slim-fast

Avatar n tn Am on the south beach diet and am type 2 diabetic. My glucose reading is 87 which is low for me. Am feeling very shaky and weak. Ok to have something with sugar and not ruin my efforts?
Avatar f tn hi has any one done the slim fast diet----(milkshakes) and lost weight. How lond could u go on for? I'm planning to go on it but will do only one shake for dinner and have breakfast and lunch as normal.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had any luck on the Slim-Fast diet? I just started it, I need to lose around 30lbs.
Avatar f tn Is it ok to drink slim fast while pregnant? I have gained too much weight so far. I started out tiny and now my mid section is huge! I'm not looking to lose weight but eating hurts. My lower back is in excruciating pain and I know it's from the weight gain and due to my belly sticking so far out. I'm only 25 weeks pregnant and I feel the only option is to eat tiny meals to keep up my energy because after I eat my stomach feels so tight b it just hurts.
655875 tn?1295695107 Slim Fast was getting difficult to stay on track. I found myself cheating on the diet. My friend told me about the protien shake that Dr. Oz uses. There are a few recipes on his website. Right now I am using the Ultimate Breakfast Smoothie. It tastes awesome and it actually keeps me full for over 6 hours. I have zero cravings for food and sweets. I've cut back my dinner portion.
Avatar m tn t havin those shakes (which I hate protien shakes are good mostly but make sure not to just have that). A book on South Beach will talkt o you about something called "The Glycemic Index." Stay away from potatoes, corns (if you can), any fast foods, breads or any kind especially white (if you have to have it go multigrain and try to have it only once or twice a week including pasta). All of these things help. The motto should be if it's white spit it out.
Avatar f tn any tips on cravings.. im not on slim-fast but it is a shakes and soup diet... also any exercise tips for being quite obese... the thought of doing anything like the biggest loser makes me feel sick.. something gentle but effective... any takers?
Avatar f tn Also covered are discussions relating to specific diet plans like the South Beach Diet, Atkins Diet, Slim-Fast, Weight Watchers, Counting Calories, Fat Flush, Body for Life and others." "Fat Flush" is a detox diet, much like a fasting regime. "Slim-Fast" is not a natural product. I am getting confused by the terse dismissals being offered to people who have come here for support.

1110747 tn?1295844043 I am going to start the south beach diet. The first two weeks are low carb. Then u can switch to the next phase which is where u add in healthy carbs. And u stay on that phase I beleieve until you lose the weight u want to lose. Then you switch to the last phase where you add in your occasional sweet treat i beleieve. I have to purchase the book still. This is all what I have heard from friends that have done it and lost all their extra weight. Good luck with everything!
Avatar f tn I just have to say again, how happy I am doing the South Beach diet! It is sooooo easy! I just want to be a source of inspiration for anyone who is trying it out! As I said in another post, nothing was working for me. This WORKS! If you follow the plan correctly it is not a fad diet. It is a way of life. You eliminate carbs the first 2 weeks and after that you slowly reintroduce them.
Avatar m tn Lots of opinions ("professional" and other) re diet/nutrition. What is working for me now, is a "South Beach/Zone" type of diet which is basically lean meat/fish and vegetables. Almost no starch (bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, etc) and very little fruit -- maybe one portion three times a week. With this diet -- and copious amounts of exercise -- Ive lost ten pounds, brought my cholesterol down from 200 to 150 and normalized my bp from pre-hypertensive.
484844 tn?1253968693 ve been on the South Beach diet before. I liked the emphasis on good fats, but found the 1st 2 weeks, where your carb intake is so severely restricted, to be beyond what I wanted to do. I've heard its supposed to be very good for people with insulin resistance, but I couldn't stay on it long enough to gain any real results. I did lose weight, but regained it pretty quickly when I couldn't make it into a life long change.

878888 tn?1319634044 My doctor highly recommends the South Beach Diet as a way to slim down and lower my numbers. Good luck to you!
1968463 tn?1374757813 I packed on alot of weight (35lbs.) in three months and my doctor said that it was due to one of my meds and that a three day juice fast may help me detox my sytem and gain a healthier start. I was just wondering if anyone here has trjed it before. I have read alot about it and it sounds awesome. Everone that I know that has tried it has said they feel so much better...and I want to try it, but I am wondering how it will effect me with all of the meds that I am on.
Avatar f tn Well I have tried over and over again with pills shakes nutrisystem slim fast weight warchers etc you name it I tried it.
193609 tn?1292180293 There are some in this community who have been/are on the South Beach diet and from what I hear it's worth trying. I'm considering it for myself. I've also read quite a few articles that say some doctors prescribe metformin for PCOS and that helps them lose weight. Metformin is a drug typically used for type II diabetes, but apparently works well for PCOS as well.
Avatar m tn //www.southbeachdiet.com/sbd/publicsite/how-it-works/how-it-works.aspx) Typical bfaksts were (1) egg whites and salads with olive oil/vinegar dressing; (2) sardines and salad or steamed vegetables; (3) sometimes oatmeal and eggwhites. Typical lunch or dinners: (1) Broiled fish and bag of steamed vegetables or salad; (2) Can of red Salmon and bag of steamed vegetables or salad; (3) White Meat Turkey Burger and bag of steamed vegetables or salad. Snacks: mostly almonds and other nuts.
193609 tn?1292180293 I keep some Slim Fast shakes (or sometimes a store brand) in the fridge for those times when I don't have time for breakfast or just something quick. They come in several flavors and served ice cold, they are quite tasty.
1466015 tn?1286304436 Anyway, I and my husband bought the South Beach Diet book and went on it together. In the first week I dropped something like 15 pounds. By the end of the first month we had both lost a minimum of 25 pounds each. That weight loss was a real boost to our physical ego, and so we worked hard to stay on the diet. We continued to drop weight quickly and effectively the whole time we stayed on the diet. By the time Spring arrived I was down to a size 12 and he was a 33 waist.
Avatar f tn I just want to report how thrilled I am with the south beach diet! It has been a real struggle for me to lose weight the past year or two. And, not only losing weight, but Gaining a tremendous amount! I tried so many other plans with no success...a friend of mine told me about South Beach...and I said, "hey! that is one that I haven't tried yet!"...so, even though I was skeptical I bought the book...Here I am 12 pounds lighter and feeling great!
Avatar f tn The South Beach Diet. Recmmended by many doctors including our resident medical expert in the professional forum. Buy the book and/or sign up for their internet program. http://www.southbeachdiet.com/sbd/publicsite/funnel/v2/index.aspx?
Avatar f tn Are you doing South Beach Diet or something? I would say back off and try a general low cal. diet like Weight Watchers instead of something as drastic as SB. Try to eat a balanced diet every day.
Avatar m tn I'm 24, 5'7", 204 lbs currently. I recently (since March) have lost 20 lbs through diet and exercise but it seems like I'm at a stand still, and in the last week I have actually gained a pound and a half even though my diet and exercise regimen has not changed.
