seroquel vs valium

I take meclizine for the nausea, valium for the brain shocks, and now Seroquel for insomnia. Valium I can quit cold turkey(long half-life). Its seroquel that has me concerned because it antagonizes many parts of the brain that Remeron does creating a sedative effect possibly making it addictive. Am I robbing Peter To pay Paul???? Has anyone had experiences with Remeron(mirtazapine) or Seroquel (quetiapine). Particularly withdrawal Experiences.

for the first time i do not feel dpressed or anxiety. i stopped taking the valium when i started the seroquel. my valium has been a very high dose 60mg a day. will i get withdrawl symptoms from stopping the valium? when i started the seroquel 5 days ago i had a slight headache hardly anything. but now 5 days later my headache is very bad.

I have stopped taking seroquel and valium, which i have been prescribed for years. .. I also stopped taking an anti-depressant, but didnt find it helped me any. Seroquel helped me sleep, valium/xanax helped panic attacks... I don't have any money, no doctor, even emergency wont take me in. I have no choice, please help... Any information would be helpful.

My new psychiatrist switched me to Seroquel 100mg which I started taking on March 20, 2009. My question is can Seroquel help me on my Klonopin withdrawal? There were nights I can't sleep. I've been on 25 mg of Seroquel daily as a mood stabilizer (anxiety, amongst other things) for 10 months and I'm about to ween myself off of them. I still have a month's supply and my general doctor told me previously to take one pill every other day to see how that goes. I started Seroquel with my medical doctor, then later saw a psychiatrist. I will be seeing my psychiatrist at the end of the month to refill my Valium (as needed) and to get another refill of Seroquel.

My question here today is i take 600mg of Seroquel at night but my Psychiatrist has me taking up to another 600mg during day if im becoming homicidal. I also take 600mg Lithium..150mg Efexor..10mg Valium..Dexampatamine for ADHD.. I know they are basicaly putting a chemical restraint on me..I want to come off Seroquel but ive been on a high dose for years. I often wonder do all these meds add to my aggression? Im 43 woman living in Australia does anyone have any advice ?

u know u r the only one who knows wheteher u need valium or not...if u do then take the smallest dose possible for the least amount of time..sleep is important to recovery especially if u r working or have busy days ahead of u...safer meds would be better if u need sumpin over a week or so...over the counter u can get benadryl, valerian root, melatonin...

Talk to your doctor, I think even Tylenol PM would be better than valium. Valium taken regularly will make you forget stuff and you may have brain fog already.

Hi. I am bipolar and currently taking Lithium, Neurontin, Seroquel & Lamictal. I have only been on the Lamictal for about 7 weeks, starting @ 25mg & every 2 weeks adding another 25mg; thus I am currently @ 100mg per day.

I thought I remember a while back someone posted that they were doing OK on Lamictal but when the doc increased the dosage, the person started having anxiety attacks. Is that true? I recently went up to 200mg/day and I've started having anxiety and now wondering if I should ask the doc to decrease the dosage. He also discontinued the Seroquel but now I'm having major depressive episodes.

I also have no idea of your personal tolerance or your DOC - but seroquel may "potentiate" the valium if you do decide to take any - so keep that in mind. I personally dont think that 5mg or 10mg of valium would be a problem - but I am not a pharmacist - be safe.........

gave me a sample pack of 16 50 mg. of Seroquel and a small amount of Valium. In the past 10-15 yrs. I have been prescribed Paxil,Zyprexa,Effexor,Cymbalta, Prozac, Wellbutrin, Lexapro,Celexa, Zoloft, and probably something I have forgotton. These anti-depressants did little or nothing other than lighten my wallet. To be honest,the best results that I have experienced has been taking self injections of testosterone. I am male,55 yrs. old and found that my testosterone levels were very low.

I had problems sleeping and my pdoc put me on ambien, then lunesta then to valium which none worked so now he put me on 50mg of seroquel this made me sleep and then some. I am feeling like I am drugged and scared to take the next dose and scared not to as well. My pdoc is new to me and never gave an emergency number, he will not be back in his office till tuesday and also this coupled with my lexapro put me in a mixed state and feeling slighty suicidal this happens when I cycle rapidly.

Hey there and welcome to the forum! What is motivating you to taper off Klonopin? We can't discuss taper schedules on this forum but you MUST taper from this medication to prevent possible seizures. Your doctor should be able to give you more direction here. In my work as a RN I have seen doctor's prescribe Valium or Tegratol to taper off Klonopin to prevent 'status epilepticus' (nonstop seizure). This would depend on the dose and length of use.

I have been taking 10mg of Valium per night for a couple years and all I do is stay in bed and my life is slowly wasting away. Even though that isn't a high dose, if I stop taking it even for a week, I don't sleep more than 2 hours and wake up. No bad withdrawal symptoms like some of the other people's posts. I went 7 days without a 10mg Valium and I only slept a couple hours a day and really could not get back to sleep. I lay in bed for 8 hours trying to get rest.

Prior to deciding to embark on a medication regimen with Seroquel, please read over the entire prescribing information, as well as speak with your physician regarding side-effects. While not as common as the other side-effects I listed above, involuntary jaw movements can occur causing chipped teeth. Best of luck in your decision.

Diazepam is a prime example - you get 2 camps of docs - the pro valium and the anti valium - which camp you fall into depend on age, schooling and where you work - Pro valium doctors will use it a the usefull treatment tool it is and anti docs wont prescribe it preferring to chuck in something like atavan which ha its own set of side effects.

I kept having anxiety attack over anxiety attack. I finally fell asleep after taking my Seroquel which I take every night. The next day it was hard to eat and my stools were loose due to my anxiety. I have a fear of loose stools as they can lead to vomiting which I have A HUGE fear of so now I was having anxiety over that. I have a habit to hold it in because I fear if I go I wont stop and that means something is wrong and i'll have to go to the hospital. The anxiety went away after a week.
