Seizure symptoms in puppies

Common Questions and Answers about Seizure symptoms in puppies

Avatar f tn If a family or breeder I would contact them to see if there is a history of seizures or disorder with either parents or any problems with puppies from the same litter. Have you taken him to the vet? If not I would make it a priority.
Avatar f tn The fact that this puppy is only four months old is baffling, because idiopathic epilepsy usually is first seen in dogs in the 2-3 year old range. While it is not unheard of for it to occur in young puppies, in their case it is more often due to a head injury or some type of illness, like hypoglycemia. Reno007, what breed(s) is this puppy? Is he a large breed mix? A toy mix? How many times a day are you feeding him?
Avatar m tn Seems that the time lapse between vaccination time and death rules out vaccinations and puts us back at exposure to something in the yard. In the Doctor's words: "Tiny puppies like that can succumb to even the smallest amount of toxin in a product like wood chip/compost, so I’m afraid that they are right.
195469 tn?1388326488 He/She may also have expectations of their patients. Are you presenting your symptoms in a clear way for the Neuro to evaluate? (The "timetable" we always talk about here on the Forum. Clear and concise.) I would really appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.
Avatar n tn I am a 41 year old male having the same symptoms as described by the others in this forum. I have been having these pain and discomfort for over two years. I have had every test imaginable ran including MRI and still have found no answer. The pain in the side and back almost feels as if the skin is wet at times. I have also experienced considerable belching. Often times it feels that the waist of my pants is too tight and feels uncomfortable (the pants are not too tight).
Avatar f tn Reading my journals for the last six weeks-will provide some of the highlights when I can, but now I just can't. Hopefully, this will help somone else recognize the symptoms of kidney failure in their babies. I cannot express to all of you how much your comments mean to us right now. Not sure we could make it without you. It is so hard.
Avatar f tn The sleeping the next day thing is very common following an epileptic seizure. Not all dogs do this, but it depends on the severity of the seizure. In humans, a bad headache usually follows the seizure the next day, and they're just wiped out from the muscle tension during the seizure and very, very sleepy. The circling while she's chasing her tail is a classic doggie OCD. This makes me think that the licking probably is as well.
Avatar m tn ive had anxiety disorder for about just under 3 years now and im 16 years old a couple of months ago i had a really bad experince - i got really hot, my vision went red in the bottom, i was driving with my mum, i felt out of it and weird in my hands tingling and was convinced i was having a seizure which i have had two when i was in rimary school about 8 years ago. it was only classified as petite epilpsy and the dr's ensured me i would grow out of it.
Avatar m tn mindy is 10 months old she was the runt and we got her from a freind when she 6 weeks old and she sleeps in my bed and i want to say she stared having seizures around 4 months old she only has them when she is sleeping...where her body mostly her legs will shake... or when she is sleeping her eyes will be open... and she does not respond to me when she is sleeping with her eyes open...........
544292 tn?1268886268 Various withdrawal effects may include shakes, shivers, diarrhea, nausea, and possible flu-like symptoms. Not all people experience will all withdrawal symptoms, and some people may experience others not listed here. The length of time withdrawal symptoms occur can range from a couple of days to weeks depending on how high your dose was and how long you were on the drug. Withdrawal symptoms can be reduced by discontinuing use of the drug slowly (i.e., gradually reducing the daily dose).
Avatar f tn I took him to the vet and she gave me two syringes of valium to use in case he had another seizure. Over the next 12 hours, my poor dog had nine more seizures and I was all out of valium, which didn't seem to make any difference anyway. He would thrash and convulse for a full minute, then lie panting and unconscious, foaming at the mouth for up to nine minutes. Then he would come to, looking confused and frightened, lying in a pool of bloody foam. It was devastating.

