Avatar n tn It sounds like a Lymph node especially as he has had an infection, if you are concerned about it and its getting larger it may be a good idea to have it checked out ...
Avatar f tn I had a very painful neck swollen lymph node and had blood test and ultrasound and he said it might take a very long time to heal. That week I checked my herb bible encyclopedia and my specialist herbalist and took the "Now" brand Echinacea Root plus Goldenseal Root herb, 225/225 mg blended and the "Now" brand her Ginger Root, 550 mg for blood from: acidic to: alkaline, and my gland was better in 2 days and has stayed gone for 3 weeks.
Avatar n tn You DON"T self inspect your lymph nodes. Swollen lymph nodes need to be assessed and diagnosed by a health care professional ONLY. Lymph nodes in their normal state are commonly palpable......which is why only a health care professional can determine if they are swollen.
20828489 tn?1526142384 I found this info online from Dr Dezube (Harvard Medical School)... "Health care professionals, including myself, use the word "reactive" frequently. A "reactive" lymph node is one which is enlarged because it is trying to fight off an infection. The truth is that the only way for one to really know if a lymph node is reactive (enlarging as it's fighting off an infection) or malignant is to biopsy the lymph node.
Avatar f tn We can have a swollen or reactive lymph node for quite some time after our body has fought off an infection. So, your lymph node in your collarbone could be just that. If you have, were or are fighting off an infection of the throat, for example, that is a common place to have a swollen lymph node. I would not assume cancer especially with the way you describe your lymph node. Has it been there consistently for more than two weeks?
Avatar f tn And if we have been sick, the lymph node that has enlarged can last for a fairly long time. People can have a reactive lymph node after a vaccination. Some medications, while rare, can cause a lymph node to swell. And the obvious fear of things like cancer causing this. Remember, that for most people this is absolutely not the case but a thorough medical exam should be done. https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar f tn I had a panic attack last night because I think there's a lymph node swollen behind my ear like right under it tucked behind my jaw. I'm freaking out. I keep checking it and it's still there. And last night when I felt it I had this feeling that this was it. This is the one time I'm gonna have cancer. And then I just freaked out.
Avatar n tn I would be willing to bet a large sum of money that the swollen lymph node that you have noticed has nothing whatsoever to do with HIV infection. As you note, your risk is very, very low. In addition, the lymphadenopathy associated with HIV infection is typically diffuse, involving lymph nodes in many parts of the body. On the other hand, an axillary lymph node of the sort you note deals with inflammation from the arm and the chest wall and back on the side of the node.
Avatar m tn He gave me a topical antibiotic for the ingrown which is helping the ingrown, but the lymph node is still swollen and i can totally see it popping out when i turn my head in a certain direction. Aanyway, the dermatologist told me not to worry and to come back in 2 months and if its still there he will send me to an ENT and get a biopsy. That really scared the **** out me.
Avatar n tn WANTED TO TAKE BOTH BREAST AND I LET THEM, BUT THEY WANTED TO TAKE MY LYMPH NODES AND NOTHING WAS THEIR AT THE TIME., NOW THE CATSCAN SHOW CALCIFIED LYMPH NODE IS SEEN WITHIN THE LEFT UPPER LOBE.. SHOULD I BE WORRIED ? AND GO THROUGH ANOTHER PAINFULL SURGERY, I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND, THEY TELL ME ITS STAGE 4 THEN THEY TELL ME IM OK CAN SOMEONE ( PLEASE GIVE ME A LITTLE SUPPORT ) THANKS TO ALL THE HELP WE GIVE TO EACH OTHER..
Avatar f tn I posted the question about having a swollen lymph node that is sore under my right jaw bone but I also have been feeling very fatigued and having widespread pain in my back, shoulders, neck, hips with numbness in my right arm, hand and fingers. I am also having a "stabbing" sensation in the right side of my heads that occurs about 3-4 inches above my right ear. It only occurs once in a while but makes me a little woosy for a few seconds when it occurs.
