Avatar m tn Studies and case reports on liver injury specifically because of DSs published between 1990 and 2010 were searched in the PubMed and EMBASE data bases using the terms ‘dietary/nutritional supplements’, ‘adverse hepatic reactions’, ‘liver injury’; ‘hepatitis’, ‘liver failure’, ‘vitamin A’ and ‘retinoids’, and reviewed for yet unidentified publications.
535822 tn?1443976780 In complement to vitamins B complex you should consider Spirulina, black Cohosh and siberian ginseng ( if you really want the best thing on the market that contains not only spirulina but many other superfoods go for Green+ powder or SuperFood RX, I do take Green+ and the results are amazing and 3 tea spoon is basically like taking 6 green salad portions. Black Cohosh will help to balance your estrogen level. Physical activity is highly recommended to balance your homones.
Avatar f tn Wouldn't personally take Centrum -- all non-health food vitamins use non-absorbable forms of nutrients and use toxic artificial colors and fillers and binders. The company bought Solgar, which was once one of the best vitamin companies, and destroyed it because of their ignorance. So I'd stay away from the drug stores if you're looking for absorbable vitamins and minerals.
Avatar m tn m not a doctor and you should consult your doctor prior taking any non-essential supplements since you are on medication. Vitamins and superfoods supplements are safe tho and they have no interactions.
Avatar f tn org I translated this data into my methylation Profile and discovered that I have multiple mutations that affect my methylation and ability to use certain supplements, methylfolate being a huge issue (mine is low). Apparently these mutations are very common and most people have some degree of methylation impairment. Here's a sample article on methylation. http://www.gapeysgrub.com/2013/03/methylation-mthfr-cbs-genetics.
1053987 tn?1279304510 I'm very fortunate to have a great team of doctor's who work with me. I have a psychiatrist and a regular doctor who have helped me immensely to get stable after my dx of BPII. I suffer mostly from depression, my mania is very mild, resulting in a good mood or two! Anyway my doctor did some blood work and found I was very low on vitamin D2. You get vitamin D from the sun, and I live in the Pacific NW where it is cloudy for 8 months of the year.
Avatar f tn I'm 48 and getting back into weight lifting. What supplements are best for me? GNP have great stuff!
Avatar m tn I am looking for somewhere to get some nutritional advise about good things to eat when you CLL. My mum is about to do her second course of chemo and is back on the old steroids.
Avatar n tn Hi, I don't really know the answer but if you are getting reduced white-blood-cell counts, then I'd especially want to avoid any food with possible bacteria. Maybe Mocha can say more. Also, since a few patients get heart damage, I'd look into possibly using melatonin and Co-Q10 (OTC supplements) to try and prevent that. I'm not a big fan of alternative treatments for cancer, but I think that a few things do have value.
458072 tn?1291415186 The results speak for themselvesThe drug industry is constantly trying to convince you that drugs are good for your health while nutritional supplements and healthy foods are somehow bad for you. This same line of nonsense is also repeated by the FDA, which goes out of its way to censor the truth about the healing properties of natural foods like walnuts, cherries and berries. Avatar n tn Some specialists recommend a special vitamin supplement for retinitis pigmentosa but there is no definitive benefit. Protective sunglasses and proper diet and nutritional supplements could possibly have some effect in slowing down the degeneration - but cannot stop the degeneration or cure the disease. [Patients should see an eye surgeon specializing in retinal diseases.] MJK MD I wish you the best. My nephew has RP.
Avatar m tn A recent review looked at 45 years of research on the protective effect of prenatal vitamin supplementation on the frequency of childhood cancer. It concluded that "maternal ingestion of prenatal multivitamins is associated with a decreased risk for pediatric brain tumors, neuroblastoma, and leukemia."(3) Vitamin supplements reduced the chance of a brain tumor by 27 percent. Vitamins lowered children's leukemia risk by 39 percent. Risk of neuroblastoma was cut in half.
Avatar n tn "I'm sure the doctor would not have prescribed Plavix if it would interfere with her diabetes." It is always in the best interest of the patient to question a Pharmacist about his/her drug interactions. The patient should always ask for a 'consultation' prior to or after having an Rx filled. Doctors do make mistakes, the Pharmacist may call the doctor if he/she feels something is amiss and/or has questions about the Rx.
667016 tn?1238891904 I had another appointment with my new thyroid GP today to review more test results - & found out that I've got a T4 conversion problem, most probably caused by vitamin/mineral imbalances. Dr thinks I've had this atleast since my TT in Jan 07 as my levels had jumped around alot & I've never felt good on synthetic T4, even at 200mcg.
Avatar f tn I entered a couple of items of food in the food diary without adding all the nutritional facts. I can't figure out how to either edit the nutritional information or delete the food item and re-enter it.
681148 tn?1437661591 He said that I should take the Neurontin either two hours BEFORE I take my nutritional supplements or two hours AFTER I take my nutritional supplements. He said that this is because nutritional supplements can make the Neurontin less effective. Since so many of us are also taking nutritional supplements, I thought this information should be shared with everyone.
1237757 tn?1323143119 Yeah doing all of the above, I wouldn't be considering this at all apart from the experience I have had with this doctor already. Fully qualified medical GP who specialises in natural therapy and sports nutrition. The major sports teams here in Australia use them. Am also keeping my mood tracker up to date, already a bit irritable but I think that is more about the crap I'm having to deal with at work rather than the supplements.
Avatar n tn Ensure claims to contain nutritional ingredients which aid a person’s normal diet, but the ingredients contained are mostly synthetic or chemical substances with little proven benefits for dieters. The actual nutrients — namely, Vitamin A and Vitamin D3 — are also listed in the lower half on the ingredient list, indicating it is used in smaller doses in comparison to the rest of the ingredients.
Avatar f tn His case is mild, hardly noticeable, and is intermittent. Are there nutritional supplements I can add to his diet to help ( ie. lutein, dha, vitamins?
Avatar m tn There is no reason to suppose that inosine or the sort of nutritional supplements you take could have any effect -- and even if they did, it could affect only the antibody tests, not the PCR result." My question: Forgive my ignorance but does this mean that taking nutritional supplements can INDEED affect the hiv antibody test result? The reason I ask is I do take vitamins, food and nutritional supplements and I had 4 antibody tests the latest was 18 months after exposure.
928257 tn?1296673492 I'm 45 yrs old and for the past month, I've been taking the following supplements all at once, first thing in the morning: Schiff Omega 3 Krill Oil Softgel Lecithin softgel 400mg Super B Complex caplet Aspirin 81mg tab Claritin-D 24 Hr tab Today I added a Women's One a Day to my daily supplements. 1141699 tn?1261501160 ve been taking vitamin supplements to try and ease the depression. It kind of works, but in reality, I think I need to get back to my doctor and get back on Cymbalta or something like it. I had reached a point with the Cymbalta where it didn't seem as though it was really making a difference. In the meantime, I continue to have daily episodes of extreme sadness. Today I had to fight hard not to burts into tears.
