Sneezing cat medicine

Common Questions and Answers about Sneezing cat medicine

sneeze

Avatar f tn Now my cat is sneezing less...but still sneezing now and again so I am not sure what to think. She seems normal otherwise (hard to tell if she is having extra cat naps since she is a cat who snoozes). Maybe it was the cleaning products? If it is an infection, what would be the chances only she would have it and not my other cat? They both hang out together and both are indoor cats.....
Avatar f tn Hello, My cat is 15 years old and he has been sneezing all day! At first I thought it was cute the first time because he woke me up sneezing twice. Then, later on the day he sneezed like almost 100 times. He has heart worms and my parents gave him the medicine yesterday. But I think he may be sick or have a virus! Help me please!?
Avatar n tn My cat is sneezing and seems to have allergies is there a otc medicine that is safe to give her? Please help we are broke and can;t afford to take her to the vet is there something I can do for her?
Avatar m tn Hello, I have a cat who has sense the day we rescued him been sneezing and at points discharging, for a lack of better words, snot balls on the walls. Sometimes when he sneezes its almost 20 times in a row. We have taken him to the vet and have received a medication that did not work after completing the full bottle. I don't recall the name of this medicine. We have a fairly clean apartment IMO.

We have taken him to the vet and have received a medication that did not work after completing the full bottle. I don't recall the name of this medicine. My question is, are there any over-the-counter medications that we can give this poor cat so we don't have to pay 50$ over and over again to visit the Vet.
Avatar f tn Now the last few months she has suddenly developed reverse sneezing. The reverse sneezing seems to be getting worse as well. She RS if she gets excited, runs around, plays, or even just doing nothing. We have her on Hydroxyzine two times a day (I think 10mg.), but it doesn't seem to be doing too much. We have tried her on Benadryl (dose recommended by vet), but that did nothing. I have suspected candida, from all the meds she has taken in her young life. We are now giving her 1/4 teasp.
Avatar m tn I like to know if this sneezing and snoring that is every day thing now in my life after taking all medicine I know of, still the same. is there a better medication that I don’t know of that can do the magic for me, is this regular sneezing with my fast breathing that make me snore I think… is associated to asthma. Can any medic’s help me on this?
Avatar n tn Sometimes my boyfriend's deodorant will set me off, other times it's because I've had a cat on my knee for too long. My sneezing episodes (like many of you above) follow absolutely no pattern and give no warning when they're about to strike. My GP prescribes me loratidine or cetrizine hydrochlorde, I alternate the two as loratidine doesn't work as well for me but doesn't send me to sleep! I also have a nasal spray (which makes me sneeze) and some eye drops.
Avatar n tn we just got a kitten, and although i lived all my life in my partents house with a cat, i seem to have developped a pet allergie. i have itchy eyes, sneezing, easy headaches, difficulty in breathing, sensation of a burning nose. i started taking some allergie stop medicine and use some spray to decongesionate my nose. they work, in big lines, very good, my question is: for how long can i still use this medicine? do not want to abuse it. how expensive are the allergie stop shots?
Avatar f tn You should never give medicine prescribed for a human to a cat. It is very dangerous to the cat to do this. How many days has your kitty been sneezing ? I don't know where you read on the internet that you can give a cat amoxicilian . You can't believe everything you read on line. You said you have no choice. Ah, but you do. You say you don't have money to take her to a vet. There are some vets that will let you pay a little at a time.
Avatar f tn Suki my female cat also has this problem and never seems to stop licking. She has bald spots on the backs of her legs and also on her back towards the base of her tail. We adopted her brother Ted (or should say he adopted us) about a year ago and I wonder if she is stressed. I haven't taken her to the vets as I don't really want her put on steroids, but I have changed her diet to fresh meat in the hope that this might work.
326352 tn?1310997895 As far as medicating her to death, why should she have to take all that medicine just so you guys can keep your precious cat? I understand if she had to be on allergy medication because of other allergies, such as environmental.
372900 tn?1315515902 Our other cat doesn't bite himself at all and we make sure our dogs get their monthly flea medicine every single month. The medicine she got when we first got her was for kennel cough (oral for the sneezing, eye for her runny eyes and nose for her runny nose). I'm sorry I keep posting but these are things I also need to remember to tell the vet when we go on Friday.
Avatar n tn My 10 year old indoor cat started to have sneezing, nasal discharge, weight loss and a runny eye since November of 08 with heavy breathing. Went to the vet, they gave him amoxicillin tablets which got rid of the heavy breathing however it is January and he has lost alot of weight, has excessive phlegm in his troat, minor eye discharge and once in a while a runny nostril. His main problem seems to be the excessive phlegm. They have him on cephalexin which is not helping.
Avatar m tn Two weeks ago, my cat sneezed blood for the first time...He was sneezing before I thought because he had a cold..Next day I took my cat to my family vet and she said it could be a couple of things that caused the sneezing of the blood. A tooth in his mouth looked infected..The root of the tooth was hitting the inside of his nose. I asked the question to vet if she thought it be cancer. The vet took blood work for some test...Most of the results were negative..
