Avatar n tn Infections and fever can make an otherwise healthy individual more prone to have a seizure. a single episode of seizure cannot be marked as epilepsy. An EEG to ensure that there are no structural abnormalities in brain. Normal EEG and MRI brain are encouraging though this does not rule out a future episode. You need to consult a physician for investigating any underlying infectious condition, high or low blood sugar, injury, electrolyte imbalance, drug withdrawal syndrome etc.

Avatar m tn I absolutely have no sweets and switched to sprouted grain bread (no flour and has a low GI) and high fiber carbs which are better for your blood sugars. I gave up sweets, junk food, crackers/cookies/chips, ice cream for the most part with an occasional indulgance of 1/2 cup serving, and gave up rice and have only whole grain pasta. So, if he's serious like that, maybe he can avoid the medication entirely. But, you have to run everything by the doctors.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever heard of neurological reactions to food-example "brain Fog" and Seizure -like reactions?
Avatar n tn Can you describe some more details regarding the seizure activity to know better? Sleep deprivation can be one of the triggers for seizure activity. It need not always happen at night. You may consult a neurologist for complete check up and investigations including a sleep study. Take care and share your thoughts.
Avatar m tn Do you feed him his food fast, can he catch his breath between mouthfuls ? If you think you maybe take it slowly and let him digest each mouthful doesnt sound like a seizure ..
Avatar f tn It sounds like a possible seizure. They can manifest in many different ways and it's not uncommon to see that head tilting behavior. It's also typical to that they need to sleep quite a while after having a seizure. Since he's had two episodes that you know of, it's definitely time to see your vet. Try not to panic. I know seeing a seizure of any kind is extremely scary, but epilepsy in dogs can usually be well-managed with medications.
Avatar f tn He was placed on Keppra 500mg orally twice a day for seizure precautions due to the fall. He has been on the medication for approximately three weeks. He is tired, blah, and feels short of breath. I know it will take time to heal but do you know how long he should have to be on the medication and/or how long he will feel this way? I'm not sure how much activity to encourage. If you have any information or advice to ask the neurologist, I would greatly appreciate it!!
Avatar n tn It would depend on the cause of the seizures. Also some medications can lower the seizure threshold including many antipsychotics but only a doctor or psychiatrist would understand this in full. It would be worthwhile to discuss these concerns with them and what the appropriate means of follow up would be.

Avatar m tn Hi.. I was infected with Viral Hepatitis A three months back. Symptoms I had were : Jaundice with bilirubin as high as 43. Now I have fully recovered. My liver function tests are withing range now. So my question to you is: How long should I wait to eat outside food now.. It's been so long that I've had good food? One more question, I usually do not drink but I do like to have it sometimes at parties. When can I start doing that again?
Avatar f tn Last night I was 45 minutes late to giving my dog the phenbarbatol ( sp), and his thyroid medication. This morning he had a mild seizure, first one that I am awear of since 3 months. Could being late have caused it this morning? I added a quarter more medication today to each of his dose ( twice a day). I called the vet and they want to recheck his blood levels, which I will do next week.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Prednisolone can also aggravate pre-existing seizure disorder. Certain precautions that your physician would be taking care of are, using the lowest possible dose, for the shortest time, alternate day dosing can be followed if possible, and gradual withdrawal to limit the adrenal suppression. Usually a treatment for more than 3 weeks is taken as long term. I cannot advise the dose, which can cause neurological symptoms and side effects. Consult your physician for the needful in your case.
Avatar f tn If it is confirmed that your events are due to seizures, you would need to be started on seizure medications (anti-epileptic drugs). It is important to assume seizure precautions as well, such as not driving or being in situations in which you could injure yourself or others if you had a seizure, such as standing on a height or swimming unsupervised. Thank you for using the forum, I hope you find this information useful, good luck.
Avatar f tn They can be managed by identifying the food that causes the issue in the brain (such as the seizure). In your case, she is only 11 weeks and milk/formula/ breast milk is the only food that she is taking, unless her doctor already took her off the milk based food. This is very easy to replace with a non-milk food type. Good luck and God bless your baby. I know what you are going through.
Avatar n tn she is possibly a deer head chihuahua, had a seizure after ingesting people food (raw organic hamburger that was cooked). Not knowing if that was the cause or not, we took her to the vet emergency. They only observed her since it was the first time she had a seizure. She came home after 24 hours of no seizure. That night she had another seizure and was brought back to the emergency room. They gave her phenobarbitol, diazepam injections and keppra tablets.
Avatar m tn Yes, this does sound like a seizure.....Whether it's the food or not, you must get rid of it!!! It's a terrible food and Purina is poisoning dogs all over this country with absolutely no recalls, yet dogs & Cats are becoming violently ill and/or dying on Purina foods....Last complaints I looked at were up to 4000 so far..... Get him on a food with No Dyes, No preservatives, No artificial Color, No by-products & very few grains such as whole grains...

3187528 tn?1344805510 Any chemical going into or on your dog could be the source.....That would also include FOOD....In your free time, you need to look into a fresh food diet for your pet & do research on how toxic most commercial brands of food really are...... Yard chemicals, floor chemicals, toxic water, etc., are other sources...... I don't know about the erratic behavior....I would need more details on that.....Unusual grass eating IMO is an upset stomach......
Avatar n tn I'm no expert or anything, but I've heard of people who already have epilepsy becoming prone to seizures from food allergies. Definitely follow the more expert advice, but it won't hurt to check for food allergies. A lot of people are allergic to wheat or gluten and a lot of people are allergic to milk. If it's not a "true" allergy, it can still be food sensitivities. Google information for food sensitivities and for food elimination/food challenge diets.