Avatar n tn -She also had a head shake, which the vet today said was a seizure. We are taking her in again on Friday for a check up, and hopefully improvements by then. The vet said if he is right about the problem, she should be eating more by then.
Avatar f tn During the seizure, he foams at the mouth, loses control of his bladder. After each seizure, he can not see for up to 10 min. I hold him so he doesnt get hurt bumping into things. After a string of seizures - he sometimes gets very aggressive for a few days after.
1442192 tn?1310205016 I would stay away from the preparations that are taken internally and the ones that cover a multitude of pests just in case she does tend to be sensitive, you don't want to overload her, but I have even used FrontLine TopSpot on dogs with seizure disorder in the past with NO ill effects whatsoever, and one of them was a six month old puppy. Adams also makes a line of wonderful flea and tick preparations.

Avatar m tn An injured or ill dog is invariably killed or shunned when in a pack, which is why they try to conceal their symptoms. In humans, brain tumors are relatively easy to diagnose because of direct communication, but it is far more difficult in dogs - until an MRI is undertaken. Therefore, the sooner the MRI is done the better, because then at least you will have some valued information and can consider options for management and treatment.
1929044 tn?1323113688 I provide a private rescue to cats/kittens - dogs/puppies. Unfortunately when the dogs were coming in and out - the created an infestation throughout my home and most of the cats and kittens also became affected by flea - it's a nightmare and so hard to get under control (even now in the winter). I aplied the Sargeants (gold box) to my dog who is over 60 pds. I also had the Sargeants for cats under ten pounds on the counter to treat two cats I found fleas on.
Avatar m tn She too experienced similar symptoms (uncoordinated, urinating in the house, trouble walking or standing without swaying or falling, blindness (so it seemed), running into walls, not responding to my voice). It has now been 4 weeks on the medication. Most all has improved except: instead of being fatigued and calm she has gone crazy mad!
338880 tn?1195534619 we have a 6month old miniture pincher she got hit in the head this evening. she was not breathing when i picked her up. i gave her cpr and mouth to mouth . we got her to the vet and he gave her a steriod injectin and sent her home. she has ate a little soft food and is some what alert. she is really drooling .
Avatar m tn It's never easy to say goodbye and it's even more difficult when it's a young dog because we are geared to think that the young have many years to live. You are in my thoughts. When to bring in a new dog or puppy is something that is completely up to the individual. Some people are reluctant to open their hearts again because they don't want to experience that same pain down the road at some point.
Avatar f tn I had actually had where you had posted it before (before I went to the vet this time, even), and I was convinced that she was in kidney failure because all of the symptoms are there. But the vet said that her kidney levels seems within reasonable levels. The only thing the vet could find as a real life-threatening problem is her low blood pressure.
544292 tn?1268886268 Day 22 Cold Turkey Tramadol ... I woke up HAPPY. I used to wake up happy all the time, before the Tramadol. Waking up happy is good. Then I tried to move. I had to use my hands and arms to get up out of bed. My body has been pushed as far as it will go. So after trying all my best tricks (aminos, coffee, food, vitamins, water) I finally stopped the struggle and called in sick for work. Tomorrow will be a busier day anyhow.
544292 tn?1268886268 Hi Tramadol Warriors, Many people have come here for many years, giving support and getting support. Because I still believe that Tramadol is unique in it's ... terror and torture of humans, this thread continues. The people who can understand what you are going thru are the people who have kicked it and there's people here who come back to lend a hand. You also will never need an understanding ear as much. You can do it. You can quit. You do not need to be a slave to Tramadol.
1627868 tn?1333889942 I had my first bad bout of strange neuro symptoms in '07 and I thought it was sleep deprivation because it improved greatly while I was off work, so we down sized again to 12 acres closer to town thinking I wouldn't be able to go back to work. I have to say I am very glad to be rid of the expensive mortgage payments! Especially since it once again looks like I will not be working at such a demanding job for long. I really love this part of the country, too.
Avatar f tn She was just sitting like a person on the couch and she started bobbing back and forth slowly,it didn't look like a seizure but they present themselves in so many different ways. Her BUN level was 50,creatine was .3,sodium was 129,glucose was 69, calcium 8.4, lymphocytes 32,neutrophils 83.
