Avatar f tn I am thinking of going back and change to Venaflaxine. Used it for 4 years and felt much better than with the Sertraline.
Avatar f tn There is no best. The best is which one you metabolize better and that works best for you. If you want it for as-needed relief, I would say klonopin isn't as good because it takes longer to work, though it does work longer as well. Klonopin is usually dosed regularly every day, but they don't tell you, of course, that makes it addictive. Never told me. Safer to take them as needed, and for that purpose I'm not sure klonopin is the best because of the time it takes to work.
Avatar m tn I'm a 30yr old male. I was on Sertraline approx 10 years ago for depression and it seemed to work until a crash. For one reason or another over the years, my treatment has changed several times. It is 2011 and i have found my way back to sertraline. I am currently taking 10mg of buspirone 2x day and 15mg of mirtazapine for major depression and generalized anxiety. I have been feeling constantly tired, apathetic and despondent.
Avatar m tn You have been prescribed Sertraline for mood swings and also it is working well for you, your correlation of using Sertraline and getting migraines might be ok, but it is always better to discuss with the doctor who prescribed the drug about its possible side effects and a substitute thereon. You might consult a migraine specialist also to get an evaluation and update on drug use. Try relaxation techniques to decrease stress. Keep posting your views. Take care.
Avatar n tn To find a well informed answer to your query about the Sertraline-Propranolol combination, you need to look for information/evidence according to the hierarchy. A systematic review (a review of a number of studies exploring the same issue) is considered the best as far as strength of evidence is concerned. Clinicians' experience, case reports and non-journal articles are lower level sources of evidence.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Amitriptyline for a while for depression and pain but 6 weeks ago I suffered a stroke and my depression is worse so was given Sertraline along with the other.
1709162 tn?1314084832 you went to hospital complaining about chest pain, they gave you a check for your heart has most hospitals would. maybe sertraline was not for you maybe you were having panic attacks .
612551 tn?1450022175 Happily, no serious side effects but the fatigue is also present due to bereavement/grief struggle and that may the main driver for fatigue, Sertraline may eventually reduce that depression-type symptom, fatigue. Welcome any experience on how long it took to notice: 1) benefit, 2) decrease in side effects. Yes, I can search the web but look form the personal touch of a living patient telling of their experience.
Avatar n tn Speed is a treatment for depression, though for many it causes anxiety so it isn't usually used for that anymore. One of the natural treatments for depression is phenylalanine, an amino acid that targets norepinephrine, or adrenaline. Snris such as Effexor and Cymbalta target both serotonin and norepinephrine (which is why they too are not recommended if your primary problem is anxiety).
1665434 tn?1365238898 i have had ocd now for 5 years i been on sertraline for about that time but last year all my unwanted throughts went away it was great for a year i stop taking my sertraline and then it came back i been back on the sertraline now for over 6months and i think it makes me worst i feels tension. jumpy.down and my unwanted throughts are as bad as ever.
Avatar n tn I have taken Propanolol and Effexor for a couple of years with no issues. I don't take the Propanolol for anxiety but for a tremor in my hand. Propanolol is used as an anxiety medication, cluster headaches, high BP and tremors like mine. I have taken it with just about every antidepressant out there with no issues. At one time I also took a BP medication with it due to high BP and with no problems. Although with lifestyle changes I was able to get off of the BP medication.
9475243 tn?1405300275 I am SO so glad sertraline is working for you! thanks for sharing.
Avatar f tn I have melancholic depression, and fatigue/numbness/anhedonia are some of my biggest issues. I am currently on 100 mg of zoloft/sertraline and I have been for almost a year now. It hasn't had any negative effects, I haven't gotten more depressed, but the positive effects have been minimal. Mostly I just cry less and am better at redirecting my emotions (ie I dwell less). These are nice effects but I am still depressed.
Avatar f tn I also discovered I have a severe vitamin D deficiency. My doc prescribed vitamin D2 50,000IU and Sertraline(25mg). I have been on the Sertraline for a week now, but my reaction to the medication is different this time around. I'm experiencing insomnia, tingling sensations in my hands and head, nausea, feeling spaced out and a lower mood. Does the same SSRI work the second time around? Could I be having these side effects because 25mg is too high of a dose for me?
Avatar m tn I have recently started sertraline for anxiety and depression, at the same time found I am borderline diabetic. My average level of glucose reading is 154. Can sertraline have any effect on the pancreas?
Avatar f tn Thank you hun for your comment,im going to try and avoid taking them for aslong as i can. I have my prescription so if i really need them, ill get them from the chemist.
Avatar f tn I started taking Sertraline. Its been 3 weeks now. I am on 50mg for 3 days now and I can't sleep at night. If I try to sleep I wake up and can't even stay asleep for more than 2 hours. During these episodes I feel anxious and out of control. Is this normal. Has anyone ever experienced this before on Sertraline. If so what did you do to help yourself. I am a mother of 4 and a full time student.. I am under so much stress and worry even more so since this Covid19 Pandemic.
Avatar f tn 30AM, take my Provigil, then by about 9 or 10AM, I had the energy I needed. My severe pain issues made it necessary for me to get off my feet for a bit during the day, and this was about the time the provigil would wear off. I would take my second dose about 1PM, which would then kick in around 4 or 5PM, and wear off by bed time. This worked for me for a long time, and i avoided the jitters, because I was still getting a good night sleep, and resting my body during the day.
Avatar f tn I might be pregnant and my psychiatrist told me not to worry about the embryo. He told me that even while I'm taking 15 mg of Aripiprazole and 50 mg of Sertraline daily, there is no danger. I'm really worried. if I'm pregnant, would these doses harm my embryo being taken daily?

Avatar m tn I used to be on zoloft for 4 yrs and felt good...stopped for 6 months and on my 3rd week of sertraline right now not feeling as good the first time around. Is there a difference with the two drugs?
Avatar f tn My sertraline tablets recently stopped working so well and the GP switched me straight on to fluoxetine. It was a complete nightmare, withdrawal from sertraline plus the side effects from fluoxetine took me to the most terrifying place. I then stopped all ssris and have not had any for 17 days. The first week was awful but then I started to improve, I seemed to get my energy back and I could go out and do things, this was short lived.
Avatar m tn s the better choice for now) and she told me to take sertraline for a month to see If I get the wanted improvement. That was some time ago, I didn't take the sertraline then because I felt kind of scared about it because I read it is an antidepresive and I'm not depressive. Later I talked about it with a couple psychiatrists on the internet and my psychiatrist, they all told me not to be scared about it, they told me it was just to help something related to serotonin.
Avatar f tn Meds work differently for different people. You will likely get a better response from your pharmacist who sees many people taking these meds or the person who prescribed these meds since anecdotal evidence from each person here will not likely apply to your body.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking sertraline for mood swings and have been taking it for about 5 years. I also have recently been put on topamax for migraines. I have read about all this wonderful weight loss. If anything I have gained. Could these 2 medicines together be holding me back from losing> I would like to go off of the sertraline.
