Soy milk diet shakes

Common Questions and Answers about Soy milk diet shakes

milk

Avatar f tn Soy products/tofu are good sources of protein, however, if you have thyroid issues, you should not eat/drink soy. Beans and legumes are also good sources of protein, as are eggs, dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt) and whole grains. I don't eat soy, a lot of beans or legumes, so, unfortunately, I can't provide recipes, but you can do a search.

Avatar n tn He will get extra protein and calories from the soy milk. You can make soy shakes with soy milk, soy ice cream and frozen fruit which also will provide extra calories and nutrients. Decrease the juice intake and increase the milk intake to help increase his weight. Hoped this helped you.
Avatar f tn For thyroiditis avoid large quantities of soy products. This means no soy burgers and soy milk and other stuff. It is proven to mess up inflamed thyroids. Veggies like broccoli are also not good, I forget what in it thats bad.
Avatar n tn My midwife said to have it. Soy is not got andthats in protein stuff but Iif it says soy protein isolate thats okay.
203342 tn?1328737207 d say just stay away from them and go for a plan that allows lots of fresh fruits and veggies, lean meats, etc. I guess soy milk would be okay, unless you take a thyroid med, then do not use soy products as they inhibit the absorption of the thyroid med. I think it's always best to get on a plan that will end up being a lifestyle, rather than something like the shakes, because as soon as you go off that type of diet, you will most likely end up right back where you are now.
Avatar m tn pasta), low fat and substitute dairy products (1% milk, low fat/fat free yogurts, low fat soy milk/soy yogurt), use plant oils, non trans-fat margarines, and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables for vitamins and minerals. Eat daily high fiber breads and cereals (oatmeal). Suggest eating 3 meals a day constituency with drinking high nutrient drinks - Ensure, Boost or make milkshakes (milk, fruit, and ice cream blended) or yogurt smoothies (yogurt, fruit, and ice cream blended).
Avatar f tn s Disease, a form of hypothyroid autoimmune disease, can have bad reactions to soy. Soy milk is fine, tofu is fine, tempeh and other fermented soy products such as miso and natto and real soy sauce (this doesn't mean Kikkoman) are fine, fresh soy beans (edamame) are fine, but this shouldn't obviously be the sum total of your diet. All legumes have positive qualities, are good sources of protein and fiber. And remember, all soy milk isn't created equally.
526889 tn?1212540641 pasta), low fat and substitute dairy products (1% milk, low fat/fat free yogurts, low fat soy milk/soy yogurt), use plant oils, non trans-fat margarines, and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Eat daily high fiber breads and cereals (oatmeal). To help eat less food pre meal, eat about 7-10 almonds (good fat), 20 minutes before lunch and dinner so you will feel full faster and not eat as much food.
Avatar f tn 1. Can I consume soy products? Is it suggested to consume soy products thrice every week. (I'm not sure about this. Somewhere I have read that soy has protein and for PCOS one should combine carbohydrate with protein, so it is good to have soy products. I have also read soy has phytoestrogen (estrogenic activity) so it will add to the already elevated levels of estrogen in the body of a PCOS sufferer, so it should be avoided.
768251 tn?1256734583 I have the band and am currently all liquids. As long as you create healthy protein shakes, drink milk (1% or skim), orange juice, thin soup (tomato) and take a GOOD multivitamin and 1200mg calcuim a day, you will be fine. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I'm hoping you can pinpoint why this is happening. About a month ago, I started having these shakes (from powder - adding almond milk, banana & a tsp of peanut butter) as a way to get vitamins/supplements from a liquid form ... instead of a chalky pill (which I've heard is harder on your liver.) They've ended up being a meal replacement because - 1., they're better than I expected, 2. they're pretty substantial, 3. I need to lose weight anyway so what the heck.
Avatar f tn I also found Hemp Milk at Whole Foods which is completely dairy, soy and salt free, in addition to salt free soups, chicken broth and other quick prep stuff. The diet is extremely restricted, but it's only for a limited time and for a very, very good reason.
Avatar f tn pasta), low fat and substitute dairy products (1% milk, low fat/fat free yogurts, low fat soy milk/soy yogurt), use plant oils, non trans-fat margarines, and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Eat daily high fiber breads and cereals (oatmeal) and limit ‘junk’ foods.
1099716 tn?1257569824 Very clean, very good food, great milk shakes. I had nothing out of the ordinary... chicken tenders, fries, this great chipolte barbeque... nothing I have ever had issues with. In fact I've never had any real allergy issues except some pollen and heavy parfume. I ordered a chocolate milkshake when I was leaving... it was the creamiest milkshake I have ever had. All their stuff is "homemade," it's not a chain restaurant. I took a few sips and was fine...
140029 tn?1393298142 ve found a few cereals like puffed rice that seem to work but now taking rice milk/milk totally out of my diet for 3+weeks yeah it's gonna be hard. Plus I have been looking for a fiber supplement since i'm so IBS-C screwed up..so flaxseed is a great idea. I was doing eggs for breakfast but I'll avoid all possible food groups, maybe it's eggs *shrugs* but I missed something..hopefully i'll figure it out. Anyway thank you for that response!
Avatar f tn what if u make a smoothie; 1/2 avocado, 6 Tbl. vanilla yogurt, 3 oz milk or soy milk and one tbl or peanut butter or other nut butter. the taste of avocado will go away but will make thick.. add an ice cube or 2 and even a half banana for more flavor. i urge u to experiment with smoothie recipes adding nut butters and avocado. easy to manage and healthy.
2030686 tn?1351688548 Thanks, I've looked at the pharmacy and asked about rx supplement drinks but they all contain milk. I tried boost clear today and I don't recommend it. It tastes exactly like flintstones vitamins. I'm not too worried about fat. I'm usually able to eat by dinner time, I just need something to get me through the day so I don't get really bad shakes. I wonder if I could find a powder without milk and add it to soy milk.
Avatar m tn As you have been doing, you need to continue to drink either nutrient dense drinks (in addition to eating your meals) such as ensure or make your own milkshakes - soy yogurt, soy milk, and frozen fruit blended; or milk, ice cream, and frozen fruit blended for extra calories, protein and nutrients to help increase your weight. Brush your teeth so you do not get cavities as you stated. Thank you for your question.
Avatar n tn Some children will accept whole milk if you add chocolate or strawberry flavor mix to it. If that does not work and she likes soy milk, then give her soy milk (has the same amount of calcium as in regular milk). Hoped this helped you.
Avatar f tn I'd first consider just adding another healthy meal. Most shakes doctors know about aren't particularly healthy. You can make your own, but to play it safe I'd try using rice protein as the base -- most shakes are either dairy or soy and they are both common allergens and many people don't tolerate them well.
Avatar f tn You get protein from plant sources, such as soy milk, rice milk, soy yogurt, soy cheese, soy ice cream, and rice ice cream. As a vegan you need to combine grains and nuts / seeds for essential protein have to be used daily such as rice and beans, pasta and beans, nuts to oatmeal, peanut butter and bread, and salad and nuts. You can also eat the soy and rice products mention above. Eat more raw fruits and vegetables for vitamins and minerals.
317245 tn?1258737545 The pediatrician said it could be a form of a milk allergy and to put him on soy milk. He has been on soy milk for a month now and the rash is gone but his stools are still horribly loose. In order to keep the stools from being completely liquid we have to feed him the BRATTY diet, and this only gets the stool to a "sludge" consistency not even anything remotely formed. He probably has 4 or 5 dirty diapers a day. I also give him a daily dose of probiotics.
4114400 tn?1349923931 im 23 weeks 2days. i cant even drink flavored milk.
