really bad headache and needing a wee a lot and test for a uti but found I was pregnant instead was very unexpected and have got my first scan next week
Avatar f tn I was instructed by my doctor to start taking the pill the first day of my period. Two days before my expected period I had some bleeding and I thought it was my period so I took the first pill. A few hours later I realized that I had not gotten my period but must have just spotted. I continued to take the pills regularly, I have taken five so far. (My doctor said that it would be ok to continue to take them). My question is, how does this affect my cycle? Should I expect some bleeding?
Avatar f tn These symptoms being experienced by you can be due to hormonal fluctuations or side effects of the new pill. It may take 2-3 months for your body to adjust to the new pill. If the symptoms are severe and persistent it is suggested to contact your gynecologist and get evaluated. Your doctor may suggest an alternative drug if needed. Hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
468832 tn?1324348961 i did gain some weight but i have lost it all again now.. but i'm thinking you maybe right... thing about other borth control is that i get very nauseated from pills and the patch doesn't stick well to my skin..... i'm thinking i should probably try getting the nuva ring or something for a while to give my body a break from the shot i guess..... not looking forward to it having regular periods again but if it helps then i guess its my only option.
Avatar f tn so sore that a touch makes me cringe and back away immediately. After removing the Nuvaring, I got my period from July 29th-Aug 1 so I am due to get it again in about a week. I would think that maybe the nipple soreness is associated with my oncoming period but NEVER ONCE have my boobs been affected by my menstrual cycle. On top of the nipple soreness, I am constantly tired. Even if I sleep all night, I have trouble waking up and want to take a nap within hours of being awake.
801413 tn?1333539276 How long did it take, what method were you using? Estimate from the time the contraception was no longer "effective" (24 hours after the pill, 13 weeks after depo provera, immediately after IUD removal, immediately after stopping condom use) Long-term methods for this poll would include the hormonal IUD, Depo Provera (the shot), and Implanon or other birth control implants.
Avatar f tn I was on the NuvaRing for 3 months straight and used it to skip my cycle. After the 3rd or 4th week I would take it out & put in a new ring. While doing this I still bled either light or really heavy. I stopped using the NuvaRing the week before Thanksgiving. My husband & I started trying to make a baby soon after taking the ring out. I have not had a cycle since i’ve taken the NuvaRing out and it’s going on a month now.
Avatar n tn Now that it has been 10 days, is it too late to try to taper the zoloft, should i go to 25 for a time first? If I am coming to the end of this icky feeling I would wait it out but I don't know how long to expect to feel this way. Any advice?
Avatar m tn I was on the pill for a while and the same thing happened. What wound up working for you?
