strattera

Avatar m tn Not fully true, i failed this morning for amphetamines after starting strattera a week ago and having clean drug tests before today.. After doing some digging i found theses http://www.hindawi.com/journals/crips/2013/381261/ http://www.ehealthme.
Avatar m tn (1) The Strattera success rate is not as high as stimulants to control ADHD (2) When there is a side effect with Strattera the risk is much higher of how serious the side effect will be due to the fact that this med impacts the liver and also the lawsuits seem to be much more serious than the lawsuits for stimulants. My husband decided that we should not change to Strattera.
Avatar n tn i started tapering him off and some most of these have calmed down at a quarter of the dose, strattera is a non stimulant and works like an antidepresant wellbutrin but is for kids too..frontline has a series on the medicated child on www . pbs. org, you should really check this out, it is scary!!! deals with kids being on physc meds...
Avatar f tn Strattera, Adderall XR, Vyvanse, and Daytrana are medications I have taken, my brother takes Concerta. Vyvanse and Adderall XR are the only meds I can take. I have a real sensitive stomach and immune system, and am allergic to a lot so I would think that you can handle most of these.
Avatar n tn It is one of the side effects of Ritalin perhaps you should ask your Doctor for a new evaluation of the Med, if you ever decide to let him be on Natural Remedies, it has been shown in studies that food supplements have the same efficacy as Ritalin and a Muliple Vitamin-mineral with B Complex and Vit C also Fish oil, would be good, a lot of Parents are trying this now and their children and not getting the bad side effects that Ritalin and the other meds have.
Avatar m tn i currently take strattera , which has mild effects at best. however i am thinking about getting ritalin prescribed . i have a very good job where i am routinely drug tested via Urine and Hair. will ritalin casue a fasle positive drug test? half the internet sites say no the other half say yes.
766032 tn?1281641481 The only non-stimulate drug that I know of is Strattera. There are various types of stimulants (time release, etc), but all work on the same principal. Vyvanse works slightly differently (but is still a stimulant) to provent abuse.
396332 tn?1320003615 Are you seeing a doctor or psychiatrist? Since both Cymbalta and strattera target norepinephrine, they could conflict, and could cause more anxiety -- they're both stimulants to a certain extent, though both can also cause sedation, meds being what they are.
Avatar f tn He had a reaction from the stimulants and can not take them. HAs anyone used accupuncture for controlling ADD symptoms?
Avatar f tn I was wondering if that (a sedative) or something else like a beta blocker was ever recommended along with stimulants for those with ADD and mitral valve prolapse? (oh, and another complication--I take Yaz bcp continuosly to keep my terrible endometriosis under control--it's possible that the Yaz is already excaberating my mvp symptoms) Ideas anyone? I really must have some medical help for my debilitating ADD symptoms, but I don't want to worsen my heart/anxiety symtpoms.
702147 tn?1289832370 Many times its due to the AD/HD and how it affects them in school and among friends. Strattera is not as effective as the normal stim meds. It may well be that she is suffering in school and the pressure is beginning to get to her. It might be time to consider a milder stim med like Ritalin - as long as her heart/lung docs agree. Please do keep us posted. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn I've been on strattera for two weeks and the only strong side effect I seem to have is that I get really tired or fatigued around 2:00pm. Will this side effect subside over time? Is there anyway to lessen it? I've tried other ADD medications however because they are stimulants I tend to get really agitated or even a little paranoid when I'm on them so I am hoping that Strattera works out ok. Are there any other non-stimulant ADD medications?
Avatar m tn ask your Dr. about Strattera. It is prescribed for Attention Deficit disorder, but is not a stimulant. It is non-addictive and not a controlled substance. It also has some of the same properties as SSNRI's. Since it affects neurotransmitters it is a very useful drug.
Avatar m tn My son is 11 yr old, has ADHD/ODDand IED and they also say border line asperger syndrom. He started off with strattera, then switch to stimulants ritalin, and vynasse. Stimulants was horrible for him became very violent. He was on strattera and rispedorol and all he did was wake up eat and sleep. The medication was effecting his motor skills, his reaction time was very slow, like his reaction in the game was horrible, and he had alot of twitching and tics...
Avatar f tn I am not a fan of medicating my daughter. I was wondering can ADD be treated using natural remedies? If so can you give me some suggestions? I have been reading alot on the internet and I don't want to waste my money on something that will not work.
990354 tn?1307132886 I have been on both strattera and adderall. Adderall is very addicting to this (me) addict. The strattera didnt give the buzz adderall did. ALSO many people have reported adderall increased depression. I hope this helps. Congrats on getting off the opiates. YOUR AWESOME !!
Avatar m tn Well, Strattera is "Classified as a norepinephrine (noradrenaline) reuptake inhibitor, atomoxetine is approved for use in children, adolescents, and adults. However, its efficacy has not been studied in children under six years old.
Avatar n tn I'm 21 years old and was diagnosed with adult ADHD last year. Stimulants don't seem to work for me, they make me extremely irritable and give me chest pains. Tried strattera but it made me extremely emotional, to the point of sobbing for no reason. My doctor put me on Buspar, 5 mg 2x a day to help with my ADHD...but I have not read any solid literature on Buspar and its effects on ADHD symptoms. Is this a good drug to go on for ADHD? Has anyone else been on this drug for ADHD?
Avatar f tn she told me that if the strattera didn’t work that we can explore the options of stimulants. so i tried the strattera for a week and did not notice any benefits just side effects plus it’s very expensive. i do know strattera needs to build up in your system to take effect but the side effects and price made me feel like there were better options. i called her today and told her this and that i am now off my suboxone. she then decided to write a script for wellbutrin because it’s cheaper?
Avatar f tn I think it might be dangerous to come up with a loose answer here. Many ADD meds are stimulants and as such have an effect on the heart. The other thing is that there are many different kinds of heart surgery done for completely different reasons (malfunctioning heartvalve, inflammation, e.g. endocarditis, arterial blockages, mending a hole in the heart muscle etc.).
Avatar n tn Zolpidem (Ambien), Methylphenidate (Concerta), Clonidine, and Strattera. First, I do not believe my son should have ever been diagnosed w/ ADHD, I have done the research and written a paper as well as currently going through a publication on an article with my wife (not my son's mother) who is an assistant professor of counseling mental health.
687098 tn?1240889420 As I am sure you know, risperdal is an antipsychotic medication. Stimulants and selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (Strattera) are most commonly prescribed to manage symptoms of ADHD. Not every child can tolerate stimulants, but it sounds like you have not tried this course yet.
901608 tn?1242149147 Dear Concerned Momma, There has been a lot of confusing and concerning information in the medical and lay literature about ADHD medications and their effects on the heart. The concern has come lately from the use of stimulant medications and their supposed association with increased incidence of sudden cardiac death. Let me be quite clear here: there has been no good data to demonstrate that stimulant therapy increases the incidence of sudden cardiac death in the general population.
Avatar n tn from the beginning, we have included weekly, sometimes daily therapy, and in the last three years intensive in home therapy. here we are and my son still gets suspended from school on a weekly basis for stealing, cursing, yelling and cursing at other students, and being as disruptive as he can be. at home he is very slowly coming around and i really think this is just growing up and slowing down a bit.
