solumedrol

Avatar f tn t help, so I had the 3 day mega dose IV solumedrol. I did not do the tapering off pills, because I was having a reaction to the medicine. Since the end of February my ankles are swollen everyday, all day. I asked my neurologist, and she said it is a side effect of the solumedrol. Any one else experience this.....swollen ankles for so long? When will they return to normal? Help please. Thank you.
Avatar f tn There is such a thing as a severe allergic reaction to solumedrol even though it is hard to imagine that the very drug used to control severe reaction would be the drug causing the reaction! I remember there was an Epi-pen (emergency epinephrine like is used by people allergic to bee stings) in the supplies delivered to my house when I was starting a round of in-home IVSM infusions.
97654 tn?1214348650 ve had a horrible experience with Solumedrol as well.....Back in March I had extreme leg and groin numbness and went on IV Solumedrol for 3 days....I had a nasty reaction to it, but it DID take away the numbness and vision problems almost immediately....Well, within 48 hours anyway..... In May the left side of my head and face went numb and because I was visiting the MS Clinic at that time, I declined the Solumedrol treatment.....That numbness didn't go away for 20 days.....
1172359 tn?1310667693 I am scheduled Monday to do an IV for three days of Solumedrol. Has anyone else done that and if so, what is your opinion. I am alittle nervous about it.
Avatar f tn I am 9 days out from getting 5,000 mgs. of IV SoluMedrol. I have had more results from a dosepack than this massive amount of steroids. It did make the inside of my mouth & lips swell and my throat felt like I was breathing fire. Gol bless MD Anderson. I wasn't able to eat either. I have RA, MS, Meniere's, and Also, if anyone out there has both RA and MS, would you please share what treatment regime you are taking? Soft hugs to all and Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn I just finished my first SoluMedrol IV bag. The lights are so bright! Has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar f tn Hi T- Did you have any reaction to the first 11 Tysabri infusions? I=Did you also have the IV Solumedrol each time? Generally speaking things like rashes are not associated with MS. I wonder of you had some reaction to the steroids.
Avatar n tn Both of us were shocked that something he would have been giving me if I were having an allergic reaction to something else appeared to be causing one! And I had never had a reaction to SM before. Curious. The thing that occurs to me is that I have been changing my diet extremely.
749318 tn?1233191768 for an allergic reaction on my face. I heard him tell the nurse to give me 40 mg solumedrol. When I read his notes for my treatment that day she had actually given me 125mg through injection. I am pretty angry and frustrated about this especially when I specifically said to him "I have severe atopic dermititis (eczema) and recurring skin infections and wei gh 98 lbs please give me as little meds as possible.
Avatar f tn I had a bikini wax so I figured I was having a reaction to that. I used aloe, butt paste (for the zinc oxide), witch hazel, cortisone cream, Benedryl, you name it, without much if any relief. The itching got so bad after a week that we went to see a doctor. The doctor said it looked like folliculitis but may be infected. He originally was going to give me cipro (antibiotic) and prednisone, but said after consulting his literature was just going to do the prednisone and hydroxy something.
Avatar n tn had a severe allergic reaction to the Tysabri on my second dose and then did another wash out until they put me on Gilenya. I was having symptoms that entire time but I told them I didn't want the steroids because I always felt worse after I did the steroids. Did they ever recommend ACTH for you rather than the IV steroids? Do you get any relief from the steroids at all? Do you have really bad debilitating flares?
Avatar f tn Searching, I found you and am excited that there is a group that may actually be able to answer some of my questions. The first thing he wants to do is put me on solumedrol for 5 days, I am not currently in a flair. Any reason I should put myself through that if I am not currently having symptoms?
Avatar f tn I know steroids can make you susceptible to infections, but has anyone developed a UTI on solumedrol? I had the unmistakable first inklings of one a bit ago. I rushed out for cranberry juice and a blueberry smoothie (blueberries are supposed to have the same effect as cranberries, and it's a good excuse for a fruit smoothie!!) and I'm hoping I can keep it at bay this way, but I guess I'll know in a few hours. These things tend to come on fast for me.
