Solumedrol allergic reaction

Common Questions and Answers about Solumedrol allergic reaction

solumedrol

Avatar f tn There is such a thing as a severe allergic reaction to solumedrol even though it is hard to imagine that the very drug used to control severe reaction would be the drug causing the reaction! I remember there was an Epi-pen (emergency epinephrine like is used by people allergic to bee stings) in the supplies delivered to my house when I was starting a round of in-home IVSM infusions.
Avatar n tn I have had the same allergic reaction about 20 years ago. All the doctors always insist that it is not possible but I was hospitalized hooked up to an IV, no food allergy possible. It is incredible that when I tell drs my allery they don't believe it. I thought i was the only one.
Avatar f tn They get better than after the IV they get worse. Sounds like an allergic reaction. I have a friend with MS who is allergic to steroids. She has the same reaction plus intense itching. Steroids do not alter the course of disease they only help at the time for symptoms. A person can have MS and not use steroids. I do not know about the other illnesses. Steroids work on inflammation. May be benadryl would help the steroids. I get it with steroids.
Avatar f tn Assuming from your comments, that the itching was limited to your genitals he most likely of these would be allergic contact dermatitis. However there are a number of other causes for such an acute reaction. Please see the following that also includes infectious causes (“folliculitis”) to include viruses, bacteria, parasites (e.g. scabies and lice) and fungi.
Avatar f tn My only experience was with 1 dose of the stuff, and follow up with prednisone (it was for an allergic reaction) and with how it makes you feel, I can't imagine a whole bag of the stuff. Is it working for your flare? Have you mentioned the light sensitivity to your Dr at all? Hope you make your way back to us and like Doni says, we look forward to getting to know you a bit better.
97654 tn?1214348650 ve had a horrible experience with Solumedrol as well.....Back in March I had extreme leg and groin numbness and went on IV Solumedrol for 3 days....I had a nasty reaction to it, but it DID take away the numbness and vision problems almost immediately....Well, within 48 hours anyway..... In May the left side of my head and face went numb and because I was visiting the MS Clinic at that time, I declined the Solumedrol treatment.....That numbness didn't go away for 20 days.....

Avatar f tn So I had an allergic reaction to summers eve feminine wash. It's very painful...I figured this would happen I'm allergic to just about anything you put near downtown. Sorry for the tmi...but does any one know any thing that might alleviate the pain?
Avatar n tn From your post it seems to an allergic reaction. It could be an allergic response to a food product or an environmental allergen like dust, smoke, pollen etc. Only an allergy test will help in pin pointing the exact cause of the allergic reaction. Regarding the numbness and muscle twitching, please get a blood sugar test done to rule out diabetes. Also Vitamin B6 and B12 deficiency can cause numbness in various parts of the body.
Avatar f tn For approximately 9 wks now I have been having an allergic reaction to something. I get welts all over my body which are extremelty itchy. Avatar m tn Two days into it her left ear did the same thing, the base of her neck became irritated and her scalp became itchy as well. We took her to the doctor and he is treating it as an allergic reaction. It has come down a bit with benadryl but it's still here, very itchy and it has spread to her cheeks. One week and 3 days into she isn't much better and I'm wondering if it could be something else?
Avatar m tn This is swelling of the deeper layers of the skin due to an allergic reaction. The reaction occurs more commonly on the face around the lips and near the eyes. Therapy lies in identifying the allergens and avoiding them and antihistamines. Its difficult to predict what the allergen was. So, maintain a diary and note down your symptoms. This will help to narrow down the search. Please consult your primary care physician for further evaluation.
Avatar n tn Going to replace interferon with Pagasis to see if I have an allergic reaction with it. itching is unbearable. Is pegasas that different that I might not get the reaction and i might not get the drug for a while.

Avatar f tn This is the second time this has happened to me within the last month. I have been having an allergic reaction to something unknown. The first time I was at work and it started as a rash on my arms then turned into hives on my chest then the third day my lips were numb. I saw my gyno and she said just take benadryl and monitor. Well ive taken it pretty much everyday since and the rash went away but my eyes have been the problem now. The become so itchy and I cant stop rubbing them.
Avatar m tn Allergic reactions just happen. One day your body may tolerate a certain medication or food just fine ... and then another day you have swelling, itching, hives, swelling and trouble breathing! Yes, it's that quick sometimes. Your reaction time must be quick as well. As caregiver said, you need to carry either a 'epi-pen' or whatever medication(s) you and your Dr agree would be best in case of an allergic episode! Best of luck - take care!
Avatar f tn The rash is spreading over my body and it itches like crazy!!!!! I think it’s an allergic reaction but I don’t know what to. I’ve been having to use an inhaler more as well.
Avatar n tn I would highly recommend you speak with your doctor, that's an unusual side effect. It could be an allergic reaction. I don't see anywhere that there is a reaction like that. Are you taking any other meds of any kind including OTC? Do you have allergies in general? My dad gets swollen lips when he is in contact with an allergen. Sounds like it may be the same thing, but do check with your doctor. Hang in there!
Avatar n tn How long would it take to have an allergic reaction to a topically applied cosmetic treatment? I have had a reaction to something and all I can think of is that I used some new products containing natural herbs and fruit enzymes etc, however this was almost 48 hours ago. My symptoms are itching and bumpy, slightly reddened skin on my face.
Avatar m tn You would expect an allergic reaction to appear shortly after exposure. Maybe you have a fungal infection that is caused by the spermicide. You should see your doctor.
