I have been on Lamictal for a good 4 weeks. Mustering through the nausea and headches it gives me. I am determined to continue on though. It's just that 75% of the time I feel real kinda not like myself. Kinda like watching a movie of my life. I have lost a great deal of my NRG... don't want to work out anymore etc. Don't get me wrong.. their are times I feel great. I just miss the manic part that comes with BP. I will not give up.
I worked my way up to 200mg of Lamictal a day -- and the bad stomach cramps and nausea lasted about two weeks. I was in tears some nights, doubled over with stomach pains and lots of gas -- my normal "anti gas" meds (Pepcid, Rolaids, etc) did nothing to help and I just had to suffer through it for those 2 weeks until the side effects passed.
After that, I have had no further problems with the Lamictal and it does seem to be helping control my bp mood swings.
I have had nausea off and on for several months now. I first thought it was related to the medications Nuvigil and/or Lamictal which I had recently been prescribed, but even if I don't take these meds it continues, and it is almost constant now and has increased in intensity. Twice now I have had 3-4 days where I felt great and then it comes roaring back. It does not seem to be related to anything, eating, not eating.
Common side effects with LAMICTAL include dizziness, headache, blurred or double vision, lack of coordination, sleepiness, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, tremor, and rash. My question is this----there are times when we travel and I believe the stress of travel----time changes when going to Europe etc may trigger episodes that can last for up to 7-10 days long of stomach pain, headache,diarrea etc. Is there anything that you would recommend that can be used to break the cycle? She is on Lamictal 200 mg per day right now. Also how can you destinguish between migraine and seizure? Could this be considered seizure even if there is no confusion with the episodes?

A complete medical history, clinical examination and work up are important for correct diagnosis and management. The causes related to nausea,diarrhea,abdominal pain are food poisoinng,gastroenteritis,stomach flu, lactose intolerance, irritable bowel syndrome etc.Parasitic infestations like amoebiasis and giardiasis will also cause watery stools, abdominal cramps,nausea,fever etc.She should take a light diet and drink plenty of water. See a Paediatrician.
The spinal tap also showed no abnormalities. He is in excruciating pain. The pain started behind his eyeballs and spread to the top of his head and then down to his neck. He is nausea and vomits several times a day. This has been occurring for over three months now and he has also lost about 15 pounds. He cannot hold his head upright with out pain and has been unable to work. His primary care physician has finally agreed to take him off of the Lamictal to see if that helps.
However an anti-depressent by itself would not treat the manic aspects of bipolar and could potentially worsen it so you would need to stay on a full mood stabilizer as well (which is what Lamictal is).
Like, I have depression, bladder spasms, siezures, stomach pain, nausea, joint pain , sometimes constipation. There all signs for acute intermittent porphyria. Also lately my blood pressure has been high. I have so many doctors that one wants one test then I go to a different doctor and that doctor doesn't want it so they cancel it and it's so confusing. We wanted to go to johns hopskins but my endurance doesn't cover it.
combination of medications for someone who needs to suppress menstrual periods and is also taking Lexapro and Lamictal for Major Depression with Bipolar 2 ? My daughter tried taking Yasmin continually (not taking the "fake" week of pills for 3 months) but experiences almost daily cramping, hot and cold flashes, nausea. The gyne was stumped as to which BC pill would be best, as Yasmin is for the PMDD, but causes the side effects for her.
It. consists of nausea, reflux, sour stomach, and stomach spasms. It has gotten to the point where I had my gallbladder taken out. My dreams are now normal day activities, I can't go to school everyday, I can barely work and I can't always hang out with my friends. Have had every test seen tons of doctors and I have lost hope. Ive been on lamictal for around 5 months. added to depakote and has changed my life (diagnosis bipolar). i can actually get off the couch.
I have been trying to lose weigth for a while with no avail. Started lamictal: nausea and some light cramping. although hungry, sometimes I can't eat. Am down from 118# to 112# and continue to fall without effort. even eating chocolate.
just wondering if I should be concerned something else is going on.
A few weeks ago, she had a seizure-like episode at work. She was talking to a co-worker, and the co-worker said that Lindsey look like she was in a daze, then stiffened up & started posturing and then she fell. After falling, she hit her head and had to get 2 staples. She was unconscious before she fell and has no recollection of the episode. Co-workers say she woke up at her office and was asked if she new where she was.
I am on Lamictal 150 mg. I just reached this dosage yesterday. For the past two weeks as I have slowly increased dosage, I noticed that my hands, lips, and eyes were swollen. I am also having allergy-like nasal problems. This morning, my eyes were almost swollen shut. Could I be allergic to this drug? All I was warned about by my psychiatrist was a severe rash.