Avatar m tn I've read on UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program's web site that vaccination doesn't really prevent a cat from getting URI and can at best help to reduce the severity and duration of the illness. I've also been told by another friend that vaccination may be bad for my FIV+ cat. So at this point I don't know what to do and any advice will be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am looking for some opinions on what to do with our cat. We recently found out that she has a diaphragmatic hernia and were advised to put her down, but we want to know if there are other options first. Here is some more information. She is about 9 years old as of this summer. She is an inside cat. About a year after we got her, when she was just a kitten, she got really sick and almost died.
203342 tn?1328740807 This morning I ran to the store, bought some cat shampoo and allergy medicine and came home and bathed first the long haired one, then my other cat. It did seem to loosen up a lot of hair and such. Maybe that will help some with the hair and dander. I'll try to vacuum more too. Not sure what else I can do at this point but I will check into that air filtration and cleaning the ducts. Thanks everyone!
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
Avatar n tn we had 2 very sick cats this year who passed away -one to cancer and one to FIP- so we are pretty experienced in giving cats medicine.) i'm so frustrated because the medicine doesn't seem to be helping at all, and the cat hates us, hardly eats and just wants to hide under the bed when we're around. i'm beginning to wish we had just taken him to a specialist instead of continuing with a second round of this medicine. Is it normal to take this long to see improvement in the eye while on doxy?
Avatar m tn My 59 year-old father (who is a physician himself -- internal medicine) told me the other day that he has recently experienced headaches on the left side of his head during BMs. He consulted a physician friend who suggested an MRI. But he had a mild panic attack during the scan and couldn't complete it. He got a CAT scan instead, which did not reveal anything of concern. Apparently I am more concerned than he is. He seems fine with the negative results of the CAT scan.
Avatar f tn My kittens eyes keep getting kinda goopey and she keeps sneezing and i clean her eyes but it doesn't really help.. i took her to a vet and the vet said she didn't have any fluid in her lungs and ordered that she take medicine every 12 hours for at least 10 days and she did, every hour on the hour but after she quit taking the medicine it came back.. What's wrong with her? What should i do?
Avatar n tn I have a persian/himilayan cat and it seems she always has a discharge from her eyes--mostly when she sleeps. Is it a common condition of himilayan cats? I have taken her to the vet and have medicine for her eyes but she still wakes up with black goop around her eyes. I wash it off with a moist cloth and that also inspires her to do some cleaning herself.
Avatar m tn I have Houdini a 2 or 2 1/2 old cat who use to be a stray who we took in. he is very sweet and loves to be with people. I noticed 4 stand out things when we first found him was when he jump off of somthing her does not jump like a normal cat.
Avatar m tn It is now almost 5 days later and the pain is still lingering. Feurocet( a migrane medicine) did not help the pain. In the pediatric e.r they perscribed me 2 teylonal mixed with codeine's which did not even touch the pain. Please tell me what is wrong or what i should do.
9104993 tn?1401735542 He has put a lot of weight back on but is still skinny during this time but he is starting to turn in to a really beautiful cat but very sickly with a constant running nose and always really congested and sneezing and a ear condition that will never go away. I put his cage away forcing him to find a new home on top of my bed. I found that if I slide in to bed he is ok with me and I can pull him up in to my arms while he sleeps (all he wants to do is sleep) and we started sleeping together.
Avatar f tn Now he's started sneezing and coughing again. He finished up the medicine about 2+ weeks ago. We have 2 other cats, one is a week older and the other is a little over 6 months. Neither of them are showing signs. They all have their appetite which I was told could leave when they had an infection. I don't know what to do about my little one though.
Avatar n tn My son brought a non allergetic cat ( Korat ) into the house about a year ago and i have a small amount of reaction to it..and now he brought in 2 rats. They are upstairs in his room and in a cage all the time. The last few months I have been experiencing shortness of breath to the point I feel I am being suffocated. Today I walked down the stairs and was out of breath. I have been doing lots of sniffling and plenty of sneezing. I am wondering if you think my reactions are to the rats?...
405614 tn?1329147714 He has tried to spit them out in the past even when wrapped in yummy canned cat food, and has gotten so he doesn't want the canned food even all smooshed up. The vet tech suggested a topical gel (twice as expensive) or a liquid (Fluffy does NOT do liquids), and then suggested that I grind up the pills and disolve it in some soft food. I gave him some chicken baby food as a treat when we got home from the vet, and got a great idea.
203342 tn?1328740807 I took my 12 year old cat to the vet today to get some more eye cream and because she's still throwing up. I've had this cat for 10 years and they've always said the eye and sneezing was probably allergies and just gave me an eye cream when it would act up, which it would about twice a year. This last year she's lost weight from 12 pounds to 8 pounds. The eye is acting up more often and she's been vomiting off and on the last 2 months.
