Avatar f tn I'm a 55 Y/O female who has been binge eating for about 20 years. I've been to every kind of therapy, even went to a psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders, gave me an RX ( don't remember the name) I've gained and lost 50LBS 3 times, this time I gained 60LBS and can't loose the last 25. I can't control my eating no matter what I do. I've also been to OA and I didn't like it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Is anyone out there a binge eater that would like to get into contact to help recovery? I've had eating disorders for the past 10 years...anorexia, bulimia, recovered on my own for a bit, but now after starting a career and having more stress in my life, I'm not normal anymore. I binge. I went on topamax for a bit and this helped but didn't like the weird side effects and I know I can't rely on drugs my whole life. I'm 26 and just want to be normal with food.
Avatar f tn Great advice from Brice, but don't forget to occasionally indulge in some of your cravings too, otherwise you can risk setting yourself for that autopilot eating. For instance, if you've got a serious craving for chocolate, do not turn to a rice cakes as an alternative. Has that honestly ever worked for anyone??? For me personally, I'd eat the whole bag of rice cakes and still feel completely unsatisfied. The key (for me at least) is to let myself have a few pieces of dark chocolate.
Avatar f tn I've always suffered from binge eating. 3 months ago I tried Meridia, and it was wonderful. I do not like to take medicines...therefore I stopped taking Meridia, but sometimes I take one for a few days when I believe I'm eating too much....but as soon as i stop taking it, I go back to the same old habits. Do you know of something similar that I can take w/o the same side effects...
1396756 tn?1283523477 Often binge eating is an emotional thing, we find confort in food. You hear people talk about their "comfort foods" these are things they eat when upset or sad. The Paxil IS helping you and this is why you no longer have to eat to feel better....good for you! One thing to help lose the weight is to eat every 3-4 hours, healthy snacks. Fresh fruit, handful of nuts, yogurt, chicken, vegetables, and exercise. Eating every few hours keeps your metabolism at it's peak.
Avatar f tn Binge eating after dinner please help I always do really well then after dinner I blow it and I know ive gotta get rid of this problem to loose the weight I want.
Avatar n tn Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.

Avatar f tn Is anyone familiar with binge eating disorder? I have been struggling with what I believe is binge eating disorder. It has gotten out of control and I am at a loss as to how to stop it. Avatar f tn The best thing to do is not have junk food in the house, if you can't stop with eating a single portion. Replace the chips, cookies, etc with fresh cut up veggies, such as carrots, celery, radishes, broccoli, or cauliflower. You'll get the same crunch, but you'll get nutrition instead of the fat and empty calories. If you need the salt, sprinkle on just a tad of sea salt to add a bit of flavor.
612101 tn?1220772860 I have suffered from binge eating since I was 20 yrs old. I am now 36. For the last 15 yrs I have been on many many anti depressants, diets, diet pills etc. I have had pretty much binge free the last 2 years while I was on Effexor and Wellbutrin. I came into money problems and had to taper off them. I had totally forgot about my eating disoder....well....I think I thought I grew out of it finally. 877379 tn?1259664623 I feel like since my main problem is now binging, that I cant have an eating disorder because binge eating disorder is not ok for me to have. I feel like I would be a failure if I was diagnosed as that. I dont think she will stop eating junk food and food always seems to be around when we hang out. any ideas for any activity we could do that is "food free"? isnt there sugar in almost everything? I would love to be able to just eat a little and then stop.
Avatar n tn What kind of physical consequences are there to binge eating. I had this for years, overeating really fast and way too much. In the recent past I got on a medication and stopped. But now I have bad acid reflux, what feels like a tear in my intestines and an ulcer in my stomach and a gallbladder that is going downhill. I never knew what it meant to be full because I would alot of times eat past that.
8793709 tn?1409594060 N im really concern of gaining excessive weight. I love the fact that my dr always reminds me of eating for one, eating healthy, n having healthy snacks. Avatar f tn I'm a 56 y/o female who has had a problem with binge eating since I was about 30. I can gain 20 lbs in a month no problem. Sometimes I can't stop eating, and when I'm too full to eat anymore, I can't wait to digest so I can eat more. I've been to psychiatrist's that specialize in eating disorders, OA, read every book I could find, went to counseling for years and years, and have been on every diet there is.
6811971 tn?1385557755 I suffered from Anorexia for six years of my life and have been recovered for twelve years now. For me, I experienced some gas and bloating. This can be quite stressful as it makes one feel full and gaining weight. I found that mixing some natural ginger in a tea or water helped. Also, digestion was a little slow for me. To help that along, I used papaya and pineapple. They both contain digestive enzymes called papain and bromelain respectively.

Avatar f tn Help! i keep binge eating on food like chocolate, buiscuits, cake etc... and i cant stop, i need help!
311086 tn?1224728918 I started Strattera after being diagnosted with Adult ADHD (Severe) on the DSM-IV by my Psychologist. My MD (family doctor) has since confirmed it. He put me on 40mg / day (taken at around 11am every day, without food). For the entire first week, I was fine. I didn't really see any improvement, i'm still hyper, find it hard to concentrate, etc. He then told me that on Wednsday (10/1/2008) that I am to upgrade to 60mg per day. I took my dose on 10/1 and then on 10/2.
