strattera therapeutic dose

t been on medicine for it since college. Starts out with my former medicine, strattera, but when I would take it I felt my heart was out of control and my blood pressure went up. Now on wellbutrin for about a week but I feel foggy and it is causing worse ibs. Not sure if that side effect will go away but giving it a try. My question is, if anyone can answer, why was I able to take strattera as a child with 0 side effects and then high heart rate etc now.

Hi! I was diagnosed with ADD recently and I'm waiting to get back in to see my psychiatrist. My last office visit we spoke about the possible medications I could choose from if I completed ADD testing with another Psych. He mentioned Strattera (but he said he didn't feel that it worked), Adderall, and Ritalin. I'm currently on abilify and wellbutrin for depression and these meds, along with adderall and ritalin lower the seizure threshold.

NOW, the second time around on Strattera, we are not having the same luck with it, at least on the old dose. I am hoping that the increased dose of both meds does the trick. I am just not having any luck finding anyone else who has dealt with this.

My daughter is nearly 11 years old and has been taking Concerta (now on 36mg) since March. The doctor recommended a switch to Strattera for the reason that it works 24 hours (Concerta is effective for only 12 hours) and will help my daughter concentrate more. I have no idea whether Strattera is a better alternative, can anyone tell me if this is true?

I went to another doctor and asked for adderall (since the first doctor would not prescribe anything else but strattera). It works a lot better. I take the minimal dose and find it works better than strattera. I usually take a 5mg in the morning and another 5mg around 1pm. I don't believe there is anything that is perfect though, but it definitely takes the edge off if you know what I mean.

I was wondering what the therapeutic dose generally is to treat bipolar 2? I have been going to my family dr and am on 100 mg of lamictal and 300 mg well Orrin. However I am still very depressed and wondering if this is the right dose?

Did you ever try a lower dose? 20mgs is a fairly big dose to start with. I was surprised that your doc started you off that high.

When i was about 5 or 7 years old thats when my doctor told my mom i have ADHD. My doctor gave me to take Vyvanse and Strattera. The Vyvanse i take is 60mg capsules and for Strattera i take 60mg capsules to. I had problems over the years. I get distracted very easily but i try not to look or be distracted but its hard sometimes. especially when people are talking, making noise and being annoying is distracting me. There are other stuff i turn my attention to though.

50mg of seroquil I assume is at bed time, because that is a low dose. I take 125 @bed time.Back to the lamictal 25mg. is usuall a intro dose .900 mg of lithium is on the low side but acceptable I use to take 900 up to 1200. I have been on both strattera and adderall. Adderall is very addicting to this (me) addict. The strattera didnt give the buzz adderall did. ALSO many people have reported adderall increased depression. I hope this helps. Congrats on getting off the opiates. YOUR AWESOME !!

The pediatrician started her off with 18mg Strattera. The results were immediate and amazing. For the first time ever she would sit and do her homework (alone) without getting constantly distracted. Yes it will take a while for the Seroquel to build up to an effective dose as i was just started. Also Strattera can as an adverse side effect sometimes increase or cause aggression so although you should leave the dose of all medications in place it would be essential to discuss this with the doctor or psychiatrist who is prescribing the medications. At one time I was on 400 for my therapeutic dose and also had a prescription for 25 mg which I would take with me when I left the house in case a panic attack kicked in. 100mg does seem to be the magic number for some reason??? If I took the 25mg or 50mg before an attack actually hit, I would get pulled down. To me it seems like it is an intense depressant. 50 mg is just enough to let you stay awake and feel the depression.

Just wondering if anyone out there has had such a large cocktail to remain stable and if anyone knows if adding a lower dose of strattera and a small dose of cymbalta to the mix would cause trouble. I admit I have been taking the 40 mg of strattera every other day even though pdoc switched me to vyvanse. Am taking that as well but just makes me a little moody when it wears off. (as did adderall).