Avatar n tn Hello I am a 25 year old female and four weeks ago I was diagnosed with optic neuritis, I was admitted to the hospital for 5 days of IV solumedrol therapy (1000 mg a day). After the treatment my vision mostly came back and the eye pain was completely gone. At the same time I also had a burning arm pain in my right arm with numbness and tingling into my fingers. During my hospital stay I had an MRI of my head, which was normal.
961762 tn?1265229711 his office just called and wants me to take 1 IV treatment of solumedrol - equivalent to 1 gram of the medication. they said if my symptoms improve, this could be more evidence of MS....if they do not improve, then maybe not MS. my concern is that my symptoms aren't very strong and i don't know if i would really notice a difference...or maybe i would? geez, can you tell i am a mess about almost everything! so, have you done this?
1580703 tn?1651904887 s 600-625 for a few weeks. when I took prednisone and solumedrol I came down with sore throat and a bad infection that didn't respond to antibiotics and lasted 1 month. I am still wheezing several months later. what could have caused this and what can I do to treat it? the doctor seems to say it is due to vocal chord problems. I noticed on 40-50mg of prednisone a day my FVC increased from 70 to 80. thanks so much!
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone I start on my IV treatment for 5 days this Thursday, with 500mg of Solumedrol, I am worried about it, can anyone tell me what side affects i may experience, and how to prepare for it, and can i go to work right after the Treatment, thanks Tyler
721523 tn?1331581802 Hi all, I have an injection of Botox scheduled for later this week. I definately started a relapse within the last 3 days. I don't know if I should call my neuro now or wait until after the injection. He is a litle steroid crazy and I don't know that I should mix solumedrol and Botox too close together. Thig is, the armpit sweaing and allergy to antiperspirants is a life long problem and the insurance finally agreed to apy for it. They have already shiped the med to my doctor.
97654 tn?1214348650 At one point this was happening about 15 times per day. I took a round of Solumedrol (3 days) and began taking 300 mg of Lyrica per day. It now happens 4 or 5 times per week. My doctor prescribed another round of Solumedrol which is scheduled for next week (30 days from the first one). I am trying to decide whether I want to do the 2nd round of Solumedrol. It made me feel horrible and was a miserable 4 or 5 days.
1040373 tn?1273687488 Are you taking any DMDs or other meds? I had hair loss approx 3 months after my 5 days of IV solumedrol, but also started rebif & was having thyroid issues, so hard to pinpoint cause. Hair loss lasted a couple of months, then began to gow back. In addition to my other vitamins, I'm now taking Biotin ( a B vitamin) & small dose of zinc -- they can help with the hair thing.
Avatar f tn I had a 4 day Solumedrol drip and then step down pack in February and it made me worse. All my muscles tightened up and I have more pain than I did before. Call it a major fibromyalgia attack. Even now in May, I am still as stiff and woozy as i was after the glucocorticoid therapy. Sigh. Did nothing for me that I can tell. I did sweat a lot during the treatment so maybe i lost a few toxins?
Avatar f tn I am currently being treated with 1 gm Solumedrol once/month. I had a three day course last spring and felt AWFUL afterwards. I did eventually feel a bit better overall, so maybe it was worth it. Even the one day dose makes me feel pretty lousy. My sx actually seem to get worse for a few days afterward! I'm not dx, but symptomatically fit the diagnostic criteria (we'll see what the 3T MRI has to say...
Avatar f tn And not only that, but I also took a lot of immunosuppressants (prednisone and solumedrol) to control the rash while I still had it, whcih serves to weaken the effect of the aitniviral drugs. Yet I STILL SVR'ed. Incevik does most of what it's going to do within the first 4 weeks. After that, the IFN and riba go in for the sustained deep cleansing.
499534 tn?1328704178 Okay here is my short story...lol....I had been having very labored breathing all week and on Tues I went to my dr who decided with my thyroid labs to put me back on Synthroid with Cytomel. So I went from 120mgs Armour to 88mcg Synthroid and 5mcg Cytomel in the morning, started new med 2 days ago. Throughout the week my ribs have hurt more and more front and back and I have been coughing and getting more breathless.
