Avatar n tn It is unclear if exercise actually increases the risk of seizures, so you don't have to curtail your exercise habits, except for the precautions mentioned above. I hope this information is helpful. Best of luck. This information is provided for general medical education purposes only. Please consult your doctor regarding diagnostic and treatment options.
Avatar n tn He thought I hurt myself with exercise. Then I started getting a flushed face, which is almost constant like my face feels sunburnt, but isn't. I also have put on a lot of weight these past 6 months, although I am a small eater. My blood pressure was 90/68 my whole life, now it is 130/70. something is just not right, I feel it and no one can tell me what it is. I also get a feeling of not being able to move for seconds when I fall asleep. Please can someone advise here....
Avatar m tn I am sorry that you have to deal with adjusting your seizure meds, Certainly that adds to the stress. The other very good news is that there is a very decent percentage of people that are cured and there is an avalanche of new very effective medications being developed that are enormously increasing the odds of a cure. You need to know your Genotype (strain) to know what meds will be most effective.
Avatar n tn My dd is 4 yrs and in Sept she had an unexplained seizure. She was sitting on a sit n spin for a couple seconds when she fell back and went into a seizure. We got her into a Ped neuro Dr since it wasn't fever related or anything. Since the seizure she has had headaches several times a week (only lasting a few min) and complains that her R eye 'hurts'. At first we thought something was in her eye, but after the 3rd time we figured something else was going on. She does have glasses (vision -2.
Avatar n tn 2 months, I had a seizure one night just after dozing off in my wife's lap. Since that point in time I have also had tremors during the night (this has been observed numerous times by my wife). I have also battled depression and on many days felt simply miserable (much more so than before starting on synthroid). What's interesting is that two months ago I quit taking the Synthroid as I associated taking the medicine with my seizures and tremors.
Avatar n tn specifically I feel a tingling in my face, I lose my sight even though my eyes are open, the muscles in my extremities begin to have small seizure type reactions and depending on the severity of the episode I may either faint or remain standing but in either case I have no memory of the beginning of the episode. I also have shortness of breath which I can only describe as an inability to completely fill the lungs with a deep breath.
Avatar m tn He had two seizures, one on Sunday and one on Monday, at almost exactly the same time in the evening. After the second seizure, the vet put him on phenobarbital (97 mg/2x per day). He's been on it for five days now and is still pretty out of it. He is extremely lethargic (sleeps most of the day), has coordination problems, and weakness in his hind end. He walks veeery slowly. He's also extremely hungry and thirsty. I've read that all of these are possible phenobarbital side effects.
Avatar n tn I notice palpitations mostly at night when I take the medicine and they are strong enough to keep me awake sometimes. Even mild exercise dramatically increases my pulse giving me shortness of breath and chest pains. I have had an EKG to monitor heart activity and it read normal. Should these side-effects be a cause for concern besides from being discomforting? Thanks.
1075731 tn?1286890975 lucy may be taking a much lower dose than johnny/but they can both be addicts keep posting..the thomas recipe and exercise helps alot..if u took time release drugs/and never chewed then or snorted them..wd is often easier that fast peaking drugs like lortab,,,read the dopamine article in the health pages too so u will understand why u feel the way u feel...keep moving forward..despite the fact u still dont feel well..fact is u will/takes time/how long did u take the pills?
Avatar n tn And that type of seizure does not cause a change in consciousness according to this one website. A seizure is a charge of sudden electrical activity in the brain that affects a way a person feels or acts for a short time. This makes sense in light of what I had learned about the neural-misfiring from my EEG. Another clue is the Tachycardia. Tachycardia often precedes a seizure and frequently persists throughout a seizure.
Avatar n tn p.s. should have said = the body does not bank up calcium after around the age of 25. i tell my kids to eat more calcium rich foods to bank it up in their bones for future bone health. i wish i can hear of someone who has managed to exercise & have learned ways to manage the calcium issue cuz when i try to do more, that night i hurt :( It's hard to try to lose weigth when you can't "exercise" like others. I guess I could keep drinking liquid cal during exercise...
Avatar f tn So, what dose did everyone here have their success? And what type of diet/eating plan and exercise plan did you do to help it along? I'm desperate to lose 40 lbs (half of which I gained on Zoloft-no longer taking). PLEASE respond if you had any weightloss on this drug, I'm very curious. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

Avatar n tn I was not very careful and continued to smoke, not really tighten up on what I was eating, and not get enough exercise. I learned my lesson 10 Jan 06 when it happened again, much worse with paralysis down my right side taking 2-3 days to clear. While there I had a heart attack, had an angiogram,an angioplast, and a stent inserted in my coronary artery (90 pc closed I was told)In total I spent 3 weeks in 2 seperate hospitals.
Avatar m tn I am aware of the precautions with Trazodone. I currently take 50mg at night to help sleep (and to try and help with depression, but it doesn't seem to). Like so many others here, I try to rationalize my problem by searching for ways to mitigate my upcoming discomfort before I stop taking opiates. I sit and count the remaining pills to determine when I have to start weaning (a point which I have probably passed already).
Avatar f tn Know it's hard to do, but I've been trying to get my grandsons into fishing and with fishing is hooks and it's really easy to poke yourself with a hook, so I take extra precautions.
Avatar n tn I have never had atrial before during or after actual working out but have heard that a possible remedy to stop the afib in its tracks is to exercise. I can tell you that its the last thing I feel like doing when I have it and I've tried other things like the cold water on the face to no avail.
Avatar f tn I've had cortisone shots, allergy medications, ointments (over the counter as well as prescription) and even a low dose anti-seizure medication (to dull the nerve endings) AND NOTHING WORKS!!!!!! It is always worse at night and there have been many nights when I wake up in the act of scratching. I've given myself yeast infections as well as bacteria infections from scratching to the point of breaking the skin.
Avatar n tn Has anyone experienced any seizure-like activity? Not actually a grand mal but almost like your brain is having misfirings and they all the sudden catch up w/ each other. I hope this makes some sense. I have been having this for a few days now. I am worried because it seems like everyone here is having a slow-down of symptoms and I feel like mine are doing the opposite. I have tingling everyday and now this.
Avatar n tn I have not been able to determine what precipitates them. I have changed my diet, my exercise routine to no avail. I do have a bit of anxiety, but I truly believe it is as a result of the lack of sleep. My wife thinks that I'm making things worse by turning all the clocks in the house (the ones that chime) off in order to avoid knowing the time so I don't panic by learning that I have ONLY a few hours left before I have to get up and get ready for work.
Avatar f tn I'm new to this club. Thank goodness for these blogs. I have lots of questions that I haven't seen responses address; will this now be daily? Can you tell me some of the events that trigger an spasm? I do not have a cold, flu, cough, nor anything such as this. I have a mild post nasal dip. Tell me what to expect if I get a bad cold. Just two or three mild coughs has caused me to spasm. Cold issues can cause a bad cough which I wonder how I would manage.
Avatar n tn Very in tune with my body, exercise and take vitamins and I am otherwise healthy, but I am starting to worry about the severity of the episodes.
Avatar f tn 00 a.m. to help her go easily. He will slightly sedate her first. She will be on her loveseat with her head resting in my lap as that is her favorite way to spend time with her mommy. I know this will be more than I can stand, but I promised her faithly after her stay in the hospital that I would not put her back in my car unless it was for fun.
