Strattera not working

Common Questions and Answers about Strattera not working

strattera

Avatar n tn s addicting, I want to live out my life focused and able to work, not dizzy and constipated on the streets where Strattera will lead me I am afraid. Some people are different than others. Why is he limiting me to Stratterra? Is it because of my age? I hate to say this but I have sought out street drugs before to help this condition and I know the dangers of doing rat poison.
Avatar f tn ve worked for in that time. And be miserable without working out. Would taking a klonopin with the strattera in the am help eleviate those symptoms? My pharamist thinks my blood pressure is getting to high. Would a klonopin combat that so I can at least perform at 100%?
Avatar m tn He has been on intuniv for a couple of months. It was not working.. So the DR. gave the strattera also... He takes both at the same time in the morning.Hs the DR. suggested... Did not know if anyone else had been on both and how well it worked...
Avatar n tn i've been on stelazine for about a year now along with the rest of the meds i started strattera about last month...
Avatar m tn ve been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy. A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.
Avatar n tn I found the Strattera to be not nearly as effective as Adderal XR, so without consulting my doctor, I began taking both medications together. This is working extraordinarily well. The Strattera seems to ease my anxiety while slightly reducing ADHD symptoms and the Adderal XR nearly eliminates the remaining ADHD symptoms. Is it safe to take Adderal XR and Strattera at the same time? I only have a two week supply of Strattera remaining and I'm very much dreading going back to my old self.
Avatar f tn Strattera is a non stimulant med used for ADHD. Whether or not it would be effective for you, I don't know. This site lists almost all possible treatment options. Although for some reason, I couldn't find Strattera listed, so you need to google that. The site is http://www.healing-arts.org/children/ADHD/medications.htm And the following site also lists (with info) non stimulant meds (they do mention strattera). http://www.baltimorepsych.com/NonStimulants.
Avatar n tn I went to another doctor and asked for adderall (since the first doctor would not prescribe anything else but strattera). It works a lot better. I take the minimal dose and find it works better than strattera. I usually take a 5mg in the morning and another 5mg around 1pm. I don't believe there is anything that is perfect though, but it definitely takes the edge off if you know what I mean.
Avatar n tn I've been on strattera for two weeks and the only strong side effect I seem to have is that I get really tired or fatigued around 2:00pm. Will this side effect subside over time? Is there anyway to lessen it? I've tried other ADD medications however because they are stimulants I tend to get really agitated or even a little paranoid when I'm on them so I am hoping that Strattera works out ok. Are there any other non-stimulant ADD medications?
Avatar f tn I have been diagnose with major depressive disorder generalized anxiety and adhd when i was 17 or 18 had a nervous breakdown they put me on 150mg zoloft 60mg strattera and 3mg xanax did fine then about 3 years ago stopped driving at this time i wasnt taking the strattera or xanax just the fear of driving bc i had 2 major panick attacks while by myself fast forward 3 years going through a divorce and the depression and crazy thoughts came on bad well before the divorce was trying to get off the z
Avatar m tn (1) The Strattera success rate is not as high as stimulants to control ADHD (2) When there is a side effect with Strattera the risk is much higher of how serious the side effect will be due to the fact that this med impacts the liver and also the lawsuits seem to be much more serious than the lawsuits for stimulants. My husband decided that we should not change to Strattera.
Avatar n tn Not being familiar with the properties of Strattera what does it do . .is it a muscle relaxer as it works for his ADD condition? Just curious as i really don't have an answer but trying to figure it out with you .. there are some other great people here who may have ideas and even some products outside of Prevacid are mentioned in the archives worth looking into perhaps. Could it be the combo of the two meds are causing the reflux ?
Avatar m tn My doc is 87 years old, he didn't even know what strattera was before I researched it. He told me I never heard of that. He wanted to start me on 100 mg of strattera but I told him 40mg to start was better. He seemed like he didn't know what the heck he was doing. Many times the patient knows more than the doctor.
