Avatar m tn No matter how many ab exercises you do, it won't show until the layer of fat is gone. Crunches and flutter kicks may give you six pack and but they won't show. Cardio helps burn fat and will remove that layer right off your belly. Anything that can get you heart pumping is cardio so make it fun! Dance fast to an upbeat song. Do jumping jacks. Run in place or just run. Look up at home cardio workouts for some fun ideas. Zumba is a great cardio workout.
Avatar n tn However, the length of time it takes to get-six pack abs depends upon your gender, how consistently you train and whether or not you have an excess amount of body fat. Strength train consistently and follow a hypertrophy, or muscle building, program. That's a high frequency of training sessions, with each session being of high volume. Rectus abdominus muscles like all muscles in your body require a rest from strength training, so allow 48 hours of recovery time between training sessions.
Avatar n tn We all know that no amount of sit-ups or crunches will give you a six- pack! A six-pack is the result of a clean diet as stated above, low body fat and hard, hard training. Crunches are what I consider a good "finisher" at the end of your core training, poor form often results in not much else than a sore neck. Instead, work your core with dynamic stabilizing moves.
Avatar n tn For a six-pack to show, you must reduce body fat. The body fat percentage necessary to reveal a cut torso varies according to your genes and body type, but for most men, a percentage of 6 to 8 percent will reveal abs, while for women require a percentage of about 11 to 13 percent. To reduce body fat, reduce calories below what you burn daily, which can be determined by finding your basal metabolic rate. A 250- to 500- deficit daily will lead to a 1/2- to 1-pound weight loss in a week.
Avatar m tn Hi people, everyone has concerns about the well being of their child I too have some. Lately, he is getting mad to get the abs (six pack abs as they call it). I don’t think that this is something bad but the ways he is trying is a bit crazy. He believes all that is being told to him and I can’t figure out how he can get them without training the right way with the right exercises.

Avatar m tn A push-up not only helps you to get a stronger upper body, but also a stronger midsection. It incorporates the stabilization muscles of your core, combining an upper-body pushing movement with a plank. It is, in fact, one of the best and most basic exercises for your midsection. Push-ups are a higher value plank.
Avatar f tn Have you ever considered running?
Avatar f tn You get a flat stomach by dieting, any exercise will help build some muscle there but most people have a six pack underneath the fat already, and everyone has a "flat stomach underneath the fat.. This is why and on skinny guys don't count :P Also, a lot of people's pooch or whatever you call it has a lot to do with inflammation of the digestive track.
Avatar f tn How fast after baby can I start working out like a beast? Isn't the normal time like 4-6 weeks? I need to do core and sit ups asap after words. Just wondering how fast til I am "allowed"?
Avatar f tn I've been exercising for long time and i can feel my six pack (when i push my finger on my belly) but it's hidden under a layer of fat. Why? What should i do? Any tips?
Avatar f tn Every ab workout should include back exercises. Some ab exercises already engage back muscles such as planks or Pilates. Exercises that target the back include the lumbar extension, which involves laying prone on the floor or a ball, and lifting your head and shoulders by using your back muscles. You can have your hands on the floor or ball for support, but don't use them to push. Bird-dog is another effective back exercise.
Avatar m tn Thanks Vanessa, you have been a big help, and I must say after six stones I will do whatever it takes not to have them form any longer. thanks again.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately there isn't enough information about what you're exercise routine is. If all you're doing is cardio and legs...... You're not necessarily going to lose weight and it definitely won't get you a six pack. You're nutrition is going to be about 90% of it but if you want to see those abs you're going to need to change up your routine.
Avatar f tn Exercises to pull in your tranverse abdominals (think of those as a corset around your core, the rectus abdominals are those which make a six pack) are planks (side and pushup position), isometric holds (think holding a pullup bar and pulling your legs up straight and holding for a few seconds at a time). But focus on your diet to get rid of stubborn belly fat. Cardio will also help shed the excess fat. Try walking on an incline for 20 mins, then build to jogging intervals for 20.
Avatar n tn Hi Everyone, I have been trying these for months and months but it doesn’t help me anymore. I am talking about six pack abs that I am trying to get. I joined a gym for this and the trainer told me that I would get them…but NOOOO!! That did not help me and later on I have tried a few tips that I have been suggested by my friends but that also was of no use (the whole thing helped the abs a little…but not as I wanted).
Avatar n tn I played sports heavily all my life, high school varsity football 3 year letterman in Ohio, 13 years of baseball, the works, and I never had breathing problems really, except walking pneumonia during my senior football season. Its been about 2 and a half years and about six months ago my breathing became very difficult, my lungs felt tight, I coughed up brown chunky phlegm, and felt low on energy, like i don't have enough oxygen or something. I smoked about half a pack a day.
Avatar f tn It's not muscle memory lol.. it's that after ur 1st ur stomach muscles are not as tight as a 1st timer so it shows faster cuz it's loose. But if u exercised n worked on ur abs n they r strong then it will be the same as a 1st timer. This is my 3 n I exercises n had a six pack after my pregnancies so even on my 3rd I didn't show til 25 weeks.
Avatar f tn It's mostly genetics n hydration. . Oh n how fast ur belly grows. So if ur wanting to get stretch marks well u can't do anything abt the genetic part but u can drink lots of water n eat healthy so u don't gain weight to fast. I haven't used any lotions for any of my pregnancies. This is my 3rd n I have no stretch marks. In fact b4 this after my 2 pregnancy I exercises so much that I had a completely flat stomach n a 6 pack.
Avatar f tn So im 15 and trying to lose a stone or so for summer, I was wondering if any off you know about any quick exercises I can do before school thank you
Avatar m tn Hello, from past experience I've noticed that drinking any amount could set your heart off at any given time during rest ( if you have any form of heart condition, SVT, or VT ). When you say a few, how much is a few? I remember clearly some years ago, I was having a great night with good friends, didn't over do it on the alcohol, had a six pack in 5 hours and suddenly started getting palps and then boom full on svt.
Avatar f tn Instead of just working the upper abs, do exercises that do the whole core in order to promote equal dimensions . Some exercises include leg raises, jacknifes, Swiss ball side crunches, side bends, Swiss ball crunches and hanging leg raises. The Swiss ball will use more ab muscles. Do each one of the exercises consecutively for 15 to 20 reps with no rest in between. Then take a 60-second break and do them all again. Repeat the whole circuit four to six times.
Avatar f tn Lab place I used like to "always fast" at least six hours prior.regardless of the test. They claimed it made the blood cleaner and easier to run their tests on. Me, I always figured it for a great excuse to go out after for lunch at some nice place. My wife has more of an issue, since she works nights and the fasting part of things has always been horrible for her. But the meal reward is worth it!
Avatar f tn For me, hard work hard physical labor such as yard work, lifting, perhaps building a wall with stone ... this was the type of work that got me a six pack, but at the same time I was losing weight for a health problem (Celiac) so my body fat got low.
