I love coconut candy, cakes, and such which is what started the research. Turns out that Almound milk is one of the best milks out there for health issues.

I'm also not a big fan of drinking milk anyway (I prefer getting my dairy through yogurt, kefir, cheese, etc) and for drinking I prefer water (for cold) and tea or espresso (for hot). And I enjoy my one glass of red wine for dinner. I also eat full fat dairy, use cream and butter and ghee in my food, opting always for grass fed free range, to get very high quality macro and micronutrients.

Avatar m tn Today it's soy, fortified with vitamin D – a combination just given the OK by the FDA. But soy comes in different forms, as does vitamin D, and BOTH of the forms in this instance are the wrong forms. You've got to wonder…if I know this, and you know this, why in the world can't food industry professionals and the FDA get it right?

Most of these “Western” food sources contain soyprotein isolate, which is a highly processed, devitalized, and toxic food source that needs to be avoided. In 1997, researchers reported that infants fed a soy formula ingested a whopping 28 to 47 milligrams (mg) of isoflavones — estrogen-like compounds found in soy.

Avatar f tn s Disease, a form of hypothyroid autoimmune disease, can have bad reactions to soy. Soy milk is fine, tofu is fine, tempeh and other fermented soy products such as miso and natto and real soy sauce (this doesn't mean Kikkoman) are fine, fresh soy beans (edamame) are fine, but this shouldn't obviously be the sum total of your diet. All legumes have positive qualities, are good sources of protein and fiber. And remember, all soy milk isn't created equally.

Avatar f tn You can definitely be allergic to the soy milk. Also, soy is one of the prime suspects in the food elimination diet that must be avoided while on the diet 'til ready to challenge. You can develop new or different allergies at any time. I myself am allergic to yogurt and kefir. I discovered why it's worse for me than the tiny bit of regular milk used in my coffee (I'm sensitive to soy myself), too. And, it isn't the beneficial bacteria added to the stuff either.
Avatar f tn Yes I agree with hothotsauce. I haven't consumed many dairy products for years (except cheese! I can't help it!) Because milk products don't make me feel great. It also makes people more mucusy. Plus there's something creepy about drinking the milk of a completely different species than our own. Google other calcium options. There's also plenty of soy milk options with calcium too that you can use for cooking, baking, cereal, etc. I hope this was helpful.