Avatar f tn I certainly don't doubt that it happened to your child. Its just that ADHD is a hugely stressful condition. And stress flows with the over-all environment around the child. Strattera may well have been the cause, but I would not be surprised if the Raynaulds returns while he is not on Strattera. Hopefully it won't!. I would still read the book I recommended. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn Does strattera give any false positive reading for a urine or hair follicle test? Would it come up as a amphetamine or methamphetamine, or any other illegal substance?
Avatar f tn Most people in clinical studies who experienced side effects were not bothered enough to stop using Strattera. Strattera has not been tested in children under 6 years of age or in geriatric adults.
Avatar m tn //www.rxlist.com/strattera-side-effects-drug-center.htm So its possible its the Wellbutrin that is the problem. But be careful, this is a med that you want to read the info on stopping it. Don't do it all at once. Actually, do talk to your doc. about this. Hope this helps. Hope things are going ok for you. I remember you from much earlier this summer.
209987 tn?1451935465 Not sure what the pills I tried last time were called. It was over 12 years ago if that helps. As for the anxiety pills I've been on a long list...effexor, paxil, xanax, ativan ( which I call the demon pill...it's the one that kept me in hospital having one panic attack after another). I've just looked up this Strattera...I figure if they won't give me champix to help quit smoking then they probably won't give me the Strattera either...Why?
Avatar f tn I am not a fan of medicating my daughter. I was wondering can ADD be treated using natural remedies? If so can you give me some suggestions? I have been reading alot on the internet and I don't want to waste my money on something that will not work.
Avatar n tn Hi, I've been on strattera for 6 days now and when I take it in the morning, about 2-3 hours after taking it I get pretty intense anxiety (heart beats fast, chest feels heavy, my whole body gets tense, my breathing feels shallow) I'd say this anxiety fully subsides in around an hour. It's the same reaction I've had to stimulants, which is why I'm trying strattera. My doctor gave me 0.25mg of xanax for this reaction and it takes it away COMPLETELY.
Avatar f tn According to the web, Strattera carries with it a "black box warning" - the most serious warning a prescription med can carry and still be on the market - that strattera has been linked to suicidal thoughts in children. I agree with Margy - I would call that doing terribly on strattera. I'm not quite sure what behaviors strattera has helped with, but a child with new suicide thoughts are about the worst thing I can think of.
Avatar n tn I have been on Pristiq 100mg for 3 months, Wellbutrin 150mg for 5 weeks and we added Strattera 40mg. Pristiq for PMDD, Wellbutrin for motivation and Strattera for focus. Separately they help each thing only. So was wondering if anyone else is on a combo like this and it’s helped. And how long. I seem to be anxious more lately before adding Strattera....hoping this helps it. No libido what so ever.
Avatar m tn Hi, my husband has adult ADHD and his doctor put him in strattera. It is working for his ADHD but it has loads of side effects (and he cannot take any of the stimulant type meds). We are not sure what to do about the semen leakage. He, understandably, is embarrassed about this and has started to wear diapers to work to protect his clothes. Is this the best option? Anyone has suggestions.
Avatar m tn or ? If you google strattera you can see that it does not immediately effect you like a stimulant medication will. So its possible that this is what is going on and you need to give it some more time. At any rate, you should always remain in good communication with your doctor. He needs to know what is going on. Also, he should be experienced with his patients using strattera, so should be able to tell you, what to expect. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have adhd/anxiety/ibs-d. I was on librax for two years and did not know it had librium. My fault for not researching the medicine. After I realize that I am developing a tolerance I stop taking it and try something else. My GP thinks my ibs is because of my adhd\anxiety but I haven't been on medicine for it since college. Starts out with my former medicine, strattera, but when I would take it I felt my heart was out of control and my blood pressure went up.
Avatar n tn It makes me super sleepy so I take it at night and the next day I feel fine and not a stimulant so no high feeling. But It will make you very sleepy do not know why they say take it in the morning.
Avatar m tn That's why most of us say "ask your Dr. about......." Strattera is a med to help with concentration. I believe that was the question. [Is there any med to improve concentration?] I did not say buy Strattera on the black market and don't tell your doctor about it. I merely answered the question.
990354 tn?1307132886 I have been on both strattera and adderall. Adderall is very addicting to this (me) addict. The strattera didnt give the buzz adderall did. ALSO many people have reported adderall increased depression. I hope this helps. Congrats on getting off the opiates. YOUR AWESOME !!
