strattera and prozac interactions

I have stopped prozac as well.. I was on it from 2006-2008 after switching from Zoloft ( it pooped out) In the spring of 2008, I began having hot flashes and heart palpitations. I was 39 at the time, so I thought it may be perimenopause. I also was having light/scant menstrual cycles. I did, however, add strattera to the mix which may have caused problems ( Strattera and Prozac are chemical cousins and sometimes don't play well together) I added the strattera under my pdocs supervision.

Is it safe to take Adderal XR and Strattera at the same time? I only have a two week supply of Strattera remaining and I'm very much dreading going back to my old self. If it is safe to combine both medications, what should I say to my doctor?

My 8 year old grandson has been on strattera and prozac for a year now. About a month ago he starting acting out in very strange ways. He pooped on the floor in the school bathroom and blamed it on someone else, then urinated in the school bathroom and swears in wasn't him. He went into his grandfathers barn and threw plastic bins of collectibles all over and broke things, then took mail out of neighbors mailboxes and threw it in the water in the ditch.

i started tapering him off and some most of these have calmed down at a quarter of the dose, strattera is a non stimulant and works like an antidepresant wellbutrin but is for kids too..frontline has a series on the medicated child on www . pbs. org, you should really check this out, it is scary!!! deals with kids being on physc meds...

I would look at the birth control pill in relation to your thyroid medication and disease, and also the consequences of mixing the birth control and the Prozac. You may find that switching birth control will allow for treatment other than Prozac. Just a thought, but I think it has merit. Keeping up on your bloodwork and getting stable at the correct level is the best medicine. If Prozac helps short term, go for it. I'm taking xanax.

nursegirl is right abt the warning and IMO your pharmacist should have flagged this...so be sure and talk to them and your doctor too....

I'm currently taking xanax, and will start prozac tomorrow. Does anyone know of any possible interaction between xanax and prozac taken together? My doctor says he's not aware of anything, But I just wanted to get some opinions from people who may have first hand knowledge or know of someone who does. So I guess do benzos and ssri's mix well? I really need the xanax untill the prozac can kick in.

interactions between prozac and fentanyl. My husbands meds were recently doubled. Prozac now 40mg and fentanyl 50mcg. and he is now talking in his sleep every night and constantly scratching at himself in his sleep.

I was diagnosed with PVC's 15 years ago and was put on Metoprolol 25 mg. I've now been diagnosed with depression and was prescribed Prozac 10 mg which I'm afraid to take now because of the drug interactions I've seen on the internet with these two drugs. My problem at this time is that my neurologist who prescribed the Prozac does not deal with candida, and further does not have any information regarding interactions. At age 5 he was diagnosed with pretty sever ADHD. We started on Strattera and after two weeks he violently attacked me...We then went to Concerta then to Focalin then back to Concerta....not ever obtaining great control of ADHD. He additionally was put on Prozac about a year ago for anxiety as he was chewing the skin off his fingers until they would bleed and chew huge blisters on his lips. If birth control is helping mood swings, the problem is likely hormonal, and Prozac doesn't address that issue. If she's been on the meds for as long as you say, it's unlikely to cause nausea now, unless she started the birth control recently. Personally, I wouldn't want a 15 year old to be taking birth control -- playing with hormones is probably not the healthiest thing to do for anyone, other means of birth control are safer for health.

t have adverse interactions, benzos are not only often but usually used with antidepressants. However, the dose will depend on the individual, and so will the drug. Prozac is one of the easier drugs to stop taking -- the one he's taking and the way he's taking it will make it possibly very hard to stop taking.

m not really sure if this helps but I used to be on a maintenance dose of Prozac at 60mg. As for drug interactions, I really couldn't say. You might want to try googling the drugs to get their websites and check for drug interactions there. I know when I was on Prozac I did take a lot of different meds without any problems though I'm not sure about the rest. Hope this helps a little bit.

I'm taking Prozac 30 mg and I've been prescribed Buspirone 15 mg for anxiety. I'm super paranoid about medication in general, but I also have vistaril 50 mg for anxiety. I've scared myself silly looking up medicine interactions. The chance of getting seratonin syndrome is absolutely horrifying to me. How rare is it? Should I cut the buspirone in half? Or should I just take the vistaril and forget the buspirone all together?

One needs to consider which antidepressant may work best depending on your circumstances, what dosage to take, if it needs to be started at a lower dose and gradually increased, drug interactions, side effects, and more. If I were you, I would call the doctor tomorrow and be very assertive about getting seen ASAP, like tomorrow. They should respond to calls and, if they cannot, then they should have another doctor available to handle the calls. I copied what drugs.

i called y dr several times to let them know and she switched me to prisqu (some sis to prozac) b/c she thought it might be b/c prozac...after getting worse and ER trip and worse docs kept blowing me off as i was just exasterbating my symtoms of side effects....i finally goggled my meds on drug interactions and all these were MAJOR drug interactions causing something called serotonin syndrome or serotonin toxity...this can be fatal and i felt like i was going to die...

i have atrial fibrillation and am on heart pressure and heart pills. i also take prozac. i would like to know whether hawthorne berry treatment which i am about to start taking for the atrial fibrillation would have any ill affects mixed with prozac. i have already researched that hawthorne berry tincture has no bad interactions with any heart medicine treatments. would i still have to take baby aspring each day if I am on the hawthorne berry treatment.

I just got off prozac after being on it a year,Im still on wellbutrin sr 150 mg twice a day and thyroid meds and hormones...has any one tried any of these supplements? And do you know if they are safe to take with wellbutrin sr?

I've been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy. A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.

00 P.M he take .5 clonidine and 10 of Ritalin. At bedtime he takes .5 of clonidine and 10 of Abilify. Most evenings he is so tired he wants to go to bed by 7:00 or 7:30. Can this be a result of all of this medication?

Hi all my doc just prescribed straterra and i will be stopping adderal. Adderal made me super paranoid and angry. Anyone know anything about strattera? Any experience? I'm afraid my add is going to skyrocket since Addy is obviously stronger. I took adderal for about two and a half months.
