Avatar f tn I am currently on the hcg injections from the Native Healing Ways clinic. Does anyone have any recipes for this 500 calorie diet? The information that the clinic has provided does list a few recipes but I would like to expand a bit as I am becoming board with current food choices. Also, I am mostly a vegetarian but eat some fish. Thanks!
287016 tn?1194138575 I also would use that same recipe with salad shrimp. There were a lot of them in the salad. By the way, once in a while, eat 100 grams of protein right before you go to bed. You might lose almost 1.8 pounds the next morning. I did that often. I would wait though until you have done the VLCD for at least a week. I'm on phase 3 now, but I still eat phase 2 foods, I just eat more protein and extra fruit. Good luck I would love to start a Phase 3 Recipe thread. ANy good recipes out there?
Avatar n tn Good morning! I got my husband to read all the postings from yesterday! He kept saying "this is so cool!!", but of course when I tried to get him here on his own he refused! BUT he did ask me to ask every one about their diets. Our doctor has placed him on a 40 gram protein diet. He has seen the dietitian and is now feeling a bit sad and overwhelmed with all the restrictions that have been placed on his diet.
Avatar n tn Hi, I found a link recently which was discussing research on the impact of high protein diets on subjects with and without kidney disease. They concluded that high protein did not cause kidney disease, and neither did it cause most kidney disease to deteriorate.. I will post the link if I can find it again. Controlling BG levels is essential to preventing kidney complications, and has been shown to reverse disease in many cases.
Avatar f tn 5 grams per pound of lean body weight (larger, more advanced individuals could even go higher) Moderate exercisers looking to maintain or burn fat = .75 grams per pound of lean body weight. Sedentary person = .5 grams of protein per pound of lean body weight It's not an exact science, but it gives you a great guideline to follow without being confused. Most studies and research done on protein synthesis seems to show that sedentary people really don't need much more than 20 grams per serving.
Avatar n tn I followed the protocol in KT's book and began my diet on the third day but Dr. Simmeon's protocol says to gorge for 3 days and then begin the diet. I don't know why there is a day difference in the protocols. Also I noticed that DR. Simmeon says to eat white fish but in KT's book he is specific about the white fish being halibut, Chilean sea bass, flounder or sole. Is anyone following just Dr. Simmeon's protocol and if so are you eating other white fish like orange roughy or tilapia?
1464587 tn?1307495205 Has anyone out there had success in a diet to heal lyme in addition to medication?? My doctor has put me on a vegan diet with no soy which I have been on for 2 months and hasn't "seemed" to help........all my symptoms have gotten worse, especially in the central nervous system symptoms. =( for a month now with no let up.
897070 tn?1320656229 Dr Dieterich advised me to give up carbs, not protein. I went on the South Beach diet and feel dramatically better. It's not a diet I will stay on, but I think the advice to give up meat is wrong for people with fatty liver. It's carbs that come from too much sugar, alcohol and processed food that is the main culprit. There are many other reasons not to eat too much meat so that is also good advice. The cure for fatty liver is reducing carbohydrates.
Avatar n tn Hi! Is anyone starting the HCG diet on Black Friday? I will be doing it 4 weeks thanksgiving to christmas? Do you want to start a support group?

In order to make informed nutrition decisions you also need to know what foods and additives to avoid and what supplements can actually contribute to prostate disease.
Avatar m tn or take a fish oil supplement (look for products that provide both EPA and DHA, in a convenient daily dosage of two to three grams). Protein * On a 2,000-calorie-a-day diet, your daily intake of protein should be between 80 and 120 grams. Eat less protein if you have liver or kidney problems, allergies, or autoimmune disease. * Decrease your consumption of animal protein except for fish and high quality natural cheese and yogurt.
Avatar n tn I'm more interested in health than big muscles, though I too lift weights I don't add protein to my diet because I'm an American and Americans eat way too much protein as it is. Don't need any extra unless you want unnaturally large muscles. Which is fine, but it doesn't generalize to the rest of the population. Most studies of low carb diets show they do work short term, but lead to bad health in the long term, so they aren't recommended for long term use.

Avatar n tn I am trying to lose the pudge that I have on my body (its a little fat deposit between my belly button and my midsection). I am trying to do a low fat diet, but the problem is it is quite hard to do this at college. Here are my real choices of foods. Apples Bananas Oranges Wheat pasta with marinara sauce Any sandwich that I want (tuna fish, roast beef, turkey, bologna, etc.
159063 tn?1247276417 No joke. Here's what I would do (with your doctors ok), and the diet I follow. I do NOT do low carb/high protein. I think personally its neither safe, nor do-able in the long run. I believe in simplicity and good foods. You MUST eat enough. If you are going to the gym, you need fuel. Your body simply can't run without it. --I only use fat free dairy (but you have to be careful and read labels, some FF dairy has a lot of sodium). Aim for 2-3 servings a day.
1654058 tn?1407162666 On that note, I'm eating a high alkaline diet to combat skin issues. I'd love to hear a success story. This is the most inspirational website on the planet. Yeah?
5609181 tn?1375335972 I looove carbs, too! Luckily I don't have GD & my diet isn't too high in them anyways, I do have noodles frequently, but I buy whole grain kamut noodles (they have 10 grams of protein per serving, too!!) they are lower in carbs.. that's what I meant by low-carb alternatives. Also, there are some fruits that are lower in sugars - raspberries, blueberries, lemon/lime (don't know very many people who enjoy these raw though! Haha).. watermelon isn't too high in sugar (it's low-medium ranking).
Avatar n tn However, since intestinal bacteria ferment water-soluble fibers, a great deal of intestinal gas may be produced in individuals not accustomed to a high fiber diet, leading to flatulence and abdominal discomfort. Stress is a hidden factor for weight gain and chronic stress can lead to or, metabolically causes excess insulin release, which signals the body to store fat in the abdomen. So try to be stress free as possible.
Avatar n tn I have read that Excersize and a high protein diet can contribute to high AST/ALT readings. I run 4 miles five days a week. I do not consider this excessive. I also eat protein bars (about 50 grams of protein).
Avatar n tn My husband is a newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetic. He just got out of the hospital with ketoacidosis and had an HA1C of 12.1. His sugars ranged from 160 - 380. We had this checked 6 months ago and everything came out "normal." Anyway, he is now on insulin, but we are having a hard time figuring out the whole diet thing. He has been put on a 75 carb/meal diet. He is 6'3" and weighed 150 lbs at the hospital, so he actually needs to put on weight.
