Common Questions and Answers about South beach diet recipes kitchen

Avatar f tn I just have to say again, how happy I am doing the South Beach diet! It is sooooo easy! I just want to be a source of inspiration for anyone who is trying it out! As I said in another post, nothing was working for me. This WORKS! If you follow the plan correctly it is not a fad diet. It is a way of life. You eliminate carbs the first 2 weeks and after that you slowly reintroduce them.
Avatar n tn Am on the south beach diet and am type 2 diabetic. My glucose reading is 87 which is low for me. Am feeling very shaky and weak. Ok to have something with sugar and not ruin my efforts?
Avatar m tn I've never heard of the diet - maybe it works or maybe it doesn't - everyone is different. But since you like meat alot, why don't you read up on the Atkins diet or the South Beach diet. These diets are low carbohydrate diets. Eating low carb avoids the constant stimulation of insulin. The first few weeks of the diet help in getting rid of insulin resistance. Many people say goodbye to their medications on this diet.
Avatar f tn I like fruit so I chose this diet program. Another one is the South Beach Diet that I did as well, that one is good too but I miss fruit, LOL! Good luck!
484844 tn?1253968693 ve been on the South Beach diet before. I liked the emphasis on good fats, but found the 1st 2 weeks, where your carb intake is so severely restricted, to be beyond what I wanted to do. I've heard its supposed to be very good for people with insulin resistance, but I couldn't stay on it long enough to gain any real results. I did lose weight, but regained it pretty quickly when I couldn't make it into a life long change.
325405 tn?1262290178 My doctor recommended South Beach diet and thinks with diabetes it is an excellent diet to pick since it focuses on carbs and lean meats and watching fats as well as carbs. I think I will skip the phase I of the South Beach diet... my blood sugar levels were going too low when I tried it the first day. So, I am starting on Phase II instead, and my sugar levels are normal now.
1858622 tn?1319813203 Read the book South Beach Diet.
667913 tn?1242700488 I have been trying so hard to lose weight....nothing was working...I then started the SOUTH BEACH diet and it finally clicked! I am down 12 pounds in 6 weeks....and I haven't been crazy hungry at all!!!!
193609 tn?1292180293 It has always been hard for me to lose weight (now I know why) but I am considering the South Beach Diet. Anyone have good luck with that diet? I already work out, so now I just need to make sure my diet is in check. I have been counting calories and staying under 1300 but I don't think that is going to be most effective for me now that I know that i have severe PCOS. Doc told me that my testosterone level was high, even for a man!!
Avatar f tn I just want to report how thrilled I am with the south beach diet! It has been a real struggle for me to lose weight the past year or two. And, not only losing weight, but Gaining a tremendous amount! I tried so many other plans with no success...a friend of mine told me about South Beach...and I said, "hey! that is one that I haven't tried yet!", even though I was skeptical I bought the book...Here I am 12 pounds lighter and feeling great!
Avatar f tn Are you doing South Beach Diet or something? I would say back off and try a general low cal. diet like Weight Watchers instead of something as drastic as SB. Try to eat a balanced diet every day.
Avatar f tn Another diet to consider might be a low carb diet like Atkins or South Beach. It will bring your diabetes under control and maybe help your autoimmune conditions. Women get autoimmune diseases much more frequently than men, so it must have something to do with hormone imbalance. So diet might help correct the imbalance in some people. It will give you something to try. If you try one of these diets, since you are diabetic, please check with a doctor first. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn well i just started my diet today, i think i am stickin with south beach, i have about 80lbs to lose, any advise or other alternatives, going to gym too......
Avatar f tn Does she have a buffalo hump on the top of her spine, where the spine meets the neck? The areas where you say she has weight gain can occur with high cortisol levels - cortisol comes from the adrenal glands that sit on top of the kidneys. I've also read that PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) can mimic high cortisol weight gain. PCOS is associated with carbohydrate intolerance. It's possible the South Beach diet isn't restrictive enough for her. She might need Atkins.
Avatar m tn Lots of opinions ("professional" and other) re diet/nutrition. What is working for me now, is a "South Beach/Zone" type of diet which is basically lean meat/fish and vegetables. Almost no starch (bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, etc) and very little fruit -- maybe one portion three times a week. With this diet -- and copious amounts of exercise -- Ive lost ten pounds, brought my cholesterol down from 200 to 150 and normalized my bp from pre-hypertensive.

676032 tn?1315674063 Take a peek at the Zone diet and South Beach plan - this may help you with weight issues if that is what you are asking about. What way do you mean "help" with hypothyroidism?
Avatar n tn Depending on a patient’s particular profile, I suggest either the Dean Ornish heart-reversal diet or the South Beach Diet. If you know anything about heart disease, the Ornish diet is better because it most effectively cleanses the system of excess fat.The South Beach Diet is usually for those with risk factors but no known heart disease. This diet allows more latitude and can still get a person to the recommended targets.
973741 tn?1342342773 Okay people, I got my new Ninja pro juicing and smoothing blender. Can make big containers or single serving. And plan to go to town. Anyone do this on a regular basis? I have the smoothing recipe I've made since my kids were little but am branching out. Recipes? Thoughts? I'm going to try some new ones and I'll post them. Smoothies are a good way to get the 'good stuff' we need easily.

1097839 tn?1344579942 hi all I decided I wanted to lose weight at Christmas. I've been ill with an underactive thyroid and put on about 20 pounds over the last 12 months. I hadn't really noticed it creeping on till christmas because I'd been so ill I was just in a bit of a daze! But since then I've been really paying attention to what I eat and willing the scales to go in the other direction but without much success yet. At least I seem to have stopped gaining.
Avatar m tn I never dieted and lost around 70 lbs. I knew that in order for me to do this for life (did relapse and gained back 33 lbs, now within 9 lbs of goal once again!), I had to do something that would work for me. That being said, I should be quick to add that I had no MAJOR health problems and I had tried many diet plans (WW, Jenny Craig, Atkins, cabbage soup diet, you name it!!!). Guess what? ALL OF THEM WORKED! Yep. For a time. But I always gained back my lost weight and maybe more.
Avatar f tn Any crock pot recipes? I need ideas im tired of being on my feet in the kitchen and want to cook but what can I make in a crock pot...
Avatar n tn That made a huge difference for me because I could see how food selection fit together to make a reasonable plan that I could follow. I also use recipes from the South Beach Diet, a few Atkins things, and find the magazine Light and Tasty very helpful. Good luck!
