4336029 tn?1352988422 Got results said I have severe apnea During nite my oxygen went from 99% to 77% Got to another sleep study checking BI PAP AUTOSV. I guess I want to know how serious this and can I die from this condition.
3052618 tn?1344105035 I had a sleep study last night, to rule out sleep apnea. I don't have the full report yet (He said my doctor should get it Wednesday). He did however tell me a few of the things he saw on it.. but he didn't explain them. He said that he saw intrusions in my brain waves or something. And that parts of my brain were active that weren't supposed to be (I'm guessing while asleep, surely not while I'm awake as well).
Avatar m tn I wear TAP 3 appliance. Did a sleep study with Resmed Appnealink Plus. 4 Apnea, 12 Hypoapnea/M , AHI 19, Average O2 saturation 93%, lowest 83% once, pulse h 101, low 50, avg 74 then I wore Auto CPAP s9 along with TAP3 and AHI was 0, All Apnea are gone, O2 average was 95% but lowest desaturation episode was 76%, once, pulse H 104,lowest 47 and average 72 Why does this lowest desaturation event up to 83% occur even with CPAP ? Is this a clinically significant to seek an opinion ?
Avatar f tn Yes, there can be a link. Every time you stop breathing, you create a vacuum effect that can suck up your stomach juices into your throat (causing your voice box inflammation which can lead to hoarseness, cough, lump sensation and post-nasal drip). It's been shown that stomach contents can then either go into your lungs or into your ears or sinuses. Consider that it's not just acid, but bile, digestive enzymes, and bacteria that's coming up.
Avatar f tn I told him I have sleep apnea, some days worse then others. I just did the sleep test last weekend and it came back negative. She told me to be considered to have sleep apnea you have to stop breathing 15+ times an hour. I asked to be tested, and am glad I did. I ended up having to take the test twice, the first night I could feel my self waking up and not breathing, but a cord came unplugged so I had to do it again and slept fine the next night.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms of always being tired and depressed could be directly related if you have sleep apnea. Talk to a couple different sleep clinics and ask them what options there are for someone uninsured. If you decide to use a cpap machine, there are some called auto titrating machines that can test you at home and determine what pressure you need to keep your airways open. Not as thorough as a full fledged study in a sleep lab, but better than nothing. Gather information and see what you can do.
222135 tn?1236488221 One of the things to come out of my hospital stay was an order for a sleep study. Can these be of any help to my diagnosis process (for whatever I have)?? I do sometimes awaken with body parts twitching pretty violently - not all the time though. I sometimes awaken to spasms, but again most of those occur when I am awake. Wake up with a headache almost every day. Just curious. BTW - my borther was released from the hospital today.
1174003 tn?1308160819 The nurse would wake me up and everything would be fine. The doctor said I had sleep apnea. I am unsure about that my understanding of sleep apnea was the body waking itself up due to lack of oxygen. Granted I didn't go to medical school. My question is do you agree with the ER doctor my O2 stats dropping that low when I sleep is a sign of sleep apnea? I was not flat when I would fall asleep the bed was propped and I was on my back. Typically I do sleep on my side.
Avatar f tn This lead to a much more costly sleep study that diagnosed me as mild obstructive sleep apnea. I was not suffering from lack of sleep, not sleepy during the day and the doctor said I may not notice much improvement in my daytime life by using a CPAP. We talked about my weight, which I would call mild over weight, but it seems I had enough fat in my neck that loss could open that ups for breathing.
Avatar m tn What did your sleep study show? Has sleep apnea been ruled out?
5159375 tn?1368562728 So last night I finally got to get some shut eye around 4. But I kept waking up because I couldn't breathe. I'm sure this is sleep apnea because my brother and my mom have the same issue sleeping. It was so bad I felt myself stop breathing several times and woke gasping for air :( I just want a good nights sleep!!!
Avatar f tn did you get a copy of your sleep study? Your sleep study will tell you how many obstructive apneas, central apneas, hypopneas, and RERA's (respiratory effort related arousals). I have almost all RERA's and 7 Hypopneas and am technically "UARS - Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome." If you have the report, that can help a lot in determining which.
1388874 tn?1279780177 You betcha. If you want a definitive answer, then consult your doctor and ask for a sleep study to be done. While sleep apnea is treatable, going untreated isn't a good plan. It is linked with a number of diseases (including heart disease), depression and other symptoms. I know from experience. Of course he might not have sleep apnea, but I think it is worth checking out. A sleep study is completely painless.
Avatar f tn Well... A quick update. I did have my sleep study and found out I have obstructive sleep apnea. I go back on the 16th to find out what pressure is needed. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or preferences on cpap machines and masks.
400764 tn?1201418583 Have you done the sleep study ? I am worried for the anxiety you have regarding Sleep apnea. Death is a very distant complication. Please keep us posted.
967168 tn?1477584489 When I was diagnoised with a-fib, one of the very first things my EP had me do was have a sleep study. And yes, I do have sleep apnea. I do use a CPAP machine. I have been using it since January 2005. It did help with my a-fib at night. Good luck with the sleep study. Wishing you well, and wishing you enough..
Avatar f tn Hi, Dr Carolyn Dean talks about sleep apnea and Magnesium supplementation . If you google : Magnesium and sleep Apnea. I have family members who also refuses to use CPAP, so they are trying Mg instead. Still at the starting stage. But what I could tell you is that snoring is definitely less.. :) Sleep apnea causes high BP, memory loss, headaches, poor concentration, fatigue and so many more.. So I'd say, give Mg Glycinate a try..
Avatar n tn Just recently I have been given a sleep study and I had very little REM and many sleep apnea episodes, My Pulmonologist has ordered another sleep study using C-pap. I am hoping that my side effcts are actually symptoms of sleep apnea.
Avatar f tn Hey~ I am so sorry to hear last night was so bad for you. And that this has been such an awful ongoing problem. Sleep deprivation, or just that feeling that you'd rather be in bed, is torturous! I have have a couple of sleep studies, each of which has shown I have OBSTRUCTIVE sleep apnea, far different than CENTRAL apnea, and not usually asscoiated with MS. (Central sleep apnea can be associated with MS, the way I understand it.
1054090 tn?1343965695 If you do have sleep apnea, the treatment is that you will sleep with a CPAP machine. It stands for Continuos Positive Air Pressure. You wear a mask that blows air down your passages to keep them from closing when you sleep. Cause when they close is when you stop breathing. Id it is determined you have sleep apnea it is vital that you wear the cpap eveytime!! You can die from sleep apnea just as easily as a baby can die from sids.
Avatar f tn Thank you so very much Dr. Park, I do have alot of the medical problems that you mentioned above, and I think my question was expertly answered, again thank you very much.
Avatar n tn All the symptoms you describe and the high red blood cell count could be attributed to obstructive sleep apnea. I would question the validity of a sleep study that only lasted 3 hours, with you fighting “to stay asleep." You should definitely give the continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device a fair trial. You also need to have further discussions with the sleep specialist, about his/her impressions of your symptoms.
Avatar n tn I have sleep apnea. I am 42 years old and is not over weight. My problem is I am having headaches durning my sleep. When I wake up fully I don't have headaches. This happens all night long. I don't know if I am having dreams of having a headaches but the pain in my head feels real. Then I wake up and it gone. Does anyone know what going on with me?
Avatar f tn s been shown that people with sleep apnea and their bed-partners make very poor judges of whether or not someone has obstructive sleep apnea. Only a sleep study can show this. Having said this, if you're feeling fine with no other medical problems such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, depression, anxiety, weight issues, heart disease or fatigue, then you can just watch carefully for now. Otherwise, you should get a formal study.
