What I found interesting, was that after looking at my favorite top 5, increase and decrease in libido was not even mentioned although they were quick to note side effects such as depression, vaginal dryness and legathy.

Actually, Lipitor is much stronger than Simvastatin and has a much higher incidence of side effects, unless I have missed some new data. According to the links I have Simvastatin is the safest statin on the market.
I take Simvastatin with no side effects, and have for several years, and so does my husband, also no problems. It's done an excellent job of lowering both our cholesterols.
However, I recently read that studies have shown that, although less common than with SSRI antidepressants, Wellbutrin can cause sexual side effects, such as decreased libido and impotence. I would like to know if anyone else on Wellbutrin had these symptoms? Will these symptoms subside? My depression is getting better, but these sexual problems are starting to take a toll on my self-esteem.

Have you been on Simvastatin long? Side effects normally do not start after 90 days of use. Your other drugs may be causing the problem, especially the Neurontin which has concentration problems as a main side effect which can get worse the longer you take it.
If you feel it is the Simvastatin, you can always ask your doctor about going off of it for a short while to see if it improves. This is a rare side effect of Simvastatin so I would look elsewhere for the problem.

I also read it causes brain tumor - that's scary... and I read I must not stop this medicine unless doctor says. So I'm kinda trapped here and I don't want to loose my libido.

This could be an allergic reaction to the drug. It will stop if the drug is withdrawn.
I am a 62 year-old male who has been taking simvastatin for about 30 years. All of my cholesterol-related numbers are in a healthy range, and I have never experienced any serious side effects (e.g., muscle weakness, kidney and liver impairment, etc.). I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Vytorin does a remarkable job of reducing your Cholesterol, much better than Zocor (Simvastatin) alone. However, Zetia doesn't seem to add anything to the picture as far as preventing heart disease is concened. But read this about Zocor:

I would recommend asking your Dr or pharmacist if these are possible side effects. There could be another reason why you're gaining weight and your BP is up. You should'nt have any side effects from stopping this med but, your Dr put you on it for a reason. I take it you had high cholesterol numbers? See your Dr before you quit taking it. The main study for Simvastatin was the 4S trial which proved that the incidence rate for side effects at 40 mg of Simvastatin was 1 in 2,220 prescriptions. What is interesting is that the incidence rate in the placebo group was 1 in 2,223. Also muscle pain is a very common complaint and is a symptom of many conditions.
Ed is correct about the half life, a normal 40 mg dose is out of your system within a day. Also, any side effects are usually gone in a couple days or a week at most.
