I have been on both strattera and adderall. Adderall is very addicting to this (me) addict. The strattera didnt give the buzz adderall did. ALSO many people have reported adderall increased depression. I hope this helps. Congrats on getting off the opiates. YOUR AWESOME !!

My daughter is nearly 11 years old and has been taking Concerta (now on 36mg) since March. The doctor recommended a switch to Strattera for the reason that it works 24 hours (Concerta is effective for only 12 hours) and will help my daughter concentrate more. I have no idea whether Strattera is a better alternative, can anyone tell me if this is true?

My 9 yr old daughter has anxiety. It has gotten so bad this school year that she is missing school. The majority of her anxiety revolves around the fear of throwing up. It is almost every day at school lunch. She starts feeling nauseas as soon as she wakes up in the morning because she is worried about lunch. t play well together) I added the strattera under my pdocs supervision. I had to stop taking the strattera because it gave me the hot flashes.I stopped Strattera in Feb of 07. In November of 2008, I tapered off Prozac. I was ok for about 9 months. Then, in August of 09, I started having anxiety issues.. Not really mental anxiety, but physical anxiety.. My insides felt like they were running on overdrive, kind of like an engine at high idle.

We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.

Everyone is different. My son is 12 years old and has adhd odd and mood disorder. He has been on multiple meds. The stimulates seem to be the most recommended for the adhd problems but can sometimes cause weight loss and aggression. Zoloft is for depression. I don't believe any of these meds help with the odd part of it. Because the child has control over this they are choosing to act that way for a reason. Weather it be for attention or just to drive ya mad.

I have aspergers and zoloft helps me deal with my environment. I can handle noises, changes, and people in general much better now, I do not get angry or phobic so soon any more. So i guess my environment thinks this has improved my behaviour ; ) Just watch it: zoloft has to be started and stopped very carefully,with the help of a physician !

Hepatotoxicity is possible, though of course not probable, with Strattera, and lab work would be ordered before starting it and during tretament with it. In the 3+ years between January of 2005 and April of 2008, a number (6) of caes of liver illness were reported to the FDA. I would suggest talking with the prescribing clinician and reviewing the options. There are alternatives in addition to Strattera.

I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy. A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.

My son has ODD without ADHD, he has been taking a very small dossage of Topamax for over a year ( has help him loose and control his oerweight problems, but has not really help with his oposition or horrible mood swings) and now the Dr. recomendned Strattera, I´m very concern with the side efects. My 8 hr old grandson was the same way. He was taking 25 mg of Strattera. He was getting VERY whiney and tempermental. He is now on Vaynesse. He is more in control during the day. His whining has calmed down alot. The only problem is at night like after 6pm he gets whiney and tempermental again. He doesn't want to go to bed very good, which some of it is probably him. The Adderal XR was effective at combating my ADHD symptoms but made my anxiety worse, so my doctor prescribed Strattera. I found the Strattera to be not nearly as effective as Adderal XR, so without consulting my doctor, I began taking both medications together. This is working extraordinarily well. The Strattera seems to ease my anxiety while slightly reducing ADHD symptoms and the Adderal XR nearly eliminates the remaining ADHD symptoms.

To make a long story short- I had been on wellbutrin, zoloft and strattera for like 25 years before deciding in may to go off cold TURKEY. Bad decision. And in August I had a panic attack out of the blue and that's when I got back on the 3 medications. Unfortunately, it has been one side effect after another since increasing wellbutrin and zoloft dosage. First, brain fog. Then vision problems. Then derealization. Talk about a cascade of garbage!

2-3 years later I started voicing my problems again with anxiety and I was put on Zoloft (college). After several months, Zoloft was still not working and was stopped. My doctor suggested going back on Paxil (post-college). So I started Paxil again, however, the Paxil had no effect this time around (I guess I used my one and only "get out of jail free" card!!). I pretty much gave up getting help after the Paxil didn't work. That was 2 years ago. It's very frustrating.

I have tried Prozac, effexor, zoloft, and wellbutrin that I recall. I have not had much luck with any of them. I have tried vyvanse for my ADD and I would hyperfocus on it and when it wore off late afternoon to early evening I would get super depressed. It helped my Social Anxiety ironically. I also tried Strattera for a week but due to my wariness with antidepressants didn't give it a chance. I was thinking about trying wellbutrin or strattera again...Thoughts? Suggestions?

first off i will say i have been on suboxone for about a year and a half after having a 6 year relationship with pain killers and have successfully been tapering off the past 6 months or so down to .5mg daily and now off completely. now with that said i have been trying to get treatment for my add and feel like my treatment options are based around my past addiction.