Avatar n tn 2 month later I developed a single enralge lymph node under my chin. the biopsy tst showed its a reactive lymoh node with follicular hyperplasia. then later the 2 nodes next to it start to swollen to a size of 1.5 cm. I did 5 hiv tests at 4, 5.5 7, 9th and 12.2 months after exposure. all came back negative. all tests are elisa, and my last one was HIV 1&2 ANTIBODIES, P 24 ANTIGEN COMBO TEST.
Avatar m tn I guess I wanted to know if that could be the cause of the shotty lymph node? I have no other lymph node in that axilla or on the other side and have no other symptoms other than chronic sinusitis.
Avatar m tn Do you think perhaps you have an anxiety problem? I'm asking because if you are spending 'hours and hours' checking your neck for a lymph node, that's indicative of that. That's not really how health works. Searching and searching for a swollen lymph node you aren't feeling and then asking 'what' it would feel like makes me think you have some health anxiety. Lymph nodes, simply put, feel like a bump or pea under your skin.
Avatar n tn Dr Noopur, Thank you for the reply. Would one lymph node enlarge from lung cancer like that, without others enlarging? I am sorry to ask silly questions, however, I do not currently have medical insurance, i am a self-employed contractor, so going to the doctor could get expensive if it is something minor. How long would a lymph node remain swollen if it is something other than cancer or another serious ailment? My headaches and neck pain have increased considerably lately...
Avatar f tn I have a question for Teak...its regarding something he said in a post. Heres the link: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/HIV-Prevention/TO-TEAK-/show/20964?personal_page_id=85618#post_77007 He says that lymph node swelling will NOT be generalized. I'm confused...I thought they were generalized. Is he saying that they are not generalized in chronic HIV infection? Or was this a typo? so is lymph node swelling at 5 weeks usually localized? Please help!!!!!
Avatar n tn There is no possible way that anyone can diagnose him accurately for anything over the internet with just swollen lymph nodes as the only symptom.
Avatar m tn On ultrasound was this a thyroid nodule or a lymph node? Do you have Hashimoto's thyroiditis (more common in T1DM)? Would review US endocrinologist to address these issues and consider having slides sent for another opinion. Also ask if testing for lymphoma (rare) is necessary). But 3.5cm is fairly large (however you mention 0.9cm as one dimension -- so this is almost like a "string bean" which may be a lymph node that is normal/reactive).
7748835 tn?1393868668 s about the size of a nickel, and quite hard. That lymph node has been present for months now. A couple months ago I noticed another lymph node right beside it with the same hardness, and just a tad smaller. I then noticed some squishy, dime sized lymph nodes in my pelvic area. I then noticed another hard, dime sized lymph node on the opposite side of my neck, and one I believe on the side of my breast.
Avatar m tn Does this sound like a normal process of healing for a lymph node? Has anybody else had an experience like this? I had a physical last month and my doc was not concerned at all, but I am still somewhat skeptical as the soreness persists.
Avatar f tn I think you have to get checked by a doctor as you have swollen lymph node for seven years already. The other health issues you have might be connected with each other - an EENT would be best.
Avatar f tn Except for the lymph node involved by direct extension, the lymph node metastases are predominately subcapsular and occupy less than 50% of the volume of the node. We do not have a good understanding of what this means. We understand that the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes but are wondering what implication the note has to it. We have now been told that my father will need to undergo chemotherapy but not radiation.
Avatar m tn This was swelling of a local lymph node. I had fever and night sweats. I was put on an aggressive schedule of antibiotics. The swelling went away in a few days and the fever after 2 days. I am back to normal now but have some tingling feelings in other lymph node areas - armits, groin, neck. nothing has swollen. it just intermittently tingles onece in a while. otherwise my health is perfect. Could this be an outbreak gone bad?
Avatar n tn No, I'm not positive it is a lymph node. Also, my boyfrend is a student nurse and he said it felt normal but I'm still a little worried.
Avatar n tn The red spot on the ultrasound would have measured blood flow in that area and this red means that this can be a vascular lymph node or may signify the presence of a hemangioma. Infections may also cause swelling and increase blood flow in the are causing this finding. I would presume that the doctor may request a biopsy of these lymph nodes just to make sure that this is not cancerous in nature.
