Seroquel vs wellbutrin

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel vs wellbutrin

Avatar n tn I was put on 150mgs of Wellbutrin XL roughly a month ago. In addition to Wellbutrin XL, I was also taking .5mgs of ativan 2x daily prn, 150mgs Straterra, and 100mgs Lamictal before bedtime. Shortly after taking the Wellbutrin, I began to feel very irritable and angry towards others.
Avatar n tn I take a Lithium/Wellbutrin combo and it is awsome for me. Controls both sides pretty darn good! It is really trial and error with any med, it might or might not effect your libido. Just have to try and see. If it does, switch again! I know tegretol kills it too. So you might do better on Lithium or Prozac. Just make sure you are on some anti-depressent so that you do not get a deeper depression off of it. Lithium is not an anti-depressent it is a mood stabilizer.
Avatar n tn I am on Tareg for blood pressure, from specialist....then my GP put me on Wellbutrin and klonopin .... which my specialist took me off and said take Xanax only with the Tareg. Any comments much appreciated.
1717715 tn?1318300895 I do not see a therapist and I take Wellbutrin for OCD/anxiety. However, I will say that I used to see somebody when I first started having these attacks. The lessons I learned then I apply now, even 17 years later. So it isn't as if you have to go forever. You can learn the CBT techniques and if down the road you need them, you can recall them. Although, it does help to sometimes just talk to someone. I mulled that over and decided it was not in my budget at the time so I talk on here!
Avatar f tn I am bipolar, with this i also suffer from severe migraines, ocd as well as anxiety. the doctor prescribed me 250mg of depakote and 200 mg of seroquel. i am suppose to take the depakote 2x a day and seroquel once at bedtime with the depakote. now my problem is i have not taken the medication because of the fact i go to school, work and have a four year old. the medication the doctor prescribed to me in the past increase my mood swings, slight memory loss and severe drowsiness.
574118 tn?1305138884 50mg seroquel, 1mg risperidone, 1mg stellazin (typical antipsychotic) my last mania 4 years ago. I extinguished it by 300 seroquel. After which I kept reducing seroquel dose, until a month ago succeed till 50. Perhaps at this dose no antidepressant effect of it. Perhaps should be higher than that. Already I am BPII so depression is my problem.
Avatar f tn I'm going to bring up Wellbutrin to the doctor, but I'm not sure if it will play well with Seroquel. I NEED to stay calm. I freak out very easily over the littlest things. The Seroquel has given me the ability to "shake it off" or walk away from potential blow-outs, something that I've never been able to do in my entire life.
497950 tn?1255867527 I was put on Seroquel after some awful episodes and that stabilized everything - I was on Seroquel for 2.5 years. This summer I decided that I could no longer handle the side effects from Seroquel and so I went off of it. I have been on Lamictal for over 3 years (alone for about 2 months now) and things have been going pretty well. Lots of people do really well on Lamictal. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Lamictal, Wellbutrin, nuvigil Evening: Lamictal and seroquel I should mention that I reacted differently than the "norm" with Wellbutrin. It generally (but not always) has a stimulating effect. But it made me incredibly depressed. The way I see it, is I take downers and uppers and they balance each other out. Nuvigil was the final puzzle piece. It was my first run with clarity in 13 years.
Avatar f tn i would say lamital is the best med out there (though i didn't tolerate it myself) not because it doesn'tcause weight gain or with the least side effects, but it'speculiarity concerning depression, because being bipolar you must have periods of depression (the majority) but lamictal lifts depression. i am on seroquel for example and i find it the best for me. if i start questionning diabetes, withdrawal symptoms, cataract, weight gain, i will not take it. give it a try for sure.
980052 tn?1262970679 I have had some breakthrough episodes but they were caused by adding Wellbutrin to the mix. I also take an antipsychotic and trazodone for sleep. Although not 100% it is one med I would not do without. By far and away the most effective med for me.
Avatar m tn it does control moods well but i guess you have to way up the side effects vs the benifits. i am on seroquel xr and normal seroquel. the xr works quite well to control moods.
Avatar f tn Now I am on two, yes only two meds and it is great. The hospital doctor put me on Wellbutrin for my depression and Lithium for my mania. So far, so good. I hope that my personal experience helps you to decided what is best for your son, hospitilization. Don't you want him to get the help he needs so he can be on the right medications and enjoy his summer? Here are some websites to read about bipolar disorder. Good luck. www.moodswing.
925572 tn?1246543631 the valproex was reducecd as well, but he definitely thought that Lamictal was more likely the problem. Now I'm off Lamictal and on Wellbutrin and Valproex. My memory is sharp like it used to be, and I have no cognitive dulling.
Avatar f tn and he is assuming he will have to go through 2 years vs. 1 years on treatment this time. He's seeing third specialist in June so he doesn't even know yet when and with what he will be treated with. The question of us loving each other is NOT the issues - we do very, very much. In fact, we've both been crying when he talks about divorce and staying separated.
Avatar n tn It all comes down to calories in vs. calories out. Continue to monitor your food intake as you've been doing and exercise regularly.
5079728 tn?1365553589 Learning and contrasting compensated vs. decompensated might be another variable in the decision to treat process as well. I am not sure how many recent threads there are on the forum at current about all orals that have been fast tracked or the stage they are in the approval process but I kept an eye on the forum when I was waiting for the PIs.
Avatar n tn I found Lamictal to be a godsend to even out my moods, and I'm not bi-polar - but there are side effects, and not everyone can take it because in a small percentage of people it can cause Stevens Johnson syndrome. I tried 25 mg Seroquel during my periods, and it evened me out, but was too sedating. You and your doctor will find the right combo with some experimenting. So don't let that keep you from trying Topomax - worst thing that can happen is you don't like it and quit.
Avatar f tn Does anyone take Wellbutrin XL with this? How is that working out? I am concerned as take that also.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been on Effexor XR for 3 years and I have gained about 40-50pounds, most when my dose was increased to 225, now I am on 75mg b/c I'm getting ready to wean off the medicine in a couple of weeks, and I haven't lost anything yet. My eating habits have not changed and I exercise. I have always been underweight and I could eat whatever I wanted...I'm only 26 years old...I know my metabolism has changed some, but not enough to pack on 40 pounds.
Avatar n tn I take it along with Wellbutrin. I just wanted to tell you my experience with this drug.I have struggled with my weight all of my life . I am now 35, 3 children and when i was diagnosed manic-depressive i was on prozac, wellbutrin and taking hi levels of prescription weight loss pills. I was losing my mind but i wasn't losing any weight! When my Psychatrist decided to try me on Topamax it was because of my anieity over my weight gain with the standard mood stabilizers.
20003388 tn?1515169640 Two example are the snri category and wellbutrin, but if anxiety is your main problem, these can be too stimulating for many people. Good luck in your search.
Avatar n tn lexapro, paxil, zoloft, seroquel, lamictal, xyprexa, buspar, and welbutrin. Currently I am taking depakote er, which actually seems to be working fairly well. It makes the anxiety bareable, but doesn't do much for my depression. However, there has always been one thing that has relieved all my symptoms; pain medications. First I would like to say something that Im sure everyone knows; these medicines are very addictive and should not be abused.
